Advice for Autistic Littles
𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 Some people may know, autistic kids tend to play a lot differently than their neurotypical friends. As someone who is autistic and is an age regressor, I find that the same thing is true, trying to figure out how to play is difficult! So I decided to make a list of ideas of how to play and hope it can help some other people too!
𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊
Brackets! grab a bunch of whatever you'd like to play with; plushies, small toys, rocks, anything! Use a piece of paper (or a small whiteboard!), draw up a bracket (search "sport bracket" if you're not sure what they look like), and fill in your toys names or descriptions! Next you gotta choose your competition, my go-tos are either coinflips or one of those sit-in-a-circle-sing-a-song elimination type games. Keep going until you have your winner, celebrate, and repeat! I can sit and do this for hours, and the fun part is the amount of variation you have!
Organize! Need something low energy but still engaging? Find something to sort into categories! You can use collections of toys like My Little Ponies or Littlest Pet Shops, more mundane objects like poker chips or rocks, or different coloured candies if you want to add in a fun snack! Just make sure not to eat too many
Crafts! While this will be different for everyone, I find crafts to be a lot easier to understand than playing. Get some easy craft kits at the dollar store or set up something before you regress! Preferably something easy and simple (and for me, colourful!)
Sensory play! Have you seen those videos of people making sensory bins for their kids? Why not try them when regressed! You can customize them to you, whether you're more of a visual, auditory, or textile stimmer, and are usually pretty simple to set up! You can also use fidget toys for this!

I know it may not be much, but I hope this can help someone! And as a reminder to my fellow autistic littles, you are just as valid as any other regressor, even if the way you regress is a bit different

The Super Easiest Ways to Feel Little
(Absolutely Zero Gear Required)
🍊 use your non-dominant hand!
Whether it’s using a fork or brushing your teeth, using the wrong hand will make your tasks a little more difficult, like you’re learning them for the first time!
🍊 use both hands!
Like holding a cup or carrying things around, sometimes little ones need to be extra careful not to drop things <3
🍊 try it a new way!
Walking around? Maybe you could skip! Or only step on the white tiles! Or carefully step over the concrete lines! Little ones are so creative, they can turn something simple into something super fun
🍊 give it a voice!
“Well hello Mr. Fork, how are you doing today?”“Very well, thank you, Mr. Spoon.” No toys, no problem! What do you think your comb would say if it could talk?
🍊 no erasing!
Write/draw/journal with something that can’t be erased, like a pen or a marker (sharpies are my favorite!). The mistakes don’t matter, so if you mess up, keep going! Can you fill the whole page?
Age Regression is not about the objects you have, it’s about reclaiming the mindset of curiosity and healing the part of yourself that finds joy in the little things. <3

🩷How to tell someone about your regression🩷
🧃This is just some tips on how to do it, aka how I usually do it. If another way works for you that's great! This is just some idea on how to do it and be comfortable with it!🧃
🩷videos and online resources, if you are shy about explaining it yourself there are some great Textposts and videos online that explain regression and what it is, I have some myself on my tik tok and Instagram (I'll link the TikTok below) and there is a short film on YouTube called "too little" that's awesome🩷
🧃explain, I like to start by explaining what agereggression is, or even ask if they know something about it already, sometimes they do and that can be a great point to work from🧃
🩷be open, be open about why you regress at least as much as you are comfortable, people are kess likely to react poorly if they know why and can understand it🩷
🧃text message, preparing a text message or letter in advance, maybe even with a friend or cg, can be super helpful, especially if you experience going nonverbal🧃
🩷be sure, do not open up to someone because you feel forced or scared, be sure you feel safe with the person and exposing such a vulnerable side to them, nobody is entitled to your safe space🩷
🧃test the water, I like to hint at regression and test the waters first, wearing jewelry with kiddo nicknames or similar on it or having merch from more well known brands, if someone recognizes them and asks about it you know there is base knowledge🧃
🩷open up, I like to let people know about my trauma and other trauma-responses first, once they are aware of certain things it helps with the talk later on as it won't be as much if a shock that you might have to cope in unconventional ways🩷

