Summary:
It’s tough being a girl in a man’s world.
Everyone knew that phrase; yet it took a whole meaning in the world of drug lords and gangsters. When women went missing or were killed regularly at the hands of criminals, it was hard to believe that any woman could find her place among murderers and scoundrels. It was no surprise that there was confusion when a set of young women had found their way into Tokyo’s underground and could stand comfortably in a world driven by greed and deception. However, no one knew anything about them; who were they, why were they here, they were labyrinths of lies and secrets that were locked behind walls of stone.
“You should be careful with your cards. One wrong move and you could lose it all.”
“There’s a gun pointed at your head. How are you sure there isn’t a bullet in the barrel?”
“I’m willing to take my chances.”

Chapter 3: Two Can Keep A Secret If One Of Them Is Dead
Tumblr media
Nako Tsurugi was used to having her life in constant danger; she considered it to be a liability of her job. Dealing weapons wasn’t easy, but it paid good money and let her live as freely as she wished. It was the only way she knew how to make money anyways. This night wouldn’t be any different.
“Sakura, do you have all of the shipments organized for tonight?” She inquired, her attention focused on painting her nails. She extended her hand out to look at the scarlet red color she had chosen; the color matched with the red leather jacket she was wearing.
“Yes… Nako, are you sure about this? You know how Nohebi is; they’re known for swindling their partners.” Sakura looked over at her boss in concern, her brow creased as she frowned.
“I’m aware of Nohebi’s reputation and I’m not scared; I’m just as wary as you are but I’m confident in my own dealing skills. That’s one of the basic constructs of any illegal dealing: you can’t show that you fear your trading partner. That’s how they get to you.” She replied as she stroked another stripe of red onto her nail. Her assistant merely nodded, still looking quite uncertain. Nako sighed as she looked up at Sakura, who was organizing her paybooks.
“Look, I know you still aren’t used to this. You don’t have the years of experience like I do; you didn’t get to choose whether or not you wanted to be in this business.” Sakura looked over at her as Nako put down her nail polish brush and folded her hands into her lap. “I know it’s a lot to ask you to come with me when I go to a deal. I’m really glad you decide to do it every time; it’s a little less stressful when you’re there.”
She exchanged a sweet smile with Sakura as the taller girl turned around and clasped her hands in front of her.
“I know; it’s probably really hard to keep a straight face in front of all of your business partners. Almost all of them are usually really big, scary men who look like they could crush you like a toothpick. Not to mention they usually don’t take you seriously since you’re a smaller girl.” She answered, making Nako’s smile widen as she shook her head.
“Yeah. They think I’m a kid half the time and try to mess with the prices; seriously, do I really look like a high schooler?” Nako remarked just as Sakura’s phone rang. Sakura placed the phone to her ear, readjusting her expression to be serious as she grabbed her tablet.
“Nako Tsurugi’s office. This is her assistant, how may I help you?” Sakura’s voice got even sweeter than usual, sounding impossibly polite as she spoke on the phone.
“Yes… Unfortunately, Ms. Tsurugi is all booked out for the next three months. I can schedule you for the seventh at 2 in the morning… Of course! I’ll just need the contract faxed over before to review the terms of the deal…” Sakura nodded as she looked through Nako’s schedule, taking down notes with her phone squeezed between her ear and shoulder.
Nako turned her attention away from her secretary at the sound of her phone receiving a message, looking down to see it was from Yuri. She crossed her legs as she picked up the phone and saw that Yuri had sent her a photo of the latter posing with a black cat stuffed animal.
‘hey, its u. i think ill buy it so u have a lil friend.’
Nako rolled her eyes as she quickly typed up a response, a smile tugging at her lips.
‘k. why tho.’
Yuri was quick to reply, with Nako’s phone dinging only a few seconds after she had sent her response.
‘don’t be catty. ill have it sent over later. luv u. ( ˘ ³˘)♥’
Despite whatever animosity the two showed each other when they saw each other in person, Nako had to admit that Yuri was probably her only actual friend. Sakura probably wouldn’t be as good to her unless she was her boss. Yuri acted quite tame over text messages, always sending her cute messages and pictures she’d take while out during the day; it seemed like for a second, she was just an ordinary young woman living her life in the big metropolitan city of Tokyo. Of course she probably knew better than to send important, possibly illegal information over the phone. Tokyo’s underground was full of expert hackers that would probably consider breaching a personal smartphone to be pocket change for them.
Nako turned off her phone and looked out of the window by her office, getting a view of the dreary and fog-ridden Port of Tokyo, with large cargo ships blaring their loud horns a few minutes as imports and exports were carted in and out consistently. Her thoughts shifted to all the stowaways that were probably hidden among the cargo and had escaped from some terrible life before to the capital of Japan. Sometimes those stowaways were also victims of human trafficking as well, brought over by international members of the Yakuza from poor, third world countries to be sold as either sex slaves or to be harvested for their organs. She had had many run-ins with the latter in her earlier years in Japan, as some Yakuza would often offer her these human beings to her as a form of payment for certain types of highly coveted weapons.
The petite girl always showed sympathy towards these poor, often women and children, buying them off and trying her best efforts to have them returned to their home countries. Their wide, scared eyes and quivering lips always seemed to strike a chord in her heart; they reminded her of a little girl she knew all too well.
“Please!”
Nako shuddered before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. The game was different now. She had her hand on the trigger and she would decide who gets a bullet.
“Alright, I think we’re ready to go. We can head over to Nekoma’s now to get your car tuned up.” Sakura turned around, grabbing her purse and slipping her tablet inside. Nako nodded as she got up, grabbing her black clutch and slipping on her sunglasses. She opened up her desk drawer, revealing a whole collection of car keys. Her hand hovered over the keys for a few moments before deciding to pick up a set of keys from the middle, which belonged to one of the many expensive luxury cars she owned and collected.
“Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve taken my One-77 out. Can you believe I bought this car after that deal with that guy in Fukuoka? Crazy how time flies by; one day you’ve just started collecting cars and the next thing you know, you’ve got a whole collection of them.” She mused before they walked out, locking up her office before heading down the steps of her office. The loud banging of machinery and of forklifts beeping mixed in with the shouting of her workers as the two walked over to the back of the warehouse, passing by groups of men and women as they moved inventory back and forth throughout the warehouse. Nako took out her keys and pulled out a smaller one, unlocking a small door that opened to a hallway, where at the end was an elevator.
Once they had reached the basement level, the doors opened to Nako’s favorite sight in the world: her sports car collection. She smiled, humming a little tune as she strutted by all the cars, which were mostly red save for two silver cars at the very end. She stopped in front of her Aston Martin One-77, a very expensive gift she had bought for herself after earning a major payout from her first major weapons deal in Japan. She unlocked the car with a satisfying beep before swinging in, with Sakura joining her on the passenger’s side. She sighed in bliss as she sank into the leather seat, breathing in the air around her; it smelled just as new as when she bought it.
“I forgot how much I adore this car; if it weren’t so expensive, maybe I’d take it out more.” She beamed before plugging the keys into the ignition, the sound of the engine being music to her ears alone. Sakura clicked on her seatbelt before Nako opened her garage door and they headed out into Nerima City.
The drive to Nekoma’s tune shop took just over half an hour since Nerima City was so inland. Every head turned as the One-77 rolled into the shop; they all knew who it was. Nako turned off the engine and stepped out, waving politely as the shop’s staff gaped in awe.
“Hello boys! I’ve come in for my quarterly. My One-77 needs some love after being left at home all day long. Fukurodani couldn’t take in another one of my babies so I need it tuned up ASAP.” She greeted them, patting the hood of her car. Kuroo, noticing the pause in work, emerged from behind a car to see Nako Tsurugi in all her glory. He smiled awkwardly as he approached her, wiping his greasy hands on his stained jeans.
“Nako… it’s been a minute, huh?” He rubbed the back of his neck as he averted his gaze.
“I guess it has. How have you been?” She inquired, raising an eyebrow at his reticent behavior. By now, she expected some form of pickup line from him or something about her height. Her eyes wandered down to the dirty muscle tee he had on, which exposed his muscled arms and the large dragon sleeve that curled around his left. Damn. If Kuroo didn’t annoy her to bits so often, he might have been the kind of guy she’d be down to sleep with. “Do you know where my regular is?”
He fumbled around his words for a bit, murmuring something incoherent before nodding and gesturing for her to follow him to the back of the shop. Kuroo watched his steps carefully, making sure to walk slower since Nako was much shorter than him.
“Alright, she should be over-KENMA, WHAT THE FUCK?!” Kuroo’s eyes were practically popping out of his head as his jaw dropped at the sight he saw.
“Masuko Masagami, you little hoe! I’m impressed!” Nako smirked as she witnessed Kenma making out with Nako’s regular mechanic. Kenma had Masuko pinned onto the hood of a car, his lips glued onto hers as one of his hands had snaked under her cropped hoodie. The blue haired girl gasped as Kenma pulled away, looking equally mortified. The typically reserved mechanic quickly got off of her, a hot blush dusting his cheeks as Masuko fixed her bobbed hair, also blushing heavily as she sat on the car hood.
“T-tsurugi! I didn’t know you were coming in today!” She was still panting slightly from making out with Kenma, who was trying to look away to avoid embarrassment.
“Masuko, I’m so proud of you! This is the most romantic thing I’ve seen you do with Kenma since you two started dating!” Nako giggled as Masuko covered her face, groaning in exasperation.
“Please shut up…” She shook her head as her cheeks turned even more red.
“Now now, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Couples make out all the time; Kenma is your boyfriend and you deserve a little dick for all the hard work you do.” Nako said, winking at Masuko, who groaned even louder. Kenma walked over to her and gently helped her off the hood before she hid her face in his hoodie.
“I was going to ask you to do a tune up for my car, but I can see that you’re busy. Have fun and be safe, my lovebirds!” She called out before turning around and walking away with Kuroo, who was still in shock. He didn’t even think Kenma had the audacity to be so bold and make out with his girlfriend at work.
“Holy shit, I didn’t think Kenma had it in him to go pull a move like that on Poker Face. Damn Kenma, get some I guess.” He shrugged as Nako walked over to a short man with light brown hair.
“Yaku, I need a tune up on my One-77. Masuko’s a little… occupied at the moment.” She said as he turned around, smiling cheekily as he greeted her.
“About time someone came in and stopped them! I was wondering how long it’d take before they stopped sucking face!” He joked as Nako handed him the keys to her car. “Just a regular checkup? No mods today?”
“Mmhm. The One-77’s perfect the way it is so I just need an oil change and maybe get my tires rotated.” Yaku nodded before heading off to grab her Aston Martin.
“I tried to convince Akaashi to take another car in, but he’s already busy modifying my Enzo.” She sighed as she tucked her hair behind her ear. “I should probably be happy Akaashi landed me a spot when they were so booked; I guess my Aston Martin won’t be getting it’s usual luxury car treatment.”
“I swear, you’re the weirdest client we’ve ever gotten in this shop. Seriously, you trust this band of idiots with an expensive, probably irreplaceable foreign car?” He asked, smiling slyly as Nako watched Yaku drive the car up onto a platform to raise it up.
“You’d be surprised with how easy it is to take care of such a car. It’s my most high tech car to date and it’s perfect for racing in the streets or on a track. A bit modern for the street racing scene, but I’ve always liked the attention my cars give me.” She commented as the car was lifted up, Yaku getting under it along with another one of Nekoma’s mechanics, Shibayama. “Besides, I left my most expensive car in Akaashi’s hands, so I’m a little less worried.”
“I’m honestly amazed you managed to get your hands on a Ferrari. Seriously, the Enzo’s a collector’s item and you just happen to have it sitting in your garage.” Kuroo looked down at Nako, who had her hands folded as she quietly watched Masuko emerge from the back to hand Yaku the specialized tools she used on foreign makes like Nako’s.
