I think if I could write my own happy ending within the logic of the game
what i'd want at the end is for buddy to recognize they can't keep pushing themselves to make our game forever (as much as in a fantasy world, I'd want to play games forever and ever pfft), but come to the realization that ending it and starting over means that, while they will forget everything, they could play again and it would feel like new. The player would of course remember, however, the player would therefore be making the choice every restart to play along and enjoy the experience again and again (almost the antithesis to ending 4)
almost like, a situation where someone you love loses their memory over and over and each time they meet you again for the first time, and instead of it being painful, you enjoy the experience of meeting them for the "first" time as well.
basically, the only way to keep being friends would be restarting and playing again. so then, it's still bittersweet, because whether it's the first run or the tenth, ultimately buddy would come up with the idea to erase their memory and start over, and they'll never know they already did ten times before.
But I think I'd like that best. I don't care about the animal. They can apologize for killing it and all that, but what I really want is buddy :(

finally did the perfect buddy sim ending!! it was sweet but... ironically perhaps my least favorite..?
maybe because I felt the least in control, also ironically.. but buddy apologizing for being a bad friend was upsetting to me because I didn't feel I was owed an apology, I didn't think they were a bad friend. and honestly, I didn't at all get attached to the animal, I think I was really supposed to, I generally observed other players' being very attached to it and feeling upset when it died and a lot of players refused to kill it on their first run in fact
I did though, I didn't hesitate to kill it. maybe it's because I empathize so much with buddy I felt just as angry about its presence, I felt like it was interfering like, in an immersion mindset.
so in the perfect run, having to refuse to kill the animal and letting buddy do it, leading to them feeling bad and beating themselves up.. the "gift" at the end being the restoration of the animal before buddy's game ends and they "die" per se........ felt very much not perfect for me. not what I would have wanted :(
there's a pain in the fact that despite it being such a wonderful game, on a personal level I'm left without a happy ending or closure. obviously none of the other endings do, the neutral ending is buddy being distraught the game ends, the bad ends both involve hurting buddy on purpose and devastating them.. which like, this isn't a criticism, I think it was very well done and from an objective perspective, I think it's a happy and good ending
subjectively though, for me, in my world, it's not happy :( it's like all the ends were unhappy endings and there was no route I could have taken to be happy.

No doing my whole next run tonight but just getting some of the quick intro stuff started while I eat.
After playing the demo, and two proceeding runs, by now I just assumed that the player will always win rock, paper, scissors just because it's scripted that way.
Which is true... except only this time I noticed a blink-and-you-miss-it detail--Buddy changes their answer and lets you win q_q
