broad-shouldered frame settles in beside tatum on stu’s worn out couch. heathcliff duke wears his signature green, carries a red solo cup like a shield, melts against the arm of the couch.  party guests come and go from upstairs. it’s a veritable disneyland for high school students, crowds intersecting and breaking off, moving against each other, pausing in places for moments of contemplation and hungry make out sessions, and in the midst of it all, even the ( second ) most popular boy in school is anonymous. so, he uses his anonymity to speak to peasantry, just for a moment. “hey, hot stuff -- you got a minute to talk?”

      so it’s been a while after stu got dumped -- you could say that he uses his single days to the max. partying around, fucking around ( in many, many ways, really; it’s not like his parents are keeping a close eye on him ) and he’d be stupid if he wanted to settle down, right ?? this kinda life is fun, with no strings attached and no need to pick up fucking flowers and carry lady stuff around because the little lady is too lazy to do so herself, and --

     -- and yet. another party during which stu just seems to gravitate towards whatever room tatum hangs out in. he tries talking to other girls, tries flirting here and there but his eyes follow the small blonde’s movements, watch her messing around on the dancefloor with sidney ( who does not look super happy to be there ) and at some point stu finds himself flopping down on the couch next to the girls -- no biggie !! just messing, right ?? “ LADIES !! YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD USE SOME COMPANY !! ” making himself more comfortable, stu throws his legs across sid’s lap and then lays back, head coming to rest right in tatum’s lap. grinning up at her, he tries to ignore this sudden BA - THUMP, BA -THUMP, BA - THUMP right there, in his chest.   “ HI. ”