“I had bought it shortly after I had met Mitsuma for the first time. We both coincidentally met the same French collector; he had sold his Enzo to me after he had lost almost his entire name in a game of poker with Yuri. He was forced to give up almost everything to her: his cars, his houses, everything. He was desperate so he sold it to me for 1.75 million euros, which was way below it’s true value. Mitsuma had stopped by to collect the rest of his debt when he had just finished doing business with me and it was amusing to find out we shared Ferraris from the same collector. She had received his F50 and his Bugatti EB110 along with a slew of properties in Europe and on tiny tropical islands all strewn along the Pacific Ocean.” Nako explained before looking over at the raven haired man. “I’ve never really had a chance to talk about my cars before; usually people are more interested in just looking at them. That’s why no one’s ever seen my full collection. It’s hard to find people who are interested in who you are than what you’re made of.”
“I’ll always be there to listen to you if you need it. We don’t have to just talk about cars.” Kuroo offered her a soft smile. “I’ll always be there for you, Nako.”
Nako smiled back out of courtesy.
Liar. A soft voice hissed in her head as she continued to watch Yaku and Shibayama work on her car. Everyone was always the same; they only wanted her for two things: her body or her money. It was less cruel of her when she purposely expressed disdain for him; the worst form of torture always came with false faces of affection and meaningless claims of love.
“Alright Minnie, the car’s in tip top shape. You’re free to go.” Yaku said, handing over her keys as Shibayama lowered the car to the ground. Nako scooped them out of his hand before putting on her sunglasses again and waving over Sakura, who was talking with Lev.
“See ya later, D.K.. I’ll have to show you my car collection one day if you’re so interested.” She waved goodbye before swinging into her One-77 and driving away with her assistant, leaving Kuroo and the rest of Nekoma Crew behind. Kuroo had on the same soft, dazed smile as he watched the cherry red car disappear into the distance, a soft flush of red on his cheeks.
“You’re so obvious that it’s gross.” Kenma deadpanned, joining Kuroo’s side with his arms crossed.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Snake Eyes.” Kuroo replied, losing his smile as Kenma rolled his eyes.
“Please, are you a high schooler? Just admit you like Minnie like a fucking adult; you’re already way past the age to be beating around the bush.” Kenma scoffed, shaking his head in exasperation.
“I don’t like her; I’m intrigued by her. She’s just an interesting girl, that’s all.” Kuroo admitted, sniffing snidely.
“And you wonder why you don’t have a girlfriend yet…” Kenma muttered. Kuroo was never one to stay too interested in anyone for a long time, so the fact that Nako had managed to garner this kind of behavior from Kuroo immediately set her apart from any of his past flings. Even Kenma had to admit that the aura of mystery Nako had piqued his interest slightly since she seemed so normal on the surface.
Kenma only knew snippets of Nako’s life through talking with Masuko, his girlfriend. Masuko had been Nako’s regular mechanic long before she joined Nekoma Crew and started working with them; only when she started dating Kenma did she start to work for Nekoma Crew. Masuko’s mechanical skills were more technologically based, so they didn’t apply to most of Nekoma’s cars; her specialty lay in foreign models like Nako’s.
“Speaking of girlfriends, how’d you manage to land someone like Poker Face? Neither of you like the idea of socializing, much less the idea of dating.” Kuroo asked as Kenma sighed, his fingers tracing over the black bracelet on his wrist.
“Masuko and I met like a normal couple; Masuko was trying to rig one of my cars to crash for one of her clients and I happened to catch her in the act. Things just moved from there.” Kenma’s expression lightened up as his thoughts wandered over to that fateful night he caught Masuko installing a transmitter onto the Toyota 86 he was supposed to drive that night.
“Who are you and what the hell do you think you’re doing to my car?”
Kenma scowled at the small figure crouched by his car, his arms crossed as he glared at them. They were dressed in all black and had on a black face mask, only revealing their big grey-brown eyes. Their eyes flashed with fear for a second before they quickly got up to run. Kenma ran after them and soon had their face slammed against a car hood, their arm twisted behind their back.
“I asked who you were and what the hell did you do to my car?” He snapped, applying more pressure to their wrist and making them grunt in pain. The saboteur remained silent, refusing to disclose their identity even with the sound of their voice. Kenma turned them around, ripping off their face mask and revealing the delicate features of a petite girl. The girl gasped as her hood fell back, revealing a long cascade of blonde hair.
“Are you gonna answer my question or not?” He asked, his voice cold as he kept her pinned down between his arms.
“I was hired to take you out, alright?” She replied quietly, her brow furrowed with annoyance as she shifted uncomfortably. “My name’s Masuko. Masuko Masagami.”
“Masuko had been hired by someone who I had crossed paths with in the United States. I paid her double to give me the information on them and to have them eliminated. We started getting close after the job was done and I found out she needed a new cover for her actual job as a computer hacker on the Dark Web. That’s when I brought her here to come work for Nekoma.” He explained, his face having lost all annoyance he had before. However, that softened expression quickly disappeared when he heard a loud crash and turned around to see that Lev had knocked over a toolbox.
“LEV, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!”
“Sorry Yaku!”
Kenma grumbled a few unkind words before stomping over to scold out the giant Russian, leaving Kuroo to stare out at the empty road where Nako’s car had been before.
I’d like to see your cars one day, Nako… Maybe even get to know you a little more…
“I’m here with your kitty cat!”
Nako gave the tall woman in front of her a lopsided smile as the latter entered her office, with a Gucci bag on one arm and a shopping bag in the other. Yuri smiled cheekily as she placed the bag in front of Nako before taking a seat on the couch she had across from her desk. Nako pulled out the large stuffed cat, which had a tuft of fur covering one of it’s large yellow eyes.
“Why’d you get me such a weird looking one? Look, it's blind in one eye.” She said, pointing to the little tuft of fur. Yuri waved it off as she placed her purse on the coffee table and kicked her feet up onto the couch, leaning her head back against one of it’s plush pillows.
“It was a steal! Can you believe they make cats this big for ¥1500?!” Nako shook her head at Yuri’s exclamations, placing the cat down and resting her hands on it.
“Yet how much did you spend on that Gucci bag of yours? I’m guessing around ¥50,000?” She rolled her eyes as she leaned back into her office chair. “I swear I will never understand your logic about buying things.”
“We’re young, my dear Tsurugi. At least I spend money on you.” Yuri remarked, smiling as she closed her eyes.
“You know, sometimes I feel like this is just the more polite way of getting me into your debt somehow.” Nako gave Yuri an unamused look, to which Yuri scoffed at her claims.
“Please. I only keep track of the people who carry monetary value to me. You’re just a special case.” Yuri replied, making the petite girl smile sarcastically.
“Thank you for your generous contribution. Why don’t you direct that unlimited cash flow of yours towards something less ridiculous? I heard donating to charity really helps with image and throws cops off your scent.” Nako commented, looking away as she placed the stuffed cat on top of a file cabinet.
“Mm, maybe a children’s charity I guess? People seem to enjoy that; I still don’t understand how people can find a bunch of sniveling toddlers adorable. Children are such a waste on the economy yet somehow I should be popping out babies at this age. Ridiculous.” Yuri mused, shaking her head.
“God, I hope you actually aren’t planning to have kids. No child deserves a mother like you.” Nako looked over at Yuri, who was looking at the rings on her fingers.
“Alas, Kitty Cat. I got an IUD a few years back; I ain’t having no babies anytime soon.” She piqued her head up in curiosity. “What about you, Tsurugi? You planning on having kids?”
Nako scrunched her nose as she gave her an uncertain look.
“I don’t know, maybe? If things ever settled down, I might. I wouldn’t mind having one or two kids.” She replied, which made Yuri’s face twist in slight disagreement.
“You wanna rip open your vagina for a crying, whiny lump of meat? Oh my God, you poor thing. I can’t imagine what it’d do to that teeny tiny body of yours.” Yuri gave her an uncomfortable look before shuddering. “Nope nope, not for me.”
“Unlike you, I’d teach my children to be better than I am now. Besides, it’s just a thought for the future; it's not like there’s any prospective men I can have children with.” Nako replied dryly, crossing her arms as Yuri settled back down.
“So, you free tonight? We can go clubbing at the Club Cleopatra; I just upgraded it’s VIP rooms.” Yuri offered, making Nako shake her head as she took a seat.
“Can’t. I have an important deal tonight.” Nako frowned as she tapped her nails against the wooden desk. “It’s with Nohebi.”
“The Nohebi Clan? What the fuck are you doing dealing with a bunch of snakes like that?” Yuri inquired carelessly, closing her eyes again.
“Fangs offered me a hundred million yen of North Korean weapons for two of my best shipments of modified full-automatics. Considering how hard it is to get those shipments into the country these days, it was one of the steepest offers I had gotten in a while. I’ll risk it if it means a good payout.” Nako explained, which made Yuri frown.
“What happens when the deal goes bad? Who’s gonna bail you out?”
“I’ve got contacts. Don’t worry about it.”
“That’s what you said last time when we threw that piece of shit from Okinawa off of his own boat. I still had to save your ass then.” Yuri commented.
“I’m not underestimating them; I just don’t want to seem too strung up that they back out of the deal. Besides, there’s cameras all over that warehouse. What they do will get caught on film and it so happens that my cameras are old enough that they don’t record live audio.” Nako stated before her eyes shifted over to the large calendar that laid flat on her desk, which had labeled that day as a shipment day. Her warehouse had sent out several shipments of machine parts along with smuggled weapons out to a client in Shanghai.
“Alright Tsurugi; I’m just warning you. We wouldn’t want you in a situation where your tail’s between your legs.” Yuri replied. Nako raised an eyebrow at her as she stood back up and looked over at the port.
“Is that supposed to be an insult or a compliment?” She asked crisply, making Yuri smile amusingly.
“You know I’m never the one to be nice with my insults, Tsurugi. You’ve got everyone wrapped around that pretty little finger but me and I know it drives you absolutely nuts. I’m not the master manipulator; you are.” Yuri cooed, which made Nako scoff softly. She didn’t seriously think Yuri could get any more narcissistic.
“Well, I’m going to be just fine and I’ll get around a hundred million yen in weapons in the end. Go hide in one of your casinos if you can’t handle seeing people actually work.”
The deal with Nohebi hasn’t gone as she had wished but she had gotten what she had wanted. The four trucks of North Korean weapons had proven themselves to be worth their amount and Sakura was already drafting up numbers. A few bruises and cuts were nothing in comparison to the amount of money she’d make.
“Nako, we already have two clients who’d like to purchase the weapons. One in Ghana and one in Singapore. Weapons collectors. The weapons situation has gotten to be so tight in Pyeongyang that they’re willing to get it from you.” Sakura explained quickly as she showed her the profiles on her tablet. Nako glanced over the two men briefly before returning her attention to her workers.
“Run background checks and cross-reference them with criminal records. Clients from Singapore make me feel uneasy after that mass murder in Jakarta.” Sakura nodded before heading back to her office. Nako sighed as her workers unloaded the tightly wrapped weapons over to the crates in preparation for packaging. Even with the number of clients she got, her job was terribly boring aside for the occasional shootout like the night before.
“Tsurugi!”
Nako turned over towards the shipping dock to see Kuroo, walking in with all his messy haired glory. She pulled down her large sunglasses to peer at him as he joined her side.
“Good morning, D.K..” She greeted him as he stuck his hands into the pockets of his bomber jacket.
“Hey… um, how are you? I mean, after last night-”
“I’m fine. Fangs barely did anything.” Nako said shortly, ignoring the stinging bruises on her ribs and jaw. The last thing she needed was a man pitying her because her small stature gave them the idea she needed saving.
“I know I came off as pushy last night, so I wanted to say sorry for that. It just came out of me on impulse. I can’t believe Fangs was sick enough to do that to you and Sakura.” He looked over at her to see her reaction, which was just a soft exhale.
“Don’t worry; people always tend to assume I can’t handle my own because I’m small. At least you apologized for patronizing me.” She said, crossing her arms as Kuroo nodded.
“So, what’d you get out of shooting down Fangs and his rat pack? I’m sure it was quite substantial.” He asked as he watched her workers empty out another truck.
“Around four shipments in North Korean firearms and a couple hundred kilos of low quality drugs. I’m letting Mitsuma have the drugs as a way to repay her for taking care of most of them last night. The weapons are worth more anyways.” She explained just as she heard Yuri’s voice call for her.
“Minnie! We’re here!”