a serious talk about pacifiers
Please, no matter what anyone says, it is not 100% safe to use pacifiers.
this isn’t just about baby pacis. I’m talking about adult size ones too.
over time your teeth will shift if you use a pacifier intensely and for a long time. They will, after prolonged use, cause your teeth to splay/ flare out as well as potentially develop an Over/ underbite. If you feel your bite feels weird after using a pacifier, it’s not all in your head.
I’m not saying these things to scare you but it’s a common misconception that if you have a fully developed mouth than it’s perfectly okay to use adult pacifiers without any repercussions and that’s just not true.
I know our pacifiers can be essential to our mental health, our regression, etc. (plus they’re super adorable) so I’m not telling you to stop using them all together (i myself, am still going to use them). I would however recommend limiting usage to 15 minutes (25 max), try your best not suck incredibly hard on it, clean them before and after every use (because bacteria), wear your retainer or Invisalign regularly if you have them, and most importantly talk to your dentist or orthodontist because everyone is different. You may not experience these issues in the way I have or at all.

Caregiver Tips : BedTime ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
Create a Schedule!!
Schedules can be very helpful for little ones to get into and say in the groove of bedtime. It can also be helpful if you find yourself not know what to do most night.
Creating an actual Bed-time for bedtime is something I consider important. It doesn’t have to be strict nor does it have to be required though setting a structured though flexible time for your little to head to bed is a good idea !
I don’t suggest any times past 11:00pm though that’s up for you and your little to decide.
A few ideas for Bedtime,
Bath Before Bed ! Not only do baths help to stay clean but it can also be a fun, calming time for little ones
Bed Time Snack. In my personal experience bedtime snacks can be very helpful. Nothing too big because you don’t want the little one to have an upset stomach ! ( You can also treat the snack like a little reward before bed )
StoryTime. You can pick up a nice child friendly book to read your little one to sleep. It’s a safe, calming, and enjoyable activity before bed.
Situational Advice !
Nightmares
Your little woke up from a nightmare ? That can be quite scary for them.
Don’t get upset with your little for being awake. This should be obvious but getting upset with a little for something like this isn’t okay and will only make the situation harder for both of you.
If they’re feeling up to it take a moment to talk about the nightmare with them, get some water, overall show them that they’re safe with you.
Pouty Little having a tantrum at bedtime
Check in to see if there’s any specific reason for it. Wether it’s about being hungry, hurt, or just not wanting to go to bed the reason can be very helpful.
Ease the little to bed. Maybe put on some calming music or a show you think your little could relax while watching.
Explain to them why sleep is important, that you care about them and why you want them to go to sleep in a way they’ll understand.
Different things work for different people and that works the same with littles. If this stuff doesn’t work or you feel they’re better ways to do it for your situation than go ahead !

