Su arrojo y valentía al tomar instantáneas le llevaron a capturar algunas de las más icónicas imágenes bélicas de todos los tiempos.  Acuñó la frase “si la foto no es buena es porque no estás los suficientemente cerca” . Se paseaba por los frentes de batalla con resolución y activaba el obturador de su cámara con las balas sobrevolándole la cabeza. Y, como no podía ser de otra manera, su final fue trágico. Una imagen muy aplaudida que se vio envuelta en la polémica hacia el final de su vida. Y es que se descubrió que fue una instantánea pactada, pese a que Doisneau siempre la vendió como espontánea.
