India vs Nepal Women's Asia Cup T20 2024 Highlights: A Commanding Victory for India.
In the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024, India defeated Nepal by 82 runs, thanks in large part to the outstanding efforts of Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma.
The Indian women's cricket team made a bold statement in their thrilling match at the Ragini Dambulla International Stadium, defeating Nepal by 82 runs in their Group A match of the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024. In addition to proving Indian women's cricket's superiority, the win guaranteed the team a spot in the semifinals. Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma put up amazing performances that added a lot of colour to the match and were crucial to this convincing victory.
A Great Start by India
After winning the toss, India chose to bat and put a formidable total on the board for Nepal. Shafali Verma was the mainstay of the Indian innings, scoring 81 runs in just 48 balls with a brilliant effort. Verma put a lot of pressure on the Nepalese bowlers with his aggressive batting, which was full of sixes and boundaries. She is regarded as one of the most dangerous batters in women's cricket today because of that one of those rare blows when physical force mixed with accuracy.
Verma's innings was nicely supplemented by these valuable runs that other Indian hitters added to the scoreboard, making sure the squad made the most of the excellent start. Thanks to their combined efforts, the Indian team had reached an impressive 179 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Nepal had to play exceptionally well to chase this score, thus it was always going to be a difficult goal.
Nepal’s Struggle with the Bat
Nepal's chase never really got underway. The bowlers from India continued to chip away at regular intervals, denying the Nepalese batsmen any opportunity to settle in. With three wickets returned and a breakthrough into the Nepal top order, Deepti Sharma emerged as the game's standout batsman. Her methodical bowling demonstrated her expertise and skill, making her an essential member of the Indian team.
With two wickets apiece, Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav made significant contributions to the team's effort, each claiming two wickets. They kept Nepal's run chase below par with their ability to apply pressure and take regular wickets. The Nepalese batting team failed to form any significant partnerships, as evidenced by their innings ending at 96 for 9 in 20 overs, a deficit of 82 runs.
Key Performances and Turning Points
A few pivotal moments and standout performances during the game determined the result. The foundation for India's high total was laid by Shafali Verma's amazing batting. The tone for the Indian innings was set by her ability to attack the bowlers with a high strike rate immediately away. Verma's knock provided valuable assistance for the middle order, which ensured that the momentum did not fade.
Nepal's batting order was broken thanks in large part to bowler Deepti Sharma's three-wicket haul. The Nepalese hitters found it difficult to score freely due to her variations and control. Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav provided equally rigorous assistance, ensuring that Nepal was constantly under pressure.
Looking Ahead
This victory acted as a cautionary tale for the other teams competing in the tournament, in addition to guaranteeing India a semifinal spot at the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024. Their overall performance today demonstrated the Indian team's readiness and will to win the championship. India is a formidable team due to their potent batting lineup and adaptable attack.
The Indian women put on a graceful performance at the Ragini Dambulla International Stadium that has them headed in the right direction and toward the ultimate prize. More thrilling performances are undoubtedly in store when these gifted women enter the field. The highlights of this Indian vs. Nepal 2024 match will be remembered, especially the skill of Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma, who masterminded this decisive victory.
In the end, the Indian women's cricket team has succeeded on the world scene once more.
Their thrilling victory over Nepal in the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024 is more proof of their talent, comradery, and willpower. This is what the team will rely on as they approach the semifinals and continue to strive for the ultimate triumph.

Happy Birthday Smriti Mandhana- More than just a pretty face
Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has turned a year older and is celebrating her 25th birthday today (July 18). One of the youngest players to play for Team India, Mandhana had made her T20I and ODI debut at the age of 16. Although she had been part of international cricket for 4 years, the world cricket took note of her batting abilities in the 2017 World Cup.
The left-handed batter played a pivotal role in Team India gaining much-needed attention after her scores of 90 and 106* in the first two matches. Though her form dipped after the two fixtures, Mandhana remained to be a permanent member of the side and continues to face the new ball.
One of the senior members of the side now, Mandhana has played 3 Tests, 59 ODIs and 81 T20Is in her career. She has 167 runs in the longest format, 2253 runs in 50-over cricket and 1901 runs in the shortest format. Given her age, Mandhana can very well represent Team India for at least another decade. As Mandhana turns 25, here's a look at the 3 greatest records held by the Indian opener -
Mandhana is the youngest ever Indian player to lead the national side in the shortest format. She created history in the opening T20I of the series against England in 2019. Mandhana was 22 years and 229 days old when she led the side from the front. Mithali Raj was also part of playing XI but Mandhana has been Harmanpreet Kaur's deputy for a long time now.
Following Mandhana on the list are Harmanpreet (23 years and 237 days) and Mithali (23 years and 245 days). Mithali had retired from the shortest format in 2019
Mandhana played a key role in India's road to the 2022 World Cup qualification and emerged as the top scorer for the side. The left-handed batter finished with 911 runs in 16 matches at 65.07. She batted at a high strike-rate of 95.99 and struck 2 centuries, most for India.
She has now got a new opening partner in form of Shafali Verma and the duo can form a solid opening pair in the long run.