Nako had allowed Yuri to evaluate the drugs with Kuroo and Oikawa since they weren’t of interest to her. She walked back to her office, telling Sakura on the way that she’d be handling some very sensitive documents and requested to be alone.
She closed the door of her office before pulling down the blinds and locking the door. Once she was sure she wouldn’t be seen, she walked over to the bookcase that rested on the back wall of her office. Grabbing a particular book with gold markings on its spine, she pulled back on it. The old wood of the bookcase creaked before hissing as the bookcase cracked open to reveal a secret room.
The secret room was one of the few advantages of purchasing Sakanoshita’s warehouse; there were secret rooms everywhere, like her car garage in the basement. She smirked ruefully as she leaned down towards the floor, quite pleased at what she was looking at.
“Comfortable?” She asked cruelly as Daishou’s hateful eyes glared back. She walked into the room and shut the bookcase behind her, dragging his tied up body over to the middle of the small room. She forced him to his knees and secured him tightly to the hooks on the floor, making sure he wasn’t on equal footing to her. After tying him down, she pulled up a chair in front of him and sat down, crossing her legs before pulling off his gag.
“You sick bitch.” He spat, making Nako grin as she crooked her head over slightly to the right.
“Aw, is the little snake talking back now? You should be grateful I didn’t toss you in with the rest of your motley crew; it would’ve been too generous of me to allow you to die.” She taunted, making him growl as he tugged helplessly against his restraints.
“Why am I alive then?! You took my weapons and killed some of my top men! You even said my money wouldn’t save me!” He snarled, which garnered no explosive reaction from her. She only stared down in amusement before she removed her sunglasses. Daishou’s angry expression faltered for a second when he saw no emotion in those amber eyes. It was almost terrifying to see the warm color look so cold.
She uncrossed her legs and rested her foot against his shoulder, making him whimper as she pushed against the gunshot wound she had inflicted only a few hours ago.
“Suguru Daishou, the leader of one of Tokyo’s most prevalent Yakuza clans. A man known for his treachery in the criminal world and has established himself as a venomous snake who everyone should fear. Who knew that was all an act? Now that I have you in front of me,” Nako pushed down on his shoulder harder, relishing in the cry of pain he made. “I can see you’re nothing but a scared little boy who’s begging for his life. Pathetic.”
She grinned as he bowed his head, his body sagging down with the pressure of her foot.
Daishou had really reached a new low at this point. To be shot twice by Diamond like a dog was already a large pill to swallow for him; he was a prideful man and his enjoyment derived from witnessing other people’s pain and loss. The Nohebi Clan was known for its swindling ways and how they’d cheat their way out of trouble and how’d they would ways to cheat their clients out of money as well; Daishou was their filthiest cheater in the clan and was an expert at turning things in his favor with his lying tongue and his expertly played words. That was how he had been able to keep the Nohebi Clan on top as one of the most prevalent clans in Tokyo; they were small but they were rolling in cash.
Now here the proud leader was, being treated worse than dirt by a girl who he had severely underestimated. Nako Tsurugi had the looks of an expensive porcelain doll, so pretty and innocent. Those doe-like amber eyes and delicate features looked so fragile that with one strike that they’d be ruined forever. Dressed in lace and satin, with luscious raven locks and adorned in sparkling jewelry, she seemed more fit to be posed in a shop window in Shibuya than be out dealing weapons to dangerous men. As much as it disgusted him, her innocent face reminded him of his Mika. They both shared a simple, sweet quality in appearance and any person would have been none the wiser.
Mika wasn’t like Nako when it came to their inner selves. Mika was sweet, shy, kind, and a loving soul. She lit every room she entered and shined brighter than the sun on a clear day. Everyone could see that and would never have their guard up around a warm girl like her.
Nako was cruel, cunning, and deceptive. She was far more intelligent than most people would assume and her face only served to her benefit. It was almost like a mask, a pretty costume she could put on a show with, and what a show she could put on.
Nako was like the nightshade plant; so beautiful to look at and showed no signs of being poisonous. However, one bite at her was enough to disarm someone and allowed her to slowly take over their body, killing them from the inside and only when they were at death’s door, she revealed her true deadly nature. Daishou had paid this price dearly when he had forced his hand on her. Now he was suffering a fate worse than death, being beaten and allowed to suffer from the pains of his wounds and the pain of his ego being reduced to nothing.
“I know that you’re far too reckless and stupid to have gotten those weapons directly from North Korea. So, you’re gonna tell me who your dealer is. Tell me how you had gotten in contact with this dealer or,” Nako shifted her foot to the crown of his head and shoved it down harshly to the ground. “I’ll keep you here for as long as I want. If you think you can starve yourself, I’ll have someone shove the food and water down your throat. I think it’s only proper you know the fear your precious Mika knew the night she nearly died.”
Daishou let out a strangled cry as his head slammed against the cold concrete floor, which made his ears ring and his vision blur. He took a shaky breath before rasping out a name.
“JoonHwan Lee. His name was JoonHwan Lee.”
Nako’s body froze as her foot lifted off of his head in shock. Daishou coughed violently, taking in wheezing breaths as the sadism and anger left Nako’s body. She felt paralyzed upon even hearing his name. JoonHwan Lee. The man who was the reason she was in this business in the first place.
Nako’s eyes frantically searched the small room, her body unable to move from her spot in the chair. His voice filled her head, his cruel words clouding her thoughts as her breath shook, her heart beating rapidly in her tightening chest. Her fingers gripped the edge of her chair tightly in an attempt to ground herself back in reality; he wasn’t here and he couldn’t hurt her. Wasn’t that the case?
She wanted to scream as those horrible images flashed across her head, the screams and squelch of a knife entered a body echoing in her ears. Her vision flashes red when she sees him, standing in the corner, his back to her as he faced that bloodied girl. His fist was tightly encased around a large knife, which dripped crimson blood onto the floor. She wanted him to stop all of this. She couldn’t watch anymore, but her eyes remained fixed on him in terror. Nako felt like she was swallowing a ball of thick cotton, her tongue dry as he slammed his knife into the girl once more, her limp body easily taking the blade. She could feel the bile rising up her throat as he tossed away the knife in disgust.
She trembled when he turned around, those dark eyes like inky voids of nothing. His face was sprinkled with blood, with several droplets dripping from his nose and lips. His hands were coated in dark blood as he flexed out his fingers to stretch them.
“Is something wrong, little one?”
He was getting closer and closer but she couldn’t move. Nako could only stare as he grabbed her face with his disgusting hand and harshly pulled it up. There was no kindness or sympathy left in him, only insanity.
“Be a good girl or you’ll end up like her.”
Nako shut her eyes, her eyes stinging with pain. When she opened them again, he was gone. She wiped the back of her hand against her cheek and pulled it back to see no blood. She shivered as she felt his hand on her face. She felt so dirty having felt his touch. Her breaths grew shorter as her skin flared and tingled like it was on fire. She had to get back to the real world; she couldn’t let him have this kind of control over her anymore. It wasn’t her fault. It wasn’t her fault.
Nako exhaled, her breathing finally slowing down as her heart banged against her chest. It wasn’t her fault that the girl had died. She couldn’t blame herself for what he had done. She wasn’t the monster; JoonHwan was. She had run away years ago and escaped his clutches; he didn’t know where she had gone and he probably wouldn’t care enough to go look for her. The sad truth about her escape was that Nako was easily replaceable and he probably had a new girl he was subjecting the same horrors she had endured during her years in South Korea.
“Tell me about him. Tell me what you remember when you made the deal.” She asked Daishou coldly, hiding her shaking hands in her lap as Daishou forced himself to get back up onto his knees again.
“He was desperate for money. My boys told me that he used to swindle college girls before, but he ran into the daughter of a police commissioner last year and she ended up ruining him. He lost everything and was a wanted fugitive in Seoul. He runs the weapons from North Korea now to just survive. He knew you were dealing over here and wanted me to sell them to you. He knew you’d be up to buy them.” He explained before coughing, with blood dripping out from a corner of his mouth.
Nako sighed before standing up, looking down at Daishou with disgust. She undid the ties to the ground and hoisted the man onto the chair she had been sitting on, making sure to secure him tightly.
“You’ve done your job well, little snake. Why don’t you rest up while I go get the med kit? We gotta make sure you don’t die, right?” She taunted him before leaving. Nako walked as confidently as she could, not allowing him to hear a trace of fear as she tightly clasped her now badly shaking hands. Nako slammed the bookcase closed before sliding down to the ground, hugging her knees to try to stop the shaking.
She hated the fact that JoonHwan still brought out such terrible reactions from her; it tore down every fiber of pride she had in her body and made her feel like a caged animal. Even the mention of his name rendered her body stiff and helpless, making her see the terrible memories she tried so hard to bury. Her legs dropped to the ground as Nako stared at her hands in horror. She could still see the blood staining her hands.
Nako ran off to the bathroom, turning on the sink and roughly scrubbed at her hands. Nako’s heart was racing in her now aching chest as she continued to scrub all the blood she saw on her hands. No matter how hard she tried, the blood wouldn’t wash off. She looked up at the mirror, the ugly white lights shining down on her face, emphasizing all the gaunt shadows she often used makeup to hide. Nako’s head fell as she stared at the sink, watching the luminous water sink down the drain as her hands braced themselves on the edge of the sink. His blood would always stain her skin; no amount of water could scrub away her sins.
Her breath trembled as she examined her pale hands, which were pink and raw. Nako swallowed before grabbing her lace gloves, pulling them over her hands, She put on her dark sunglasses; no one was allowed to see the fear in her eyes. She had already made that mistake once and she wasn’t intending to slip up again.
“Masuko. I need a favor.”
Nako was lounging in her apartment, her legs crossed as she spoke on the phone with her regular mechanic at the Nekoma Tune Shop.
“What is it? You know it ain’t gonna be cheap.” Masuko showed no emotion over the phone as Nako smirked.
“Looks like I’ll have to pay you double. Its international. I need you to look into a certain criminal.”
“A criminal overseas? What is he? Ex-KGB? Neo-Nazi?”
“No, no. He’s a weapons dealer in South Korea. I need you to look into a man named JoonHwan Lee.”
“That sounds easy enough? What, is he one of your exes?”
Nako laughed sarcastically before she smirked viciously.
“Something like that. Get a hold of him for me? I know your contacts in Seoul have plenty of information on that piece of shit.”
Masuko hummed before going silent, the only sound being heard for a few minutes being the distant sound of a keyboard typing.
“Okay, according to sources around the Seoul underground, JoonHwan Lee is in deep debt to a gangster named SungJin Do. Apparently the gangster was the one responsible for keeping Lee out of jail on embezzlement charges. Lee has contacts in North Korea that had been providing him with weapons that he can sell to clear his debt. Lee’s apparently dumb enough to keep online reciepts of these transactions on the Dark Web. He’s got enough evidence to have him placed on death row in South Korea.”
Nako grinned as she sat up.
“Oh, do tell more. I know he’s done more than just conspiring with the North.”
Masuko sighed before continuing.
“He’s also responsible for several snuff films on the Dark Web. He’s sold these films for millions of Korean won. God, just seeing their descriptions is making me sick.”
Nako could feel the bile rising up her throat at the mention of the snuff films. They were a favorite of JoonHwan’s many side hustles; he could make so much money while embracing the worst parts of his psychopathy. The worst part was that he kept Nako in the same room while he filmed himself brutally murdering young, impressionable college girls he would lure back to his home with his charm and wit. Those poor girls were treated as examples towards Nako so she’d always fear him. Nako was supposed to be another one of those girls, but he had spared her. In his own sick way, he had developed some form of feelings for her. Perhaps he did care for her enough that he chose to not kill her instead.
After what had happened with Daishou, Nako had come to the realization of how much power JoonHwan still held over her and the fact that he was still alive and breathing was eating away at her sanity. So why not get rid of the bastard? After all, he deserved to be put to death for what he had put her through. Someone so vile didn’t deserve to be walking on the same planet as her.
“So, what’cha want me to do with him?”
“I need this information sent over anonymously to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Station. I’ll pay you an extra a hundred thousand if you can get it done by tonight. The bastard’s a traitor to his country and will be easy pickings for the police. They won’t let a national traitor like him get past the city’s bounds. With the added charges of first-degree murder, illegal weapons dealing, and embezzelment, they’ll have a stake through his head in no time.”
