i don't think it's observed enough how fucking funny it is in fullmetal alchemist that Sloth is defeated by Alex Louis Armstrong and Sig Curtis. an incredibly powerful homunculus of inhuman strength and, surprisingly, speed is taken out by the combined efforts of one of the Amestrian army's greatest alchemist soldiers whose unarmed alchemy technique has been passed down through generations, and then just some guy. and like, the guy is pretty big. but like. he sells meat, man. he sells meat, he's literally just a big strong guy who sells meat

Only Ed can do it because he can then leave through Al's door. He can do it because he is connected to Al.

That can't be done by Izumi or Roy.

Also I would say the manga points pretty clearly that Izumi had kids, in the end.

Ed and Al.

if Izumi Curtis were to give up her gate for her womb back or whatever, could she have children again? Would she be able to accept life without alchemy the way Edward has and be willing to do it? would she be even able too? im assuming if you want to like "untrade" whatever you lost when you committed human transmutation you can just give up your gate. pretty sure Truth said it was the "correct" answer but the "correct" choice could be a universal answer or it could be correct just for Edward's circumstance.

if it is universal and if she wanted to be a mother that much I would think she would do it. but that's just a thought.

I'm on my second watch-through of Fullmetal Alchemist and I'm about to be insufferable with the deluge of artwork I'm cranking out

FMA Modern AU where both Trisha and Hohenheim die in an accident, in the same accident Ed looses a leg and leaves Al temporarily wheelchair bound. They both end up on foster care and due to Al technically needing more medical care they end up separated for a few years.

Ed ends up in pinakos care where the rockbells make him a prosthetic leg, though foster care come and claim that they had a better place for him to stay and took him away, upsetting all parties. All because the rockbells werent technically a legal foster family and temp custody was given so that ed could get his let made and recover. He spends those years trying to get back to the rockbells and find his brother. Ed ends up being moved from hiuse to house bc of his bad mouth and behavior.

Al, 15 and walking mostly on crutches now, is deemed well enough to be placed in normal foster homes again. His first placement is with one Izumi and Sig Curtis.

And theyre good people! They take care of Al and Respect him. Hes got a room on the bottom floor of their house, Izumi makes sure he does his physical therapy so that he can move better. Sig is seen putting extra food on his plate and makes sure he eats well. They give him space but also make sure hes taken care of.

Al likes it with the Curtises. He finds himself losing track of time and seeing their house as his home. But he soon feels guilty. extremely guilty. Because he realized hes moving on and Ed isnt there. They havent seen each other in so long.

Izumi and Sig find him crying and gently ask whats the matter so Al tells them how hes feeling. Ixumi and Sig look at each other that Al missed as they console the boy they see as a son now.

Days pass then weeks and Al forgets about his breakdown. Hes returning home from school one day when he sees an expensive car in a driveway that he doesnt recognize. He is barely able to get in the door before he sees his brother on the couch with a large unknown man, izumi and sig.

Eds hair is long now, and he wore punk clothes. But that was still his brother and he couldnt believe it.

"Ed..?" Is all he could say before Ed noticed him and shot up from the couch , rushing over and pulling Al into hug.

Come to find out Izumi and Sig went out of there way to track Ed down, see that he was in a group home and requested that they foster him as well.

"Normally such a thing doesnt tend to work out. However since I know Ed personally i made this exception." Armstrong, Eds social worker, had said.

They were together again and by the end of the year they were adopted together.

If you ever wonder how Mrs Bradley thought King Bradley was utterly charming as a young man, just look at how he tries to wheedle his way past Sig so he can talk with Izumi --

"Oh, I am so charming and earnest and your wife is so smart and"

Oh yes, and it's that shirtless scene with Sig and Armstrong being muscle buddies but Bradley is actually there the whole time:
