Queen Serenity is actually the full title or title and surname, rather than the title and given name. Upon ascending, the new Queen Serenity chooses a personal title that is also the name assigned to her reign, similar to the era system in Japan. The Silver Millennium was the name of Silver Queen Serenity, Neo Queen Serenity chose her title as the first of the new Serenity line, while Chibi Usa will eventually choose the title Rosen Queen Serenity.

Rei x Jadeite Week - day 1: Pride

For this first prompt I give you art and a headcanon to go with it!

So I think that in the Silver Millennium, Jadeite had a very hard time trying and getting closer to Mars. Even in the midst of all the plans and efforts to strengthen the bond between the Moon and the Earth, while the Moon people and the senshi were generally welcoming of the Earth people and doing their best to promote good relations between the two Kingdoms, Mars would mantain an unfriendly and detached attitude towards them. She would refuse to interact with them in any way except for the bare minimum courtesy, even in formal circumstances—she wouldn't accept a dance at a party, she wouldn't make small talk during meetings etc. Just to remind them that the favour and friendship that was being extended to them weren't to be taken for granted. So Jadeite had to think about something less conventional to approach her. Lucky for him he's the Knight of Perseverance (and bad ideas) so he wasn't going to give up easily! :D

She was the Princess of Mars, so her domain was battle and war. He thus started to boast about his exceptional and unmatched fighting techniques whenever she was close by. Making sure to be extra pompous about it. Being the prideful warrior that she was, of course she took the bait. She had to teach this arrogant man from Earth a lesson. So she challenges him to show her his supposedly amazing fighting prowess, planning to thoroughly humiliate him and put him back in his place. They start sparring occasionally, and he finds out that she is in fact much more inclined to communication and to physical proximity in a fighting context. She is not completely unapproachable anymore. So he obviously uses these opportunities to try to impress her (which mostly fails—he's the one more and more impressed) but most of all to at least start a conversation (even if it's mostly snarky little banters at first) and of course to be a little flirty now and then.✨

I was planning to make a second piece from a different perspective so that the pose and dynamics of the scene would be clearer but couldn't make it. I was never fully happy with it and I didn't want to waste any more time on it and decided to just post this and be done with it. ;_; I'll just link the music video I used for reference so you can check it out to have a better idea (the fighting sequence is at around 2:40)!

One headcannon I have about Sailor Mars is that normally she's not interested in boys and "thinks they're pretty stupid" but she -however reluctantly- makes an exception for Jadeite. Honestly I can see Jadeite making it his personal mission to prove Mars wrong and failing every time. Which of course leads them to fall in love with each other.

Casablanca Memories says Rei did like her father's protoge and when he turned out to be like her father, she stopped trusting men entirely.

Okay so there's nothing wrong there. But consider, even during the Silver Millenium Mars was untrusting of men, including those who resided in the moon kingdom. That is, until she met Jadeite. Obviously not right away at all. And she probably kicked him, singed his hair or stomped on his feet a couple times before coming around to him. But I like the idea of Jadeite being the only man that could ever earn Mars' affections.

Took me 3 days with LOADS of research on reference poses to feel like I got the basic outline right-ish. Eventually, I hope I can make one for each of the Senshi, but god knows if I'll be able to. LOL

I've been sitting on this for about a week, but I can finally share my piece for the first prompt of the @yuriolympics2023!! The prompt for the first round was "Memory" so I thought a Silver Millennium piece would be perfect! These are my redesigns for Princess Serenity and Princess Venus! I've always loved the idea that those two had a connection. Be sure to check out the other pieces for this competition!