“Do you treat all of your exes like this? Or is this one a particularly nasty piece of work?”
“That depends; Lee just happens to have fallen into a special category of people I wouldn’t hesitate to kill in a heartbeat.”
“Alright, I’ll get it done by tonight. I expect all that money in my account in a couple of days.”
“You never cease to amaze me, Poker Face. Nako out.”
Nako took a deep breath of satisfaction as she ended the call, leaning back on her couch and closing her eyes. Once JoonHwan had been dealt with, she’d get to live her life without the worry of him ever looming over her shoulder.
Don’t lie to yourself, Tsurugi… He’s always gonna stay in your head… That’s how he gets off… He knows that he’ll remain in your life forever…
“Must you ruin everything?!” She yelled, sitting up straight angrily. Nako scoffed as she looked around her apartment. Who was she even talking to? It was just her own cynical mind trying to drive her even more crazy. Nako shook her head as she sighed. She had to let go of her time in Seoul if she wanted to get rid of thoughts of him in her head.
Nako got up from the couch and stood by the window, looking out at all the rundown apartment buildings around her. Despite having the money to afford a better living situation, Nako found comfort in living in a small apartment in a quieter part of Tokyo. It was what grounded her down in reality and made her feel a little more normal; she constantly seeked for small outlets to escape from her life as a weapons dealer and if it meant living in a cramped apartment by herself, so it would be.
Nako looked down when she heard a small mewl, smiling at the small black cat that was nudging her leg.
“You hungry, Midnight? Alright, let’s get you dinner.” She cooed, walking over to the kitchen. Well, she was alone save for the stray cat she had adopted from the streets. Midnight was sickly and starving when Nako had first met her. Nako had just finished moving in when she noticed a small black cat that would show up outside of her apartment to hunt the rats that plagued the building. The cat would be sitting on the little landing in front of her door, holding the body of a dead rat between its fangs, the head long discarded. The cat was never afraid of Nako; often leaving those dead rats at her doorstep as small, unwanted welcoming gifts for the lonely weapons dealer.
After a week of finding dead rats at her doorstep, Nako decided to leave out a bowl of water and canned tuna for the cat, the small act of kindness being a nice distraction everyday from the daunting pressures of escaping JoonHwan in Seoul and moving back to Japan. Midnight started visiting her more frequently, sitting on her doorstep expectedly; it was almost like she was waiting for Nako to let her come inside. She eventually took Midnight in, cleaning her up and giving her all the proper vaccinations before indulging herself by spoiling the cat. Midnight ate expensive cat food for her meals and often wore one of the many fancy collars Nako had bought for her. In a way, Midnight was Nako’s first friend in Japan after she had returned and provided her with much-needed emotional support.
“I should be happy that Lee’s gonna get his ass busted, right? I mean, he made me watch him murder a bunch of innocent girls! He had it coming!” She looked over to the cat, who was silently licking up her bowl of wet cat food. If there was one advantage to having a cat, it was that Midnight never spoke back and Nako was allowed free range to speak whatever was on her mind. It was far better than going to Yuri or Sakura about her problems and Midnight would listen to her for hours as long as she got a few treats in between.
“I shouldn’t feel bad, right? I didn’t kill those girls; he did. Even if I couldn’t save them or do anything… It’s not my fault right?”
Midnight looked up from her meal, looking quite annoyed. She probably couldn’t believe this human had the audacity to bother her with their problems while she was trying to eat.
“I probably should’ve done something though… Maybe I could’ve saved a girl… But I was so scared he’d kill me that I couldn't even move…” Nako’s breath shook slightly as she braced herself against the counter. The cat only mewled in reply, more focused on eating.
“Oh my God, those poor girls…” She murmured, closing her eyes as her grip tightened on the counter. Her ears were ringing as flashes of those memories started trickling back in her consciousness. She could still hear all the screaming. Why couldn't she ever look away when he killed them?
Nako was brought back quickly with a nudge to her leg, with Midnight mewing as she looked up to the petite girl expectedly.
“Geez, you’re still hungry?” She asked, grabbing another can of food as Midnight meowed loudly in impatience.
“Okay, okay! You don’t have to be so pushy!” She emptied out the can into the bowl, with Midnight eating away happily. Nako sighed as she scratched behind the cat’s ears.
“Thanks for that. I almost had another episode.” She smiled at the cat before her stomach growled. Looks like it was dinner time for her too.
Nako whipped up a quick dinner of fried fish and rice, eating it while sitting on her couch watching a cheesy Korean drama. It was often what she would do when she studied in Seoul and wanted to relax after a long day of classes. The simple meal was often what she could afford from the market and she would only eat that item until it ran out.
“SungJin, I love you!”
Nako rolled her eyes at the protagonist, whose eyes were brimming with tears as she reached out to her love interest, who looked just as disgusted as Nako. She didn’t know what exactly made her so interested in watching unrealistic drama shows, but she never really stopped despite despising the plot and overdramatic main characters.
She stuffed another spoonful of rice into her mouth as she watched the male lead reject the protagonist, only for her to get hit by a car moments later. Thank God; she thought that whiny girl would never shut up.
“MinJu! No!”
“Oh come on! Now you care about her?! If you’re gonna be the bad boy, at least act like it for two seconds!” Nako complained, chewing angrily on her rice as the male lead clutched the protagonist’s body in his arms. Midnight jumped onto the couch, butting her owner’s arm away before curling onto her lap to take a nap. Nako, taking no notice, reached down to scratch the cat while she continued watching her drama. It was a rare quiet night for the weapons dealer and just tonight, she was just Nako Tsurugi, a young woman living alone in Tokyo.
Nako would get the news that Masuko had collected all the evidence needed to get JoonHwan on death row and would work on sending it all over South Korea in the case he tried to escape Seoul. Soon, every police department in Korea would know his face. He wouldn’t be able to get to her with a target on his back; knowing the gangsters back in Korea, they wouldn’t hesitate to bring him in for the steep cash reward offered for the collection of any state criminal.
“EunJi Kim here, how can I help you?” Nako smiled as she leaned back her chair as she spoke Korean with a man over the phone.
“WooJang Shin. You the broad Boss told us to call?” The man’s thick Busan dialect slurred his words together. “We want info on tha’ son of a bitch JoonHwan Lee. Boss said ya used to know ‘em.”
“A long time ago, I did. What would you like to know? I don’t just provide freebies, so it’s going to cost you. Shouldn’t be a problem with the ten million won ransom on Lee’s head.” She offered, hearing a heaving cough on the other line before the man cleared his throat.
“We got guns from tha’ North. They betta’ than the ones Lee could get his filthy hands on. They straight from the Big Boss.” He said, which immediately made Nako excited. She could make a fortune on those kinds of weapons! The ones Daishou had bought off of JoonHwan were standard issue in the North Korean army, but to get her hands on weapons used by the North Korean president’s top men? They’d be double in value to the units she had received.
“Hmm, that does sound enticing. How many units are we talking?” She asked.
“845. It’ll get sealed up and sent off to ya once I get the info.” He wheezed out another cough before exhaling. Nako could smell the sour stench of the cigarette he was probably smoking through the phone.
“I can meet you at my warehouse in Mapo for a file on Lee. How does a few days from now sound?” She proposed.
“Deal. I betta’ have that file when I leave.” The man ended the short call and Nako immediately started giggling in joy. 845 units of weapons for a lil bit of info on that crazy bastard?! Now that was a steal! She pulled out her phone and dialed her secretary.
“Sakura, book me a flight to Incheon. I’m about to be several hundred million yens richer!” She exclaimed, giggling before hanging up. She really did love it when karma came back to bite in full force.
Sakura pulled her phone away from her ear in confusion when her boss hung up. Well, that was unlike her. The secretary sighed as she looked down at her tablet. Nako still had so many deals that needed to be run in Tokyo and there was no way both she and Nako could leave the country; someone needed to run the numbers and keep everything in order. She wouldn’t dare let Nako leave the country alone with the amount of enemies she had; someone had to accompany her to Korea.
Sakura went through all the contacts that she knew were good options to travel with her boss.
“Masuko? No, she wouldn’t agree to it. She’s stronger on her computer than out in the real world.”
“Yuri?” Sakura then shook her head. “No, she’d never agree to go with Nako when she’s so busy back here.”
Sakura paused on the next contact, thinking long and hard about the man on her screen. He knew Nako fairly well and he’d be up to the job to keep her safe in the case they ran into any danger. She sighed before pulling out her phone.
“D.K.? There’s something I need to ask of you.”
“WHAT?!”
“Nako, please be cooperative. You know I can’t go to Korea with you and you can’t leave the country by yourself. D.K.’s the best option to accompany you to Korea for a few days.” Sakura grimaced as she stood by Kuroo, who had his hands stuffed in his jacket pockets.
“You agreed to this? How free are you?” She clucked, crossing her arms as she reclined back into her chair.
“Sakura said it was important. Besides, it’s not like there’s anyone else who’s willing as I am to make sure you don’t die overseas.” He shrugged, making Nako scoff as she looked away.
“I have your tickets booked for the morning after tomorrow. You’ll both be traveling first class and I’ve made arrangements for you both to stay in the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul. I also had false identities created along with forged passports, identification documents, and driver’s licenses. A rental car has been rented out for your use during the five days you will be traveling abroad. The false identities you’ll be traveling under are Mrs. EunJi Kim and her husband, Mr. Jason Cheng.” Sakura explained, getting shocked expressions from both Kuroo and Nako.
“HUSBAND?!” Nako stared incredulously at her assistant, who pulled out the large brown folder she had been holding and placed it on her boss’s desk. Nako opened it to reveal extremely believable identification documents along with their itinerary, permit papers, and a small ring box. The petite girl opened it to reveal a pair of wedding bands and a large diamond engagement ring. Nako’s engagement ring had a large diamond suspended in the middle while her wedding band was encrusted with even more diamonds. Kuroo’s wedding band was much more simple, being a simple wide gold band that would accommodate his long fingers.
“Sakura-”
“Please work with me, D.K.. This was the only option that was most believable for you two to be traveling together. Since the hotel was overbooked, they had made accommodations for you two to stay in the same suite; you will have separate bedrooms and bathrooms so it isn’t overly invasive to either of your privacies. I’ll have you two discuss the more minute details with each other. I have to go receive more shipments that just came in today from America.” Sakura left the two alone, who only stared at each other, flabbergasted. Nako looked down at the covers Sakura had provided for them; Nako was a rich Korean heiress who had recently married Kuroo, who was an American technology tycoon. The couple would be traveling to South Korea for a few days before returning to their honeymoon in Tokyo.
“Well, I definitely wasn’t expecting that when I agreed to come with you to Korea. I guess I should get used to calling you my wife.” He remarked, giving her an amused smile as he plucked the gold wedding band from the ring box and slipped it onto his left hand. Nako grumbled as she rolled her eyes. Kuroo held out his hand, offering her to take it. Nako begrudgingly took his hand, raising an irritated eyebrow.
“I supposed we missed out on the party. Will you let me put the ring on you at least?”
Nako nodded, making Kuroo smile cheekily as he carefully slipped on the two rings. He loved how they sparkled and shone on her smaller hand. After placing the rings on, he brought her hand to his mouth and kissed the back of it.
“What are you doing?!” She asked, quickly jerking back her hand.
“What? Is it a crime to show my wife affection?” He inquired, making Nako tsk as she looked away.
“Fake wife. Once we leave Seoul, this marriage will cease to exist.” She snapped. Kuroo merely sighed as he walked over to her. Once at her side, he grabbed her chin and moved her face to look at him. Nako was still frowning, a little crinkle between her eyebrows that she always got when annoyed. Flashing her his signature Cheshire grin, he placed the pad of his thumb on her bottom lip.
“Until then, I’m afraid we’re going to have to put up quite the act to convince people we’re married.” He stuck his tongue between his teeth. “Kitten.”
Nako froze at the nickname, already feeling the heat travel to her ears. No one had ever really called her that except Yuri; even then it was always in a teasing manner. To have it roll off the tongue of someone like Kuroo was a different, unexplored level of attraction for her. She quickly shoved him off of her, turning her chair the other way to hide the blush that was migrating to her face.
“Stop that. You’re just being weird now.” She covered her nose and cheeks as Kuroo cackled behind her.
“So you like that, huh? I can see why Mistuma likes calling you that now. You know, I never took you for one that liked pet names. You amaze me everytime, Tsurugi. Ah wait,” He stopped and leaned his head over to the side of the chair. “I suppose now that we’re married, we can start referring to each other on a first name basis. I can call you Nako now, right?”
“You can do whatever you want. Just get out of my face so we can head out to Shibuya and Shinjuku. I won’t be having you dressed in a grubby t-shirt and jeans if you’re going to go around parading as my husband.” She quickly stood up and grabbed her purse, trying to walk as fast as she could to hide her red face.
“So you are starting to buy into the whole husband thing.” He laughed as Nako stared daggers at him, her cheeks tinted just the right amount of pink.
“Shut up and get into the damn car.” She said shortly, unlocking her SLR and pointed at the passenger’s side. Kuroo smiled at her annoyed expression as he opened the door and swung into the car. He hadn’t missed the insult she muttered as she sat down in the driver’s seat.
“Damn fucking Rooster Head piece of shit…”
Kuroo bit his bottom lip as he smiled.
“Have I ever told you that I am always so impressed at how creatively crass you are when you cuss me out?” He asked, making Nako roll her eyes as she started up her car. The engine growled to life as all the technological components of the Mercedes lit up.
“Big words for a man who always ends up in second place behind Cypher. Please, I live to impress you.” Her words dripped of sarcasm as she drove out of the warehouse. Kuroo grimaced at the mention of the brunette racer.
“Do you just find joy in messing with people?”
“Oh darling, it’s practically in my nature now. I can’t help but go about ruining people’s days; there’s just some wonderful joy in seeing their smiles drop.” Nako giggled, carrying a smile that could only describe as being that of one who was planning devious things.
“Darling? Well, I was hoping we could start with you just calling me Tetsurou. However, if you’re ready for that stage in our marriage, I won’t stop you.” Kuroo teased, which made Nako hit the brakes abruptly and caused the man to lurch forward with a tightened seatbelt against his chest.
“Oops, thought I saw a duck crossing the road. My bad.”
Kuroo chuckled lowly at the insincere apology she offered, tugging at the seatbelt before sitting straight up again.
“Nice little trick. You got any other childish moves you wanna pull on me?” He crooned, getting a cute little smirk out of her as she switched lanes.
“I don’t have the slightest clue what you’re talking about. Why would I go out of my way to do that?” She replied, glancing briefly over at him before returning her eyes to the road. “Besides, you know you love me.”

Chapters 1-2
------
In comparison to Jagged, who was coming up with more and more ridiculous ideas—getting a pet crocodile, for instance, which made it seem he wanted Adrien to be a mini-him—Marinette was positively sedate when Adrien came back into the lounge. She was seated primly with a notebook she’d found somewhere.
She looked up at him, quirking a smile. “We need to be serious about this if we’re going to win.”
Jagged let out an exaggerated sigh. “Ugh, being serious is so not rock n’ roll.”
Adrien blinked. “Win?”
“Beat your dad at his own game. Manipulating public perception.” Marinette gestured to the notebook, which had a list. “We have fifteen hours before the announcement hits the news, about, if it’s meant to be released at nine tomorrow morning. That gives us some time. Not much, but some.”
He sat down, browsing the list.
Non-Lila fake relationship (call Nadja Chamack)
Not skunk hair – black w/ green tips?
Expose Lila – make her inconvenient (no more photoshoots)
Jagged read out loud over his shoulder, adding commentary like, “Wait, you know Nadja Chamack, too?” and “Yeah, I guess that’d look better” and “I’m in!” The last one regarding Lila.
“I texted Penny to come back so we can make the plans more cohesive before moving to clothes,” Marinette said as he handed back the notebook.
“Should I tell the hotel to hold off on the hair, too?” Jagged asked. At Marinette’s nod, he moved across the room to the phone.
Adrien was stunned that she had, in the course of one conversation he’d had in the bathroom with Plagg, come up with something that would look less haphazard.
“But who would I have a fake relationship with?”
The idea made him uneasy. It felt a lot like what his dad was doing.”
She bit her lip. “Um, not me. But someone who knows Lila is toxic and is willing to help us. The only reason for it is to make it look like your dad is trying to break you and this person up, or is embarrassed or something.”
Adrien winced. “I mean, I don’t want to use someone like that. It’d be easiest to choose a guy, since Father wouldn’t dare upset the LGBTQ+ community with him being in the fashion industry, but it’d be a little disrespectful to the community, wouldn’t it?”
Marinette was quiet for a bit. “I… I don’t know. I’m, um… I identify as bi, but… Maybe if you basically said it was a relationship to explore your sexuality? Like with someone who’s also a friend?”
“But… I don’t think I know anyone who’d be willing to do that.
Realistically, everyone in their class was under Lila’s thumb. Another celebrity would make it weird. Other models might be concerned about a future modeling for Gabriel.
Jagged butted in. “Weren’t you jamming with Anarka’s boy that one time?”
Adrien blinked. “Luka?”
“He might be willing to help—and you could promote Kitty Section, too. Make that part of your outfit.” For some reason, Marinette’s cheeks had turned pink. “Um, is it okay if I text him and get him to come?”
Honestly, Adrien had been a bit jealous of Luka when he’d wielded the Snake so well after Adrien’s failure—but Plagg had pointed out that it just meant he was a better Black Cat. And he was fond of the older boy, who had welcomed him into the band even though his father wouldn’t let him play often.
“I think… yeah. Let’s talk to him. Hopefully he’s not fooled by Lila’s act.”
“He’s not,” Marinette said darkly. “I, uh, told him after she got me expelled and almost Akumatized.”
“No!” Jagged jumped up. “I can’t believe she hurt you so bad! Oh, she’s got to go down!”
Penny just so happened to walk in at that moment. “Who?”
“That Lila girl almost got our talented, wonderful Marinette Akumatized, Penny! We can’t have that.” Jagged sprawled against his part of the circular sofa dramatically. “She’s, like, my muse!”
Marinette turned beet red. “I-I’ll just text Luka and ask him to come here.”
She pulled her phone way closer to her face than was necessary. Adrien thought it was cute that she got flustered whenever someone reminded her of her accomplishments—she was so modest, unlike Lila.
Penny, for her part, rolled her eyes at the dramatics, but smiled. “Adrien, can you run through a list of her lies? I might be able to get more people on board, since she seems to like to steal fame.”
Adrien nodded, listing staying with Prince Ali of Achu, being best friends with Ladybug, Jagged Stone’s kitten and song for her, and knowing Steven Besielberg and other Hollywood directors.
“She even told our friend Nino she would introduce him to Steven Besielberg, and he wants to be a filmmaker,” he finished. “And those are just the ones I’ve heard—she probably has more.”
Jagged broke in. “I wrote one for Ladybug after she saved me, and Mariette inspired a song, but I’d never write her a song, even as a take-down. She doesn’t deserve it.”
Penny was writing on her pad. “I can get in touch with Steven Besielberg, at least. That should be interesting.”
“Luka’s on his way,” Marinette broke in. “And, uh, I just realized my idea for your hair would match his… So maybe that was a sign?”
Adrien smiled. “At least that I should also spend time playing with Kitty Section again.”
Penny cleared her throat. “Adrien, do you have control of your official social media?”
He rubbed the back of his head. “Kind of? My father has the password for both my email and my social media accounts.”
She nodded, and gestured to a laptop on a nearby desk. “Change them while we wait for M. Couffaine. I’ll help you make sure he can’t regain control.”
By the time they finished, Luka had arrived. Adrien and Marinette worked to explain the situation to him; the blond could tell by the look on his face, as though he’d just smelled something nasty, that Luka knew of and wasn’t fond of Lila.
He hadn’t even gotten to asking him, when the older boy abruptly nodded. “A fake relationship. Something your father can’t protest without looking bad. I’ll do it, so long as we take down Lila, too.”
Adrien grinned. “Already in the works.”
Marinette, though, looked worried. “Has she done something?”
Luka scowled. “She’s been trying to make things weird between Juleka and Rose lately. It’s bad enough she hurt Marinette, but she’s not hurting my sister.”
Adrien traded serious glances with Marinette. This was bigger, more important, than just avoiding a fake relationship with Lila now. If the liar had proved anything with her plot to get Marinette expelled, it was that she didn’t care who she hurt, what relationships she destroyed.
It was time to take her down.

Kagami in Octodad
Just some detail changes to Kagami's character and such for Octodad.
Miscellaneous Details
She's taller here, being two inches taller than Adrien and Lucifer at the beginning of the series, and will continue to be the tallest out all the Miraculous kids.
At the beginning of the series, she still wears red, but she slowly starts to wear more black and yellow later.
Kagami knows how to speak near perfect French thanks to Asuna, but has a tendency to speak in Japanese if startled or flustered. It also takes her a bit to get that she doesn't need to do honorifics all the time.
Relationships
Asuna is her older sister, but she sees her more like a close cousin given that Asuna has lived in Paris all of Kagami's life with only monthly visits to Japan to see her.
Tomoe Tsurugi is her mother. Relationship is the same as in canon.
Lucifer is her brother-in-law, and she likes him enough, but she doesn't see him as much as he's busier with teaching so he didn't get to visit her in Japan as much as Asuna did. At the beginning of the series, she sees his kind and caring nature as weakness.
She and Alya butt head almost constantly due their personalities and what they think is best for Marinette conflicting, and Alya doesn't like how Adrien is interested in Kagami.
Marinette draws Kagami's attention by showing that while she is kind, she still won't let people treat her wrongly (doesn't hurt that Kagami thinks Marinette is hot cute when she's furious with someone).
While Kagami eventually sees that not all kindness is weakness thanks to Marinette and Lucifer, she still sees that weakness in Adrien, causing her to see him as nothing more than an obstacle to Marinette's affection for quite some time.
Kagami fall for Chat when she sees the same traits that had her fall for Marinette, that being that while he's kind, he doesn't let it affect his ability to fight akumas. It takes Kagami longer to realise this is a crush than it took her to realise she likes Marinette.
She respects Ladybug, but thinks that her plans are unnecessarily complicated, and she thinks that Mollusk and Chat Noir are the more capable fighters.
Mollusk frustrates her with his constant "you shouldn't be here", seeing it as a personal slight to her abilities to fight. She also sees his attitude about children and how they shouldn't have to fight supervillains as a sign that he thinks adults should handle everything just because they're older.
Pollen gets on her nerves since Pollen is all about helping and supporting others, while Kagami has been taught that the only way to succeed in life is to do so on her own.
Story beats
She enters the story early season 1 rather than 2.
Early season 3, Fu chooses her to be the Bee, with the one thing stopping her from being a full-time hero like Ladybug Chat Noir and Mollusk is Lucifer insisting that they don't need a third child risking themselves.
Kagami's hero name is Mitsubachi
At the beginning of season 4 she joins the team permanently after [Spoilers!] at the finale of season 3.
She learns that it's okay to let others support her, and how to support others.
Rivals
Luka singles himself out to her the moment the two meet as a rival for Marinette that, unlike Adrien, is interested in Marinette and, unlike Kagami, seems to also be liked in the same way by Marinette.
But beyond that, Luka also rubs Kagami the wrong way. This is only cemented when she notices that Luka seems be trying to drive her away from Marinette, and Marinette from her and Adrien. (I did say Luka was going to be a full on antagonist in this)

Diablesse Pt. 3
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Bonus
Read it all on AO3
People who’ve asked to be tagged: @gearstorm @a-sweet-little-fangirl @agent-wash1ngtub @protecthefuckingbees @i-only-signed-up-for-fanfiction
So this part is less action and more gay? I couldn’t help myself, but to be fair it’s not a lot. Just two girls bonding over their contempt for a third girl while climbing a filthy fire escape, how romantic <3 I mean... Gotta find those heroes somehow, right?
I broke part 3 into 2 parts, so I’ll probably post Part 4 tomorrow morning, depending on how well this part is received. Again, thank you all so much for the kind words, and I hope you enjoy!!!
