On September 15, 1963, #AddieMaeCollins, #CarolDeniseMcNair, #CaroleRobertson, and #CynthiaWesley were killed when a bomb planted by members of the #KuKluxKlan exploded at the #16thStreetBaptistChurch in #BirminghamAL. Today marks the #55thAnniversary of the #September151963 #16thStreetBaptistChurchBombing which took the lives of these #4LittleGirls and wounded 22 others. #FBI concluded in 1965 that the bombing had been committed by four known #KuKluxKlansmen - #BobbyFrankCherry #HermanFrankCash #RobertEdwardChambliss #ThomasEdwinBlantonJr. No prosecutions ensued until 1977, when Chambliss was tried and convicted of the first degree murder of one of the victims, 11-year-old Carol Denise McNair. Thomas Edwin Blanton Jr. and Bobby Cherry were each convicted of four counts of murder and sentenced to #LifeImprisonment in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
