Work in progress - my SilMil AU Mars's awakening.

Took me 3 days with LOADS of research on reference poses to feel like I got the basic outline right-ish. Eventually, I hope I can make one for each of the Senshi, but god knows if I'll be able to. LOL

Hotaru 1.0 (土萠ほたる) is the daughter of Tomoe Souichi, de jure leader of the Death Busters after a lab accident that killed her mother and burned her right arm and leg causing her severe chronic pain that's only eased by the Taioron Crystal.

She gets used as the vessel for Mistress 9 that will awaken once the Death Busters fill the Taioron Crystal with the power of the Grail OR Hotaru kicks the bucket. The Let's Kill Hotaru For The Good Of The World Gang (which in the AU is the Outers plus Minako) does actually end up killing her against Usagi's wishes but WHOOPS THAT WAS A BAD IDEA NOW WAS IT.

Saturn awakens, does her thing, Usagi solves it, yadayadayada. When she's reborn as a baby Pluto takes her and puts her in a hospital in the future because I'm not about her murderers raising her as her own pretending like nothing happened.

She gets adopted and named Doei Hotaru (土栄蛍) so now we have Hotaru 2.0. While she doesn't have superficial injuries like 1.0 she still keeps the chronic pain from her but she manages with meds (and later her powers once she transforms).

Her first name is kanji (surname) and hiragana (given name) but translates to "firefly sprouting from the earth." Her second name is all kanji and translates to "firefly flourishing from the earth". A subtle change but I feel it fits lol

SilMil Saturn is inspired by bugs obviously and her mask is lightly based on them classic plague doctor masks. Her fuku is also loosely based on the rejected La Cygne Sailor Moon design.

Saturn 2.0 is basically canon Saturn bar the sleeves (she gets them with the upgrade) and her brooch is rounded yet unique because like the other Senshi that don't quite fit the hierarchy she uses one to transform. Phrase is still Saturn Planet Power Make Up. She also gets a more elaborate glaive.

If there was a re-boot of sailor moon with you writing it I would CONSUME that stuff. Your headcanons and concepts sound so much cooler than the original show :') (I still love the og show dearly, but like- yours just has a more complex vibe and I'm living for it.)

Also question, what do you mean by princess serenity being jealous that Usagi gets to live life and not her? Is it sort of like an inner voice for Usagi and the other guardians??

Hi First I wanna mention that this is also a very old ask and it came out before I posted my summary for my AU season 2, which goes into further details about Serenity. Second of all, Thank you so much!

It means a lot that people are not only willing to listen to me babble about my AU, but that they ask so many questions about it, it’s heartwarming, truly! <3 <3

Though, getting back to your Princess Serenity question, Princess Serenity doesn’t ‘despise’ Usagi as a person, she just feels an immense resentment toward her existence after Minako points out that Serenity is stealing her life.

Quick recap, Serenity back in silmil accepted a deal by Venus to let herself be killed by Venus’ sword so that her soul would persist through the next life, lying dormant within Usagi til the right moment where Serenity could regain control of her new reincarnated body and get to live a new fair life.

She, much like Queen Serenity (way more so than her tho), is not an outright malicious person, she doesn’t willingly choose to make decisions that will cause harm to others. She does feel good about helping other people, but not it at the cost of depriving herself from goods, services, people, etc.. cause she was lead to believe she’s deserving of such privileges. To her they aren’t privileges, gifts, they are a RIGHT, much like life. Her new life is something the universe owes her, her past life was terrible, she deserves to live free from the responsibility of being Queen and just live happily with her lover.

Much like many people, Serenity chooses to turn her cheek to things she doesn’t wanna see and closes herself in a reality where she can be happy. In silmil it was her life with her ‘friend’ Venus and especially her lover Endymion, choosing to stay oblivious of the suffering of humans back on Earth and the suffering of her fellow soldiers. She doesn’t like being accused that her ignorance and selfishness could be a direct cause of people’s suffering.

And this is where Usagi comes into the picture. Why does Usagi deserve this new life more than her? The universe gave HER her rightful second chance, Usagi well, Serenity’s mentality when directly addressed to this is basically “sucks for her” (tho she wouldn’t say this out loud cause it would undeniably confirm to herself and others that she IS selfish and she IS NOT ‘oblivious’ to it anymore, she’s actively choosing self preservation over the given life of another).

At the beginning Serenity only manifests in a “feeling” when interacting with Mamoru, it’s not a particularly strong one, it doesn’t affect Usagi’s feelings toward him apart from the feeling of “I feel like I’ve seen you before”, tho as the season goes on, her presence is more and more felt, not only by Usagi, but also the people around her and it all ’explodes’ at the moment of Rei’s ‘death’ in season 1 (tldr, the senshi except Usagi and Mina are called to a mission which is in reality a booby trap by Kunzite and Zoisite, the girls get their shit kicked in and when Usagi appears she pleads to give the Crystal for their lives. Kunzite ‘accepts’ but tried to kill Usagi regardless, Rei steps in the way and gets stabbed). At this point Serenity comes to Usagi as a force, rendering her hollow, much like Serenity is shown in her first appearance in the anime, but much scarier, sending her now hollow senshi (Mercury and Jupiter) to brutally attack the 2 generals, while she embraces Rei, healing her just in time. Venus comes in and bashes Usagi on the head, severing the fragile connection between Usagi and Serenity at that moment and returning Jupiter and Mercury to their status quo.

