Super Short Reviews Fall tv 2018 part four (and last):
The Kids Are Alright (ABC) – Trying to ride the wave of the Goldbergs, comedic nostalgia set in the 70s (all of the 1970s all at once.)  Which could have been enjoyable if its wasn’t for the 11 to 1 male to female cast ratio.  Or if it had better jokes.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix) – Great fun!   It got sued by a a real Satanic cult. COME ON.  You cant get better publicity than that.  I love Richard Coyle, Lucy Davis, and Michelle Gomez.  Easy fare for a binge watch.
Legacies (CW) – This is a spin off from the Originals, which was a spin off from the Vampire Diaries. Its a dark Harry Potter school but in America and not just witches. (Werewolves!  And yes – Vampires!)  May be okay for the 13 to 30 crowd.  I found Danielle Rose Russell difficult to watch.  (Is she stoned all the time?)
Camping (HBO) – Billed as a comedy and filled with a cast of delightful actors... but after 2 and a half episodes I gave up hope that I would laugh, or that the story would push past overly forced goofiness and super annoying self-destructive characters.
Wanderlust (Netflix) – Refreshing and Intruiging.  Imagine awkward, unhappy British people embracing their sex drive and even TALKING about it... What??  I swear its true. Check it out.
Clique (AMC) – new to the US only; aired in the UK in 2017.  This is one of those new mysteries where you’re not even sure what the mystery is.  (Read:  you have no idea what’s going on.)  While the lead girl seems rather miscast, and the premise is a stretch, I enjoyed the Scottish dialects enough to watch the entire season.  (And finally figure out what was really going on.)
Succession (HBO) – Super rich and extremely dislikable people in Manhattan, vying for daddy’s attention and money and power.  Im guessing if you get past the first couple episodes you may get to see bad things happen to the extremely unlikable people?  Or not.  Lemme know.
Bodyguard (Netflix) – One of the best first episodes of anything ever.   TENSION.  Richard Madden (Robb Stark) is super intense and wound up tight... I cant wait to binge watch the rest and hopefully see him explode.
Homecoming (Amazon) – hey its Julia Roberts in a ‘tv’ show!!!  Who cares.  Stephan James is the real star here.  Watch Shots Fired if you haven’t seen him before.  Also Selma and If Beale Street Could Talk.  He’s fantastic.  Homecoming is another of those new mysteries – not a who-dunnit or a why-dunnit but a what-was-dunnit wha hunh??
Origin (YouTube) – not the best acting in the world but the sci-fi is very cool and the suspense / horror will keep you on the edge of your seat.  And its free!!  (I suspect that will end soon.)  The stand out performances come from Natalia Tena (Osha, Tonks) and Sen Mitsuzi (who needs to fill out his Imdb template.)
Kominsky Method (Netflix) – I love Alan Alrkin.  Always.  In everything.  Its also funny that Michael Douglas can take it all in stride.  Nancy Travis is as lovable as ever, and you may be surprised to learn that this is a Chuck Lorre show...  or not surprised at all if you think about it.  Who better to joke about the Hollywood of the past from a Hollywood top-lister of still around and present?  So fun.
Queen America (Facebook Watch) – Again, its free!!  And another movie star in a tv show!  And after two episodes im not sure what tone its going for.  (Dramedy?  Dark Comedy? Over the top Drama?)  But I want to keep watching and thats saying something.  Especially since its about Oklahoma pageant people.   Happy to see Molly Price, who has always been one of my favourites.