Chloè would say that it smelled like teenage angst, but she has a feeling that not only has that joke already been made, but that whoever did make it didn’t deserve the satisfaction. Whatever.
“Not that I doubt that you’re honestly trying to prove your worth as a hero,” Kagami started, the two girls scanning the rooftops of Paris in search of either Ladybug (Kagami) or Chat Noir (Chloè), “but why go through all of this for Marinette?”
Chloè snapped Marinette’s bag shut. “Don’t get it twisted, Tsurugi. I still very much dislike Marinette. She’s extremely annoying and a tad bit overrated if you ask me,” Her scowl fell slightly, changing into something less... unfriendly, “but she’s helped me out in a pinch or two,” or eighty given that she was LADYBUG, “She saw something in me that not even my own parents saw, and she deserves to have someone be on her side right now, even if my version of helping is to rip that butterfly out of her tail.
“Plus: The enemy of my enemy is my... ally.” She said. Chloè and Marinette had few things in common (apparently more than she thought), and hating Rossi seemed to be the current thing at the top of that list.
Needing something to distract her from her own thoughts and feelings, she changed the subject. “But enough about that, what’s going on with you and Adrikins, hm? Is that something I should be worried about?” She didn’t think about how Adrien is in love with Ladybug who is Marinette who is in love with Adrien. She swears.
“We’re...” Kagami searched for the word, “friends. I think. I don’t really have too many, and I was pretty sure we went on what’s technically a date, but we’re friends.” Kagami steeled her face. “Besides, he has a thing for someone else, didn’t you know?” Did Chloè not know that Adrien had a crush on Marinette? Kagami had the feeling that if the blonde did know, she wouldn’t be so pressed to help.
Chloè scoffed, “Of course I knew, but come on, who doesn’t? She’s amazing. Everyone in the class has a thing for her.” She was getting whiplash from switching from Mari to Ladybug. “But it’s dangerous for them to be together, so I don’t know what’s going to happen with that.”
Poor Adrikins... He probably wished he had a miraculous so he could date Ladybug. Chloè figured that if he had one, he’d have to fight Chat Noir for her though. That’d be fun to watch, a ball of blonde hair and...
Blonde hair and green eyes...
There’s no way. There’s no way in hell that Adrien was-
“No!”
Kagami grabbed Chloè and ducked down behind a car as the both looked towards the source of the scream.
In the middle of the street, Alya was covering her ears, Demonettes flying all around her, whispering something the two girls couldn’t hear.
“It wasn’t like that!” The Ladyblogger shouted, swatting at the air, “No! I didn’t mean to!”
Chloè and Kagami locked eyes, exchanging a ‘WTF’ before Alya shouted again.
“I’m Sorry!” was the last thing Alya said before the Demonettes surrounded her entirely.
When she was visible again, Alya was now just as red as Little Devil. Her clothes had turned all black, as did the tips of her now clawed fingers. Her eyes were yellow as well, but she no longer had any pupils. Just two glowing yellow spots behind her glasses. Her horns, unlike Little Devil, were red.
Tears streamed down her face as she was overcome with grief and anger.
Chloè pulled Kagami into an alley before Alya could see them. “We need to get on the roof.” She did not want to use the dirty fire escape ladder, but she had no choice. She should’ve just went to New York. There are no akumas in New York, she’d never be forced to use her bare hands to climb such filth. “We heroes often travel by rooftop, so finding one of them will be easier up there, plus,” she looked behind them as more civilians, now demonized, began to cause havoc in their anger. “They probably won’t spare us like Little Devil did.”
Chloè gestured to the ladder, obviously wanting Kagami to go first. “As the only hero here, I need to make sure you go first.” Also there was no way she was getting her hands dirty if Tsurugi wasn’t.
“You keep using the word ‘hero,’ but you aren’t Queen Bee right now, are you?” Kagami knew Chloè was full of shit, but she still went and started to climb first.
“We don’t have time for semantics.”
“Wow, she knows what semantics means.” Ignoring Chloè’s indignant huff below her, she recalled their earlier conversation. “Also, what did you mean by what you said earlier? How special is Marinette that she can’t date Adrien?”
Chloè’s hand almost slipped off of the bar. Did Kagami know that Marinette was Ladybug? She couldn’t, or else she wouldn’t be asking about why Ladybug can’t date civilians. Unless she also knew that Chat Noir was-
No, that’s not a fact. Chat Noir was not Adrien, period. Which meant, “Wait, you think Adrien has a crush on Marinette?” Technically she was right, but? No!
Kagami paused for one second before continuing up. “Yes.” She spoke slowly, choosing her words. “Does he not? He was asking me for advice about what to do because she didn’t like him back, so I told him to change his target. I had hoped he had understood what I meant because he gave me a rose and asked me to go ice skating with him, but I was wrong because he invited her too.” She scowled. “She even had the nerve to invite another guy. She’s just playing with his affections.”
Chloè couldn’t help herself. This was too funny. Superheroes aside, this was hilarious. “I’m sorry, I promise I’m not laughing at you. If I was in your shoes, I’d have been pissed too, but I promise you that you got things backwards. Adrien does not have a crush on her.”
“I’m pretty sure he does. You just said it was obvious and that your entire class did? Who else would you be talking about?”
Technically, Marinette. “I was referring to Ladybug? Adrien has been obsessed with her since she first showed up. As for Marinette? I don’t know who that other guy was, but she’s the one who has a thing for Adrien. Since the day they met.” They were almost at the top, thank heavens. She wanted to see Kagami’s face right now, rather than her ass. “That’s something apparently all three of us have in common...”
Kagami blushed, glad that no one could see her do it. “Well, what about Lila? Doesn’t she like Adrien as well?”
“Listen, if you want me to keep the bitch turned off, I’m gonna need you to promise to never mention her again. I’m the Mayor’s daughter, and you come from old money. It would be bad for us, politically, for me to hate you over something this small.”
“Oh? You don’t already hate me for being close to Adrien?” Kagami smiled. “Besides, Rossi could also be a good ally, I mean... She does know the Prince.”
Chloè groaned. “You’re horrible. Utterly ridiculous.” Kagami laughed, making the blonde blush. She cleared her throat and look down at her hands.
Kagami hoisted herself up on to the roof. “Either way, I believe Marinette deserves an apology. I was incredibly rude to her because of all of this.”
“You were rude to her only because of how you thought she was playing with Adrien’s emotions?” Kagami turned and offered her a hand, nodding. “That’s,” Hot. Woah, what? “That’s pretty impressive.” She let Kagami pull her up.
“Also, bold of you to believe that you’re close enough to him for me to be worried. If anything, him spending time with you mean less time for him to spend with Dupain-Cheng. Time with me would be optimal, but you guys try to stab each other for fun. I think I can yield this once.”
“If he doesn’t have a crush on her, then there should be no reason for them to not spend time together.”
“Marinette is... special.” Chloè hated saying this, but Kagami had no one to tell, except Adrien but... anyways. “Everyone loves her. From randos to celebrities. Adrien’s father and my mother think she’s super talented, and she has Jagged Stone on speed dial!” Her tone grew somber. “There’s just something about her that makes everyone fall in love which means that us heroes are going to have trouble fighting her.”
“What do you mean?” Kagami had thought Chloè was a little jealous, but her last sentence made her rethink that. “No matter how important the civilian, Ladybug and Chat Noir have to defeat the akuma. I’ve no doubt that they’ve had to deal with personal friends being akumatized.”
“Again, I don’t know why, and I wish you’d stop making me say this, but she’s different. Marinette’s the only civilian to help us with an akuma. She might not know their identity, but she knows us in a way that no one else can claim.” She sighed. “This is going to be a hard fight for us.” Her and Chat Noir were screwed.
“Yeah, that’s true, but it’s nothing that we can’t handle, right?”
Both girls turned to find Chat Noir squatting on the edge of the roof, watching them.

INAZUMA DOUJINSHI LIST
So the 3 giveway winners can choose their top 10 (though I may only send 6, depending on what’s chosen). Note: Any doujin with *** means I’m unfortunately not willing to part with the real thing, but I’ll send you a scanned version. I’ll send translations along with each one. If a doujin on this list has no summary, it means I haven’t read it yet – but I can give you a summary if you’re interested.
Doujins can get pretty crazy…
1 I Will Only Love You – Tenma x Kyousuke – 3 short stories about KyouTen: Tenma wants to touch Tsurugi and cuddle and is upset when Tsurugi won’t
2 I Kinda Went Pretty Far – Chrono Stone: It’s like the characters are commenting on the Chrono Stone games. Kariya wonders about a mixi max, Taiyou strikes a cute cat pose, Shuu adds pictures to his uniform collection, and Kirino wants to move to the dinosaur era to live with his cute Shindou…
3 My Kouhai is So Cute It’s Dangerous – Yukimura x Adult! Fubuki: Fubuki asks Yukimura to wear girl’s underwear R18 shotacon (Note: very cute artwork but you feel pretty perverted reading it…)
4 Teach Me a Rich Life – Kariya & Kirino & Shindou – When Shindou invites Kirino over to his house, Kariya wants to tag along. Shindou and Kirino treat Kariya to how the rich live
5 SEED and the Beast – Teikoku and Hakuren (GO): Yukimura is a tsundere with his Captain, and at Teikoku Kidou orders Miyabino to speak and act more respectfully around Captain Mikado, to the small first year’s annoyance
6 Crossdressing Boy – Sakuma x Genda: I don’t know the actual name, but I really like this one. I recommend it to any GenSaku fan. Sakuma and Genda are dormmates at Teikoku, and after Kidou left Sakuma becomes very touchy-feely to Genda. It’s cute seeing Sakuma the one all over Genda, when it’s normally the other way around. Also involves Sakuma masturbating to a sleeping Genda while cross-dressing. That part was less cute unless you’re into that R18
7 Unknown Title – Kurama & Hayami & Hamano: Three of them reminisce about the first time they went on their first errand when they were 5 years old. Pretty cute. There’s a funny scene at the end
8 Play time is over! - Kurama & Hayami & Hamano: Really long doujin about the second-year trio. Tsurugi and Kirino also make an appearance. There’s a lot of pages, so if you like long doujins this is good
***9 With A Kind Person – Kitten! Tenma & Shindou, Tsurugi: How Tsurugi reacts after Tenma and Shindou are turned into kittens. Tsurugi tries to forgive himself for how he acted as a Seed
10 Raimon Chit Chat – Raimon (GO): Sakuma and Miyabino visit to give Raimon special training, then treat them and Kidou to ramen afterwards. Tenma messes around with Tsurugi
11 School Life with You – Girl! Kurama x Hamano: In Story 1 Hamano keeps bugging Kurama by sending badly-drawn pics, and in Story 2 Kurama receives a love letter which makes Hayami and Hamano curious
12 Gears of Love – Adult! Genda & Sakuma, Kirino x Shindou: Kirino’s too shy to confess to Shindou, but with some advice from short-haired Sakuma he makes his choice
13 Best Lovers – Genda x Sakuma: Cute doujin about GenSaku’s cute relationship. Very, very cute. Sakuma’s casual clothes are cool… R18
14 Your Father’s in the Way – Asurei & Fei & Saru: Pretty much what the title says. Saru’s trying to hang out with Fei, but Fei is conscious of his father. The art style is very similar to the show and the reason I bought it is because the artist is that Pixiv artist who draws all those show-style Inazuma pictures, Mizauhara Aki. Fei is extremely adorable here
15 Sweet Dancing – Crossdressing! Kirino x Sangoku: Sangoku asks his boyfriend Kirino to crossdress R18 (Note: Very pretty art. I think even if you don’t like the pairing you can appreciate how pretty Kirino looks here…)
16 We Love Coach Endou! – Raimon (GO): How the Raimon team react after Endou joins… Endou’s past has been a teensy bit exaggerated. In any case, all of them want attention from Coach Endou. Endou used to help Kazemaru tie back his hair?