Sick and regressed ☆´ˎ˗ ︶︶︶

Well, while I'm writting this I'm bedridden (likely with covid), and for some reason I really want to spend my sick days regressed and take something good out of it at least.
Getting comfy!
🧦: Pajamas time! Is there anything more regressor-coded than cozy printed pajamas, an animal kigurumi or onesie? I'd say no. And since I'm staying on bed, I'm surely wearing those all day long.
🛏️: Bed setup! When you're bedridden, a bed table ends up being really useful in case you want to do stuff that requires a flat surface. If you have one of those, lucky you! I, however had to improvise with a smooth wooden board standing on my lap, therefore any kind of long, resilient and flat surface can do the job just fine.
🧦: Blanket fort! Alternatively, if you're able to roam around your house or have someone to help, you can build a blanket fort over your bed or a comfy surface to stay in!
🛏️: Sick gear! Runny nose? Bring tissues. Got a fever? Make a cold damp towel for your forehead. Tummy aches or localized pain? Make a hot water compress. And make sure to keep track of the meds you're taking, of course.
🧦: Get your plushies! Since what I got is very contagious close contact with anyone is out of the table, but my stuffies are completely immune to sickness and ready to cuddle! (I'll have to wash them afterwards to disinfect them though)
Games and activities!
🎮: Viddy games! Either on computer, phone or a console (handheld preferred), videogames are perfectly stationary and don't require much movement from your part.
🖍️: Table games! Table games are also stationary and can be played right from your bed if you have a bed table, although most games need other people to play with you, your plushies can serve this purpose.
🎮: Play pretend! Playing pretend can be limited when you're bedridden, but there are some scenarios you're perfectly able to do! Such as pretending you're a shop owner and your stuffies are the clients, pretending your stuffies are your doctors/nurses taking care of you, or vice versa. Things like tea parties and pretend schools are still on the table!
🖍️: Arts and crafts! Being sick won't stop me from wanting to draw and color, since I can do it from my bed anyways! Aside from drawing and coloring, I might as well do some collage and paper craft, just might need help to clean up afterwards.
🎮: Cartoon time! No better opportunity to (re)watch your favorite cartoons than when you're sick, bedridden and bored, right? And since this brings me comfort, here are some cartoon episodes that center on being sick: Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound (Bluey), Steve Gets The Sniffles (Blues Clues), Bear Flu (We Bare Bears), Doctor Daisy M.D (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), Arthur's Chicken Pox (Arthur)
Snack time!
🍼: Hot drinks! Specially if you're with a cold or a sore throat in general, hot drinks such as hot cocoa and tea are perfect for warming up an icky throat.
🧁: Spices for a sore throat! Like mint, honey, ginger and lemon. I'm sure there's plentiful of drinks you can make using these!
🍼: Give preference to healthy snacks and meals! Like fruits and veggies, yogurt, noodles, soup or sandwiches. Bonus points if they're arranged in a fun shape (animal, plant, star, etc)!
🧁: Keep your appetite in check! It's pretty common to lose your appetite when sick, therefore I'd say it's ideal to keep your meals smaller (and sometimes eat more often) than usual.
Taking care of yourself!
🧸: Stay hydrated! Water is always good, and if you're sick you likely need it more than usual, drinking from sippy cups, baby bottles, straw cups or any kind of fun themed cup is usually more fun and encouraging than boring adult cups.
🧶: Keep your temperature in check as well! Besides from checking if you have a fever ever so often, it's also good to keep yourself warm with blankets and heating if your body feels cold, or alternatively, turning on fans and using lighter sheets instead of blankets if you're too hot.
🧸: Beware the germs! If you got a contagious disease (like me), make sure to properly wash and disinfect anything you bring to your mouth such as pacis, teethers, bottles and cutlery before and after using them. Plus, it's important to wear a mask or ask others to wear a mask when near you as well.
🧶: Resting is key! Some of these days I'm too tired to do anything above, and I'd rather just nap the whole day, and that's okay! Sometimes being sick means not being able to do anything at all and it's important to have your extended napping time to get better.

👑Tips for littles on a budget👑
This is some tips for tinies (or carers looking for gifts for kiddos) on a budget! Of course you don't need any gear to be a good regressor but a lot of us like toys etc. and it's okay to want them!
🧸thrift stores, a lot of thrift stores have toys and plushies, sometimes they are a bit broken or dirty but there are lots of tutorials on YouTube for cleaning and restoring plushies and toys🧸
🐾e-books, you can find kids books online as e-books which are often pretty cheap or you can watch tiktoks of people reading those books🐾
🩷diy onesies, a lot of regressors like onesies but the prices are pretty steep, if you can't afford them don't fret! Its super easy and affordable to make one yourself all you need is an old t-shirt and snap buttons plus a way to attach them, just get a big t-shirt, sweatshirt or even hoodie and add 2-4 snap buttons in the crotch, boom you have a super cute and discreet onesie!🩷
🧸diy toys, there are lots of toys you can make yourself either by sewing or crafting and there's lot soft videos on YouTube for it, or get creative🧸
🐾mobile games, I love to play video games when im regressed but game consoles are expensive so free mobile games are a great alternative🐾
🩷dollar store etc, while you shouldn't rely on stores or websites that use cheap labor for everything it's okay to make exceptions every now and then, especially for toys, pacis, sippy cups and similar🩷
🧸pull ups, instead of cute printed diapers get big kid pull-ups in the baby-section or medical diapers from a drugstore, they are less then half the price of a pack of adult diapers from brands like tears etc.🧸
🐾learn to diy, making things yourself is often the most affordable thing to do, not with everything obviously but with a lot of things, learn as much stuff as you can so you can make lots of gear yourself🐾
🩷look for affordable stores, lots of paci stores on Instagram are very affordable and the ones that aren't often have sales so keep an eye out for that, lots of shops also have promoter codes they are happy for you to use, for example with my code 'bunnybab' you get a small discount at pacisbybunnie and cozypacicorner🩷
🧸buy second hand, thrift stores are a great place but if you want little specific stuff looking on vinted, swoop or even insta is a great idea! Lots of people sell gear they no longer connect with🧸
