The treasures we are finding at the Edmonds By-Appointment-Only sale continues to amaze us! This amazing 90+ year old man amassed such incredible and rare collections. I learn more and more every time I work there. There are several pieces of furniture that totally mystify me… ornate, carved heads and faces. I’ve never seen so many in one place! I just found out that “face furniture” and “face chairs” are a real thing! We’ll be sharing more of these soon! This will be a private, by-appointment-only sale. Oldsmobile Radiator Shroud Emblem Going through bin after bin of jewelry which will be offered at our Cinco de Mayo weekend sale in Woodinville, look what we found! Some crafty person decided to glue this antique emblem to a flat piece of metal in order to create a bolo tie! But there was just something about it… This radiator emblem is attributed to an Oldsmobile model automobile that was manufactured by Olds Motor Works of Lansing, Michigan during the early 20th century. Ransom Eli Olds began the Olds Motor Works in 1891 when he built a three-wheeled, steam powered car. He also experimented with electric vehicles before building the Curved Dash Runabout, the first mass produced vehicle. In 1904, Ransom Olds left the company to found REO. Oldsmobile is one of the few companies whose history spans the initial experimental period of automobile manufacturing up through recent production. Radiator emblems are small, colorful metal plates bearing an automobile manufacturer's name or logo that attached to the radiators grilles of early automobiles. 1954 FLXIBLE VISICOACH Original Mount Rainier National Park Tour Bus Rare Scenic Roof Sightseer Windows Well-documented history. Recorded in the Flxible VIN history, this is one of only two Mount Rainier National Park tour busses; it is unknown if the other still exists. Converted to an RV / Motorhome in 1972. Just one-third of one six-foot table packed with hotel silver as we begin the arduous (but fun!) task of sorting through a lifetime collection. This is the very reason we go.through.every.single.thing when we begin working on an estate sale! Found rolled up, in a box deep in a closet, sitting with a bunch of recyclable odds and ends… This is an oil painting on canvas or linen, it’s very colorful! We believe it’s Balinese (Bali, an Indonesian island). Looks to be from the 1940s-1950s. We love to take literally hundreds of photos after spending days and weeks digging, sorting, identifying, cleaning, merchandising, displaying, researching, and pricing for an estate sale… then hours of editing as well. We also love to showcase the “before” photos so people can see what we walk into during our consultation! But believe it or not… there is more! When we take on an estate sale, no matter what the home (garage, barn, outbuildings) look like, we always tell the client that it’s going to get worse before it gets better! These are a few pictures we took when we dropped off our supplies and we plan to have several “befores” up on the website soon! I think one of our new requirements for hosting an estate sale will be that the client must have a lakefront property. That’s reasonable, right? Of course, fishing rights would also be a must!