17 You and Me etc: Kirino is embarrassed that he’s so turned on by touching his own nipples, which he shyly confesses to Shindou. Then he, Shindou and Tenma masturbate to each other R18 (Note: main pairing is Shindou x Tenma, with Kirino masturbating)
18 Terminus – Aphrodi: Aphrodi is forcing himself on Endou for some reason R18
19 You can Drink when you’re 20 – Aphrodi & Burn & Gazel: Aphrodi (who for some reason dresses like a girl on days off) asks Gazel and Burn to have snacks with him. This one is too unbearably cute for words. Aphrodi and Gazel are so cute I can’t. Aphrodi is the best part about this one so I recommend it to people who like seeing Aphrodi being a cute tease (and wearing girly clothes)
20 Dear My Hero – Minamisawa & Kurama: The reason Kurama joined Raimon is because he looked up to his idol Minamisawa… MinaKura
21 The War on Saturday – Kishibe & Sousuke
***22 Let’s go to the Aquarium on Sunday – Kirino & Kariya & Shindou: Shindou and Kirino invite a reluctant Kariya to the aquarium. Kariya tries to act up, but two continue to act parent-like
23 A Real Place – Tenma & Taiyou: Tenma visits Taiyou in hospital and brings cake. So unbearable cute it could give you diabetes. Taiyou stop being so cute
24 6 Minutes – Minamisawa & Kurama: Collection of MinaKura stories. The layout of this doujin alone is so incredibly pretty. It has the prettiest cover design I’ve ever seen. If you don’t own many doujins, it’s almost worth to look at this just for the cover and inside pages
25 Hurry Back Home – Minamisawa & Kurama: Kurama confronts Minamisawa after the match against Gassan Kunimistsu. Kurama misses him… MinaKura
26 Flowers and Everyone – Minamisawa & Kurama
27 I’ll Probably Drive – Kishibe x Sousuke
28 Let’s Play Dirty – Kirino & Shindou: Oh God. This one’s kinky. I’d rather give it away to the first person who wants it. Please someone take it away from me. But I should warn you, it’s hella kinky. That’s all I can say… R18
29 ***My senpai lives in Yamagata so I’m going to meet him on the overnight Bus – Kurama & Minamisawa: THIS ONE IS SO CUTE! Minamisawa asks Kurama to come visit him in Yamagata, so Kurama has to take the overnight bus there. It reminds me of very ‘typical’ Japanese life – conbini, pazu no pan, the overnight bus…
30 The Weather is Good Today – Fei Rune
31 24 Hours, 24 People – Coach Kudou & shotas (Original and GO): Collection of sketches featuring Raimon and coach Kudou in cute situations SFW
32 Clumsy – Kishibe & Sousuke
33 Why are you doing this to me? – Kurama & Kirino: Kurama is sick so Kirino is sent over to ‘take care of him’ R18 (note: art style is pretty crazy)
34 1117 – Kurama x Kurama: The dark voice inside his head keeps telling Kurama how useless he is while he masturbates R18 (note: same author as Why are you doing this to me?)
35 From Tomorrow Let’s Make a Bright Soccer Project – Coach Endou & Raimon
36 I Guess Sometimes I’ll Believe What You Say – Kirino x Kariya & Adult! Kariya: A senior high school Kariya pays a visit to his little senpai, Kirino, much to Middleschool Kariya’s annoyance
37 Loving You – Kurama & Minamisawa
38 Lovers in a Bathtub – Kurama & Minamisawa: They get caught in a storm on the way home from school with no umbrella, so Minamisawa invites Kurama back to his house for a bath
39 Make Believe – Mikado & Ryuuzaki (Teikoku GO) Ryuuzaki seems to be given a hard time by the rest of Teikoku, and Mikado comforts him. Ryuuzaki is gorgeous here
40 What if Minamisawa Senpai was a Girl? – Girl! Minamisawa & Kurama & Sangoku & Hyoudou: How Hyoudou feels about girl! Minamisawa’s transfer
***41 Playing With Fire – Girl! Kurama & Tsurugi: Tsurugi and girl! Kurama get caught in a rain shower and are forced to take shelter together. Girl! Kurama has big boobs and is the most cute thing
42 Prison Break Counter Attack Raimei – Chrono Stone: For some reason Protocal Omega and Raimon have lunch together with the Chinese dragon lady from Chrono Stone. Protocal Omega wear strange outfits, and Kirino wears a Chinese dress…
43 Cat Fight – Kirino & Shindou: Kirino and Shindou get into a fight and it’s up to Kurama, Hayami and Hamano to get them talking again
44 New Students of Shin Arakumo Gakuen – Taiyou & Kariya & Hakuryuu & Tsurugi: Kariya and Tsurugi are transferred to Arakumo Gakuen, a school for rich kids. Luckily, they have Student President Hakuryuu and School Idol Taiyou to guide them around
45 PPC - Crossdressing Chrono Stone: A long time ago there was a country that loved soccer, ruled by King Endou and Prince Tenma. There will be a party that involves cross-dressing. Come on, you know you wanna see Gouenji and Fubuki and Hiroto in a dress. You know you wanna. Most of the GO kids crossdress too. Also Shuu and Taiyou.
46 First Love Prelude – Kirino & Shindou: Collection of short comics about these two; like attending one of Shindou’s piano recitals, and attending a festival (Note: Would recommend to RanTaku fans, and the doujin itself is very pretty)
47 Wedding! – Kirino & Shindou: For Kirino’s birthday present, he asks Shindou to pretend they’re married. Artist of Himegoto.
48 Family! – Adult! Kirino x Shindou, Child! Kariya & Tsurugi: Dad! Shindou and Mom! Kirino and their two kids, Kariya and Tsurugi and their daily life. Kindergarden teachers Hakuryuu and Shuu guest star
49 Let’s Kiss? – Kirino x Shindou: Kirino just wants Shindou to kiss him already. Artist of Himegoto.
50 Darling So Cool – Ultimate Bonds Gryphon Movie: This is the craziest doujin I’ve ever seen. Kirino wants to eat a goat, everyone freaks out, Endou thinks soccer balls will make a good soup and Shuu makes t-shirts for him and Hakuryuu. Shuu also tries to eat Amagi, and there’s some TakuRan I think??? Tbh I didn’t even read this one, I just looked at the pictures. It looks crazy
51 Trio Role – Shindou & Isozaki & Kita: Shindou says he’ll do anything out of gratitude for the other two, so Isozaki asks him to suck his dick. Kita joins in R18
***52 Taisho Era Childhood Friends – Kirino & Shindou Artist of Himegoto.
52 Stop Lovers – Kurama & Minamisawa: This doujin is very, very long ‘cause it’s a collection of stories.
53 Lunch by the Lake – Shinsei Inazuma Japan: How Hiroto organised the match in the DanSen movie, Shinsei Inazuma Japan kids being cute (especially Kariya, Hakuryuu and Taiyou)
54 The Idol Inazumaster: Fubuki and some other guy (I have no idea… An OC? A character from the original series I don’t know? ) have a bunch of dolls of all the Inazuma characters. Kirino, Shindou and Burn are also involved… A lot of characters are involved. It’s VERY VERY cute
55 Seishun – Raimon (GO): Collection of funny scenes about the Raimon team. Art style is very similar to the show
56 Welcome Home! – Raimon First Years (GO): Shindou’s about to be discharged from the hospital, so the first years get together to plan something to welcome him back. There’s a pretty funny scene at the end you won’t see coming. Let’s just say Aoi slaps all of the first years, including Tsurugi
57 Our Declaration of Coach Endou – Raimon (GO)
58 Kurama’s Diet Plan for Minamisawa – Minamisawa’s gotten chubby while studying for exams, so it’s up to Kurama to put him on a strict diet (Note: I was hoping Minamisawa-san gained a lot of weight, but it’s not noticeable at all TWT pretty funny all the same)

60 Inazuma x Pokemon – Original Cast: Endou sets off on his journey of becoming a Pokemon master with his Bulbasaur (Hiroto), Charmander (Burn) and Squirtle (Gazelle). This doujin is MASSIVE

Chapters 1-2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4
------------
Luka and Adrien’s eyes met after the girls left, and they couldn’t keep from giggling themselves stupid for a bit.
“Thanks for doing this, Luka,” Adrien said when he eventually caught his breath again. “I mean, I know it puts you out a bit.”
That received a shrug. “I really don’t mind. The liar has to be stopped, and if it keeps her from hurting you more, all the better.” He sighed softly. “I wish I’d been able to protect Marinette from her.”
Adrien nodded. “I didn’t expect Lila to get her expelled.”
“She threatened Marinette, as well, don’t forget.”
“What?” His voice sounded hollow to his own ears, and he propped himself up on his elbows. “She what?”
Luka’s eyes widened a bit. “Marinette didn’t tell you?”
“No.”
Adrien thought back on Marinette’s behavior, how she’d started to shrink into herself since Lila had returned to class. She always seemed on edge, jumpy anymore—even before the near-expulsion. If she’d been threatened, no wonder…
“When?” he asked after a moment, letting his head fall back on the sofa cushion.
“She said something about a blinding napkin? I didn’t really understand the context, but…”
He winced. So it had been before he’d given her his stupid advice. He was such an idiot.
“I told her Lila wasn’t hurting anyone.”
Luka gently pushed Adrien’s legs off his lap, then pulled him into a sitting position against his side. “Hey,” he murmured. “You didn’t know. She didn’t tell you. You gave her the best advice you could with the information you had.”
“I still should have… done something. Marinette deserves that much.”
“She isn’t one to demand that sort of thing.” Luka patted his shoulder. “Especially since Lila makes you uncomfortable, and she’s not blind to that.”
Adrien grimaced. “She keeps… touching me. Like she owns me. It’s creepy and invasive and I don’t like it.”
The hand moved away from him then back, like Luka wasn’t sure if this qualified.
“Not you, or Mari, or Kagami. I’m even okay with Chloé. But not her,” he clarified, leaning his head against Luka’s shoulder.
Luka’s hand settled back on Adrien’s shoulder. “Good. The goal is to make you comfortable, not make it worse.”
This was of course the moment Jagged Stone chose to walk back in. “Aw, aren’t you two cute? Time to call the salon, then, get done before the girls get back, yeah? You have a date with dye!”
Luka and Adrien met each other’s gaze and started giggling again.
--
Kagami watched Marinette fidget, a habit she knew from prior interactions was an indication of the girl’s nerves. She often couldn’t help but be impressed by her friend, and this was no different. Clearly Marinette had taken charge to come up with a plan to help Adrien—and had not taken advantage of the situation to become his fake girlfriend.
Which, actually, if Kagami considered, made sense—she would not wish to do that, either. It would be more painful than anything. Marinette had approached the situation wisely.
She was further surprised that they had decided upon Luka as the faux boyfriend, as he seemed to be courting Marinette.
But she had put Adrien above herself, as a true friend would. Truly, Kagami had learned much from her about friendship in their short acquaintance, and she was certain she’d learn more as time went on.
The limo pulled up outside a store that had outfits that looked far more intense than Kagami usually considered viable for her clothing, but in the case of Adrien’s rebellion would likely serve perfectly. She slid out and offered Marinette a hand getting out.
“You’re very kind to help Adrien through this situation,” she noted, hoping to put her at ease. “And I thank you for thinking to include me. I haven’t ever had fun like this.”
The smile she received was almost blinding, and Marinette’s nervousness seemed to dissipate. “I’m glad you’re here, Kagami. It’s always more fun to do a makeover with friends.”
Penny entered the store ahead of them, and Kagami followed with Marinette in tow.
“To be honest, I am not good with choosing clothing,” Kagami admitted. “As a result I often simply wear my school uniform.”
That earned another brilliant smile. “I’d be happy to go shopping with you sometime. Or, I make a lot of my own clothing, and it’d be fun to design something for you.”
Kagami offered a smile in return. “I would be honored to model your designs, Marinette. In the meantime, I look forward to learning as you pick out Adrien’s new look.”
Marinette flitted around the store, choosing several pairs of black jeans, some pre-worn with holes, others with strategic rips or even chains. As the shirt was already taken care of, she looked at different jacket options, eventually choosing one which zipped at a slight diagonal and had a larger silver zipper and fittings. She also selected a black zip-up hoodie with green trim, similar to Luka’s.