From then on Serenity’s voice is ever so present within Usagi, but Usagi chooses to be silent about it with the others, thinking it might just be the Silver Crystal and her ally (Serenity keeping quiet on who she rlly is and her true intentions, the only reason she even communicates with Usagi is to make sure she prioritizes Endymion’s safety).

Other than her, Venus and Mars are really the only inners to keep a fairly strong connection to their reincarnated ‘selves’.

I’ve explained Venus’ role int he story many times, so I’ll keep it brief and just mention the ways she keeps contact with Mina. She torments Mina on a daily basis, depending how far into the seasons, she can just be a voice within Mina, to appearing as outright hallucinations.

She will appear through reflections, speak to her through tvs, radios and even in writings. When her connection is weaker, she just limits to mimicking and using voices around Mina, but as the connection grows stronger, she will be able to fully use her own voice/appearance to communicate with her.

At the beginning Mina was fairly trusting of her, while still being skeptical of the whole deal around silmil, she listened to Venus’ demands to fully dedicate herself into becoming a sailor senshi and become a good leader, otherwise, she thought, it would cause the fall of civilization as they know it and the death of her ‘soon to be’ teammates by the hands of the Dark kingdom. During this period Venus could be considered almost a mentor to Mina, while keeping a sharp edge on her approach. Using intimidation, mockery and guilt-tripping as her main forms of manipulation.

As for Mars, she is very low key with her approach of interacting with Rei. Unlike Venus, Mars is a genuinely good person, only wishing to guide Rei, but not being willing to step over the line if Rei steps up boundaries with her. Her main way of communication with Rei is through visions, offering Rei guidance and a helping hand, understanding the heavy toll recurring visions can have on someone and the enormous responsibility this role carries.

As for Mercury and Jupiter, they have little no interest (or means) to interact with their reincarnations. Jupiter much less so, honestly being content to just cease existing. While Mercury only appearing to Ami during the very few moments she’s ‘allowed’ to (ex. Sailor Mercury’s transformation, appearing as a sort of sinister figure who passes down the torch to Ami, as to say). Still she has little interest to interact with this new vessel, embellishing in her own amusement while sitting on the back lines, watching over the ever evolving car crash taking place. Life is such a curios thing.

Small elements of their personality re-emerging when Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury are taken over by Serenity and the Silver Crystal. Mercury constantly presenting an eerie amused smile while Jupiter taking the whole opposite stand, never smiling, hunching over, seeming to sulk in her own miserable existence.

AU where Usagi and Minako are twin sisters and Motoki and Unazuki are their step siblings. And then Shingo is their half brother.

Usagi and Minako are from Ikuko's first marriage/pregnancy but didn't get married (which is common)

Motoki and Unazuki are from Kenji's first marriage

Shingo was born after Kenji and Ikuko were married.

Instead of Mr. Furuhata (who would technically be Kenji in this case) owning the Crown Arcade, its their uncle who owns it.

Thanks for answering my question @riverlethe 😆 but since you’ve mentioned that you have a SilMil AU Wip on file, I was wondering if you can tell us a little about it, if that’s okay with you?

It's an idea I've been kicking around for awhile but didn't start writing anything down until UsaMamo Week 2023. Unfortunately, I just didn't have time to get it done, and it's been sitting in my WiP pile since then.

I was inspired by one of Loreena McKennitt's amazing songs, and the plot (without giving away spoilers) is very loosely Sailor Moon meets Mists of Avalon (King Arthur story). Not sure how long it will be, probably not more than a few chapters at most, but one can never say for certain.

1. Coffee date prompt from My Own Little Stage: I’m actually really proud of this entire little collection, but this is one of the ones that stands out. A little background on Mamoru and Motoki and some post-breakup angst resolution.

2. Contrition: At first I couldn’t decide if this was one of my favorites or do I feel like it has to be since it’s everyone else’s? But no, I’m still pretty proud of this one. R canon divergence where Mamoru remembers but Usagi does not. Peak angst writing for me.

3. Domino: The one that created the 5 Years universe. SilMil AU where Queen Serenity catches Endymion sneaking around and gives him both a talking-to and a pretty important white mask. I like its vibes.

4. Chapters 1-2 of 5 years: Complicated. SilMil AU based on Domino that I tried to trudge through deep into the pandemic. Still very happy with chapters 1 and 2, but the jury’s still out on the rest.

5. Geese. This is a Bridgerton Kate and Anthony mini fic, so, probably not what I should be answering this ask with, but I like it and it’s still something I’ve written, so I’m putting it here :).

Silver Millennium AU: Sol System

I decided to expand on this post i made a while ago! I’m going to make a separate post for each planet later(just so it doesn’t get so long) but before I do that I want to set up what the general universe is like before i go into specifics. 