Smriti Mandhana Says "Failure Teaches You More Than Success" After India's Women's T20 World Cup Loss
Tumblr media
Senior India player Smriti Mandhana called for the team to be left alone after its 85-run mauling by Australia in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup final in Melbourne on Sunday. Unbeaten throughout the tournament, India were outplayed in all departments of the game by the defending champions, who clinched their fifth world title in the shortest format. "This is a time to introspect. Failure teaches you a lot more than success. The team needs to be left alone and think of how we can be better in the next few years," Mandhana said after the match.A sluggish start with the ball and in the field undermined India's attempts to overhaul the defending champions in their own backyard with the support of a 86,174 crowd at the iconic MCG.Mandhana believed India are a transformed team in the shortest format, and she attributed it to head coach WV Raman."T20 was never our best format, one-day was definitely the preferred format. Now we're playing each format equally well. That is one thing the coach has helped us with and we've developed massively," she said."The youngsters coming in have totally changed the set-up and the best part of the tournament was it was a complete team performance. That's one thing Raman has done -- developing us as a team not just one or two players. Today, it didn't work out but we've grown as a team, not just as one or two players."Mandhana's disappointing T20 World Cup -- that saw her manage a top score of 17 in four innings -- continued as India sunk to 99 all out. She also revealed she told a tearful Shafali Verma to be "really proud" of her performances despite a devastating final.Teen sensation Verma was distraught after getting out for two with the bat and drooping Alyssa Healy on nine."Shafali and I were standing together when we were receiving our medals. She was in tears. I told her she had to be really proud of the kind of campaign she'd had. When I played my first World Cup at the age of 16, I couldn't hit the ball 20 per cent of what she can hit," said Mandhana."She has to be really proud of the way she played, but she was upset with the way she got out. She's thinking already how she can be better. She should be left alone, that's the most I can tell her." Read the full article

HIGHLIGHTS
Shafali Verma got out for 2 in the final with India managing just 99 in reply to Australia’s 184 for 4
Shafali broke down after the defeat and had to be consoled by Harmanpreet Kaur and Harleen Deol
The 16-year-old opener finished as the 5th highest scorer with 163 runs from 5 matches at 32.60
India opener Shafali Verma was reduced to tears after their 85-run defeat against Australia in the Women’s T20 World Cup final against Australia in Melbourne on Sunday.
The 16-year-old Verma, who was easily the find of the tournament, failed to fire in the summit clash as India got bowled out for 99 during their 185-run chase against the Southern Stars at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Amidst the heartbreaking scenes in the Indian camp, Shafali had to be consoled by teammates Harmanpreet Kaur and Harleen Deol on the pitch even as they saw the Aussies celebrate their fifth title triumph.
Shafali though, was one of the biggest talking points in the tournament after her exploits in the group stage during which she amassed 161 runs in four games but could only add 2 more runs to her tally in the final to finish as the tournament’s 5th highest scorer.

At 16 years and 40 days old, Shafali also became the youngest player (female or male) to feature in any ICC tournament final. The record was previously held by West Indies’ women’s cricketer Shaquana Quintyne when she played the ODI World Cup final in 2013 at an age of 17 years and 45 days old.

The final was a match which Shafali would like to forget as quickly as possible as not only did she fail to fire with the bat, but also dropped an easy catch of Alyssa Healy in the first over of the game at extra-cover.
The dropped chance proved very costly for Harmanpreet Kaur’s team as Healy went on to score 75 off 39 balls with 7 boundaries and 5 sixes.
Her opening partnership of 115 runs with Beth Mooney (78 not out) laid the foundation for the hosts, who eventually managed to post 184 for 4 in 20 overs after electing to bat first.
India in reply lost Shafali in the 3rd ball of the first over bowled by Megan Schutt, who ended up grabbing 4 wickets in all. Schutts and Jess Jonassen (3/20) ran through the Indian batting lineup and bowled out the visitors inside the 20 overs.