Eventually, she made her way to the footwear, seeming torn between a couple of options. Marinette turned to her, holding up two styles. Both were black leather boots that would reach about halfway up Adrien’s calf; the first laced and also had five rather large buckles, and the second not only laced and had three buckles, but were further accented by chains above and below the buckles held in place by fixtures shaped like silver-colored brass knuckles.
“Which do you think, Kagami?”
She was glad Marinette was including her in the process. “Aesthetically, they both seem to have the desired rebellious tone. However, the ones with chains seem a bit impractical, and perhaps too much.”
Marinette nodded, setting aside the pair Kagami had rejected—her opinion, as inexpert as it was, had been valued.
They ended the trip near the jewelry, looking at the various options. A jade-green beaded bracelet caught Kagami’s eye, and when she pointed it out to Marinette it was added to the pile. Marinette found a leather bracelet with a Jagged Stone logo which was also added to the pile.
At the earrings, Marinette paused.
“I know he has pierced ears, since he modeled some of my earrings, but he doesn’t normally wear any…”
Kagami nodded. “Is that not reason for him to do so now?”
“Good point!” Marinette graced her with another smile. “I’m so glad you came with.”
They worked together, and Marinette laughed, her voice ringing out like bells, when she found a pair of black studs with a neon green Chat Noir paw on them. Kagami didn’t quite understand the joke.
“He originally was going to choose Chat Noir’s colors,” she explained. “I guess Chat represents rebellion to him.”
“Ah, so then these are perfect—they allow him to stick with his initial idea a bit.”
Penny was waiting for them, chatting with the clerk, and pulled out Jagged Stone’s credit card without even looking at the price.
“Didn’t take you two long,” she commented as their items were being packaged. “I doubt they’ve finished the dye job yet.”
“Marinette had a vision,” Kagami responded. “She is quite efficient.”
She blushed at the compliment and grabbed two of the bags. Kagami grabbed the third, and they left the store, ready to return to the hotel for the rest of the plan.

Love Language: Chapter 1
--------
Kagami had asked Marinette and her parents to come to the airport to greet them on their return. The intention was a dinner at the Tsurugi home, with Marinette spending the night afterward.
Really, she hoped to have a late gift exchange. The hitch was that Kagami’s gift to Marinette… was an engagement ring. In truth, she wished to propose to her upon their reunion at the airport.
She had agonized for weeks over design possibilities, quite aware Marinette’s skill in that area and anxious of failure. She had carefully selected the engagement ring and wedding band, custom ordering it from a Japanese jeweler, Mokumeganeya, and choosing the same style for herself with different accompanying stones.
Tumblr media
The diamond cut was special, the Sakura cut, symbolizing the cherry blossom—her desire to spend the rest of their beautiful, fleeting lives together. Her own engagement ring had rubies on either side of the diamond. Marinette’s had pink tourmaline. The wedding bands were tsunagaru-katachi, one connected wide ring cut from the same billet of Mokumegane to be pulled apart at the ceremony, each with three stones: tourmaline on one side, ruby on the other, with the purity of a diamond in between to represent the pure bliss of their union.
The union she hoped Marinette wished to share with her.
The designer she had met with had been confused by the order of two tsunagaru-katachi, one for engagement and one for wedding bands, as normally the engagement ring and both wedding bands were made from the base sheet. Same-sex marriages were new in Japan and restricted to certain areas, but the Tsurugi name carried enough weight for the request to be accepted without judgment.
The engagement rings were still connected by a tiny bit of metal, and should Marinette say yes, they would have a sharing ceremony over a celebratory dinner.
Kagami couldn’t stop herself from checking her bag, in front of her on the floor of the aircraft, for the velvet box again, for what had to be the umpteenth time.
“Kagami, fidgeting is unlike you,” her mother commented in Japanese. “What troubles you? Surely not doubts?”
“I only hope Mari-tō shares my desire to be united in marriage, Mother.” She realized abruptly that made her sound doubtful. “I have no doubt she does, but even with such certainty, I cannot help but be nervous.”
“Ah, I believe that is anxiety, which your chosen mate has much experience with according to her mother,” Tomoe responded.
“I believe hers is quite a bit more severe than what I am experiencing at present, but this experience gives me a new appreciation of her fortitude.”
Her mother placed a hand on her shoulder in a rare show of affection. “Then I have no doubt you will also conquer it and grow as a result. In the meantime, I suggest meditation.”
The rest of the flight passed quickly as her meditation faded into sleep; Kagami woke as they were landing, and immediately understood what people meant regarding butterflies in one’s stomach.
Her mother always travelled first class, so there was no wait to disembark. With other members of their retinue tasked with retrieving luggage and preparing to document her proposal, following a brief check by customs, there was nothing to delay meeting Marinette.
Kagami ducked into a restroom to smooth her clothing in a mirror, having chosen a simple andon-bakama, black with embroidered cranes and sunflowers—symbols of hope—with a red kosode for this occasion. A full kimono would have been uncomfortable on the long plane ride, but she wanted a level of formality for this occasion.
Tomoe waited patiently, not interrupting her as she checked herself in the mirror, likely recognizing this as more anxiety. But she had indicated her expectation that Kagami conquer it, so with a deep breath she left the restroom to continue on to meet Marinette.
Marinette was waiting beyond security with her parents, and she looked radiant. She was dressed in a pale pink qipao with gold embroidery, her pigtails higher on her head, in gentle buns that cascaded.
Kagami thought she might melt at the sight of her.
She met Marinette’s smile with what she hoped was an acceptable one of her own, striding forward at the beat of her own heart before dropping to one knee, pulling the velvet box from her bag, and opening it. She was vaguely aware of the flash of cameras.
“Marinette… Mari-tō… I have been blessed every day by your presence in my life. Will you marry me?”
Kagami could see tears shining in Marinette’s eyes. Instead of an answer, Marinette presented her with a wrapped box.
“My answer is in here,” she said softly.
The box was shaking slightly in her grasp, and Kagami took it, closing the ring box and placing it back in her bag to unwrap.
Inside was a qipao, crimson with gold and silver embroidery. Down the bust was a resplendent dragon. In its claw it held a lotus.
Looking up, she realized Marinette wore its yin, a lustrous phoenix with its own lotus in a talon. She recognized the symbolism of two lotus blooms—shared heart and harmony, hé for union. There were other flowers as well, gently ornamented around the phoenix, mirrored around the dragon. Lilies, orchids, peonies, daffodils, roses, and tulips, and a winding pattern of gentle twined vines.
Marinette had prepared her ‘yes’ in advance, in such a Marinette way.
“Kagami?” She realized abruptly that her mother couldn’t see the symbolism.
“Marinette has gifted me a qipao, embroidered with a golden dragon holding a lotus. She is wearing one with a phoenix holding its own lotus.”
A soft intake of breath meant her mother also knew the symbolism; unsurprising, given she had taught it to Kagami.
Marinette’s smile widened. “Ma sirène, I can think of no greater joy than spending the rest of my life with you.”
Kagami was hardly aware of getting to her feet, only of pulling Marinette into her arms, finding her lips in a public display of affection she would normally not indulge in but felt right in this moment. She was lost in her, their warmth and closeness, in the smell of yeast and cinnamon sugar that seemed ingrained in her hair.
Slowly she was aware of applause, and she broke from Marinette to find that the airport had stilled around them, their engagement having gained attention.
Marinette’s cheeks were red, and she was certain hers were as well if the heat in her face was any indication.
The attention was, thankfully, short-lived, with well-wishers expressing congratulations. Kagami was mostly aware of Marinette at her side as they were led to the waiting limo for the ride home.
It was another kiss from Marinette that pulled her more into awareness, when they entered the home.
“I wish to wear the qipao to dinner,” Kagami told her. “You hand-embroidered it yourself, didn’t you? It’s stunning.”
Marinette blushed happily at the compliment.
“Might I feel the stitching first, Marinette?” Tomoe asked politely. “I am only able to see with my hands.”
“Of course, Tsurugi-san!” Marinette gently took the garment from Kagami to present to her mother.
She tutted. “Please, simply Tomoe is fine. You are to become family. Following the wedding, you may feel free to call me kaasan or haha, whichever you feel comfortable with.”
Kagami thought Marinette might spontaneously combust at the offer, but she stood still as Tomoe’s hand ran over the proffered qipao, finding the shape of the embroidery with ease.
“This is splendid work,” she said softly. “You must have been working on this for some time.”
Marinette giggled softly. “Actually, I started it when I received the package with the kimono.”
Tomoe’s fingers went still at that, and then gently grasped Marinette’s right hand, pulling it out from under the fabric and feeling at the fingers. Kagami could see they were red, calloused, and her heart ached at the sight.
“Have more care with these, Marinette,” Tomoe said finally. “They work magic, and should be treated well.”
She asked one of the servants to bring a salve for Marinette’s fingers to Kagami’s room, and then invited Sabine and Tom to sit with her for pre-dinner tea, effectively dismissing the two of them until dinner.
When they were safely in Kagami’s room, she took Marinette’s hands, kissing each fingertip with reverence. When the salve arrived, she dabbed it on gently, rubbing it in with a tender touch.
They did not have time for relaxation, with dinner on the horizon, so Kagami changed into the qipao, which fit splendidly, falling just above her ankles and hugging her body in a way that gave her a figure. The slits up the sides were something she was unused to, but they did not go high enough to cause her discomfort or embarrassment. The higher collar gave the garment a modest appearance.
Marinette straightened and smoothed the fabric, making sure nothing was creased. She had only just finished when dinner was announced.
The meal was one of Kagami’s favorites, sukiyaki with a lovely variety of vegetable side dishes. It was everything one could want on a cold winter evening.
Afterward, Kagami placed the velvet box on the table.
“The rings are tsunagaru-katachi, cut from one block,” she said, opening the box and pulling out the rings to show they were joined by a tiny bit of remaining uncut metal. “In this sharing ceremony, we will together split them into two rings, to symbolize our eternal bond.”
She heard a sniffle and realized Tom was tearing up, and paused, uncertain how to react.
Sabine just smiled. “He’s a bit of a sucker for romance. Please go on, dear.”
Kagami turned back to Marinette. “Mari-tō, I chose the Sakura-cut diamond, as the cut has more facets, making the diamond as brilliant as you. Cherry blossoms represent the fleeting beauty of life, and I wish to spend the rest of mine with you.”
Marinette’s eyes were wet, and Kagami knew she was just as much a romantic as Tom was. She wasn’t sure whether she wanted to make her cry, though it would certainly show her she had hit her mark.
“The pink tourmaline is a representation of your love and compassion, and the way you work to protect and heal those around you,” she continued. “And the ruby represents the passion you have inspired in me, the zest for life you have instilled in me since we met.”
There went the tears; she had absolutely hit the mark.
“Mari-tō, will you share this ring with me?”
Marinette reached forward, letting Kagami guide her hand as they gently pulled the rings apart, gently bending and breaking the bit of metal that kept them together. Then Kagami took Marinette’s left hand, sliding the perfectly-fitting ring onto her ring finger. Marinette did the same.
Together, they let Sabine take pictures, and eventually Marinette pulled out her phone to take a selfie of them and their rings, quickly posting it to her Instagram with the caption, “Kagami asked for my hand in marriage, and I accepted. We just had our sharing ceremony with the lovely tsunagaru-katachi she designed.”
Kagami pulled out her own phone to like and share with her own followers. “I get to share my life with the most wonderful woman in Paris.”
By the time they were done, the table had been set for dessert and tea. The centerpiece was a Bûche de Noël brought by Marinette’s parents, and next to it was a red celebration suama. They were surrounded by wagashi, yuzu castella, manjū and mizu yōkan. Several pots containing different varieties of tea were also on the table.
It was a night of celebration. A night that let Kagami hear her mother’s rare laughter as Tom used puns and Sabine regaled Tomoe with silly stories of Marinette growing up. A night that showed they would be, altogether, a lovely family, both sides together. A night that allowed her to feed Marinette her favorite Japanese sweets, and be fed by her in turn.
They ignored the soft mobile notifications of text messages from friends to focus on each other.
The tea was replaced by watered down sparkling sake to celebrate an auspicious night, and as she snuggled with the best friend who had become her beloved, Kagami found herself more content than she had ever been.