This isn’t a fic, it’s pretty much a setting. Just a heads up, this will diverge from a lot. Hope you guys like it!

Before the fall of Silver Millennium, each of the planets had their own cultures. The destruction of the Moon Kingdom made all the planets the inhabitable wastelands we know today, but before that they had thriving civilizations. 

This includes the outer planets! People who live in the outer reaches of the sol system have different values than those who live near the Moon Kingdom. The duty of the outer planets is to protect from threats beyond the sol system no matter what, and they take that duty very seriously. Those from the inner sol system see the outer planets as extreme and fatalistic. The outer planets still serve under the Moon Kingdom, but because they are so far away they tend to be more self reliable. 

The guardians don’t live forever. The power of their planet is passed on from generation to generation, usually through the same bloodline but in rare cases a star seed will choose a host outside the bloodline. Guardians will live for around 500-600 years, and a normal citizen will live up to 500 years.

 Each new team of guardians is referred to a ‘generation’, each with different personality and team dynamics. The team we know was the final generation that were resurrected by Queen Serenity. 

How advanced technology depends on the planet. Mercury, the Moon Kingdom and Pluto are the most technologically advanced. Mercury is the most medically advanced and has the only super computer in the Sol System. Pluto and the Moon Kingdom have the best teleportation and communication tech in order for the Moon to get reports about the Time Door and how the outer planets are doing. 

The other planets reserve the best technology for the guardians, so regular citizens don’t have access to much technology unless they work for the guardians. This disparity has caused tension within the planets and between the guardians, but each generation has handled it in their own way.

There is a Sol Army, who denounce loyalty to their home planet to either protect the Moon Kingdom. There are two branches of it, one branch works within the inner solar system and one works with the outer solar system. 

The Inner Sol Army focuses on protecting the Moon Kingdom itself, and stands as a final line of defense in case the outers fail. They technically work under the Inner Guardians, but because it’s their job to protect the Princess each of the planets will have their best citizens lead (Venusians lead, Mercurians lead medics, Jovians are brute force, and Martians fight/strategize) 

 The Outer Sol Army focuses on dealing with threats from outer systems (which come quite often, before Metallia the Sol Systems threats always came from outside). They work directly under the Outers, but the Outer Guardians are always physically present where the fighting is the worst. 

Each planet has some form of an oligarchy (where a small group of people rule) as their government system. How the planet chooses who sits on their council varies; sometimes the people will vote, or the guardians will choose them. The responsibility of ruling the planet rarely falls on the Guardian, unless it’s a time of 100% peace. The Guardians do have significant power in their planets government, they are typically trusted to know the best interests of their planet.  

Star seeds worked differently in Silver Millennium than they did after it fell. Before the fall, star seeds were large, physical crystals that the guardians drew their power from. The exact origin and full power of them is unknown, but the guardians are the only ones who can control it. I think I’m going to expand on this later.

For anyone that cares, I’ve always been in awe of these marble statues of veiled women, they literally take my breath away. But Naoko LOVED to draw the girls in fabrics that draped like crazy and defied the laws of gravity and were translucent enough to show anatomy and these remind me so much of that. Soft contours of the body but also the drapery of the fabric. Jaw dropping honestly.

SilMil AU Mars's power awakening (pre-transformation)

As opposed to the present-day Sailor Senshi team being able to transform as soon as they receive their transformation items, I envision the past-life Senshi needing to train loads to hone their powers, so all of them can use their elementary powers to a limited extent even without transformation.

I'm very excited with how this piece turned out, especially with how the bow and the flames looked. I actually wasn't too sure where I was going with this when I started, it's like Mars was guiding me along the way to make sure this looks as epic as I could make it. XD

I toyed with the background quite a bit and was torn between the gradient black-to-red background or a plain gray background. The gradient with the flame speckles seems to give a better vibe. But a plain gray one also looked pretty cool, and I could see the different glow better from a lighter background. ✰🔥✰

I had to add the Senshi transformation item/the communicator-looking gadget on Mars's wrist. I TOTALLY forgot about that in my initial wip post, and had to go through episodes of PGSM to find the best screenshot for a good reference. lol

Now let's see if I can keep this up with Venus, Mercury and Jupiter's. :P

Hello, I was checking your posts because I wanted to read more about the Silver Millenium AU and found a post stating that Michiru and Minako would hate each other. Is it because purely because of the SilMil story, or is there also something going on between them in your AU?

Hello! If you’re referring to this post then it’s not about silmil, it’s just about simple humans named Michiru Kaioh and Minako Aino not being very compatible human being to say the least lol.

In silmil they didn’t like each other either, but that’s for different reasons since their silmil ‘selves’ are different people from who they are now.

To make it short I just think they would 100% get on each other’s nerves, they both think they are much bette and smarter than the other. Mina is technically the leader, but if Michiru doesn’t wanna listen, she absolutely won’t and there’s little Mina can do about it outside of physical force (tho I see Venus as a slightly better fighter than Neptune, it’s a very close shave).

You know the way their brain works is also not extremely dissimilar and they don’t like being able to be read by another person, so, what it is that they say? Takes one to know one.
