Yes. he thinks every girl he's currently talking to is definitely his soul mate. he has the memory of a goldfish so he will forget all about her once he sees another one. He believes in soulmates because he read Dusk and Dawn, the space equivalent of Twilight

Sigh, it's a simple formula. When it comes to women; 1. nonhuman lifeform. 2. big tiddies. 3. taller than him. i love that dipper-mabel-gideon is just stan-ford-bill, but that gideon was able to make better choices. gideon was well on his way to following right in bill's footsteps, focusing on what he thinks he deserves above and beyond all proof to the contrary.

after bill fell in love with ford, he could have changed his plans for the portal. he could have just moved to their dimension and given up his crown. but bill didn't want to take the demotion, he didn't want the party to stop, he didn't want to slow down enough for the ghosts to catch him, he didn't want anyone to start thinking they could get one over on him, not again. and rather than see how those choices would destroy what he and ford had, rather than remember the pain he was in when his dimension burnt and having empathy for ford, he barreled right through it. whether he didn't want to, or if after being alive for so long he straight up can't, is to be seen. but bill wanted it all and wasn't willing to make compromises to it.

meanwhile, dipper was able to talk gideon down. gideon was able to snap out of his own selfish and self-righteous mentality and see how much his choices and his wants were hurting the person he claimed to love. i think gideon saying "i won't let a triangle be the warden of me" shows that gideon was able to take his experience as a prisoner and project those feelings onto mabel's situation, realizing that mabel doesn't want gideon to be the warden of her either. gideon wasn't as far gone as bill was, he still knows what it's like to be a person.

and gideon is only a child too. just like bill's behavior was partially shaped by the social rejection and medical abuse he suffered on euclidea, gideon has been shaped by his mother's avoidance and his father's both encouragement and acquiescence. the pines are possibly the first people to ever tell gideon no. bill grew up in a world of no, so now that he's the one in charge he refuses to hear anything other than yes ever again. but gideon was made to realize that if he accepts mabel's no now then maybe, some day, she'll tell him yes. in some way, in any way.

gideon was willing to hurt himself for mabel, but bill will never do that for ford because bill will do anything to never be hurt again. even if he can't see how he ends up getting hurt in the end anyway.
