Today marks the one year anniversary that I started listening to Campaign: Skyjacks. In that year, I have seen my art drastically improve, become obsessed with the discography of a band from Portland, and made new friends all because of this show.
I absolutely adore every character created, pc or npc (even JOJ 😔), but my favorite character has always been Travis. Everything about him was so compelling from the get-go, this mysterious man who turns into animals and steals too many timepieces, who goes on a huge journey of emotional growth and learning to trust, who has found so many reasons to live. The story he tells is full of so much hope that it makes me tear up just thinking about it.
Farewell, Travis Matagot. We're all really going to miss you.
Take flight.

finally brought myself to listen to episode 179 of skyjacks. I stopped listening when it came out, summer of my junior year of high school. Not because I no longer liked the show, I just knew I wasn’t in a place where I could handle another ending. These stories become my life. When I lose a part of them, or a person in them, it feels like I’ve lost a friend. I’m now finishing up my freshman year of college and I’ve missed these goofy ass motherfuckers. Let’s take flight.

Okay now that we’re past the week’s moratorium on Skyjacks 179 spoilers:
Listen I have so many emotions associated with this episode for the obvious reasons, but also fuck was this funny to listen to. Vibes of trying to hit Travis Matagot with a flyswatter but even when you’re writing him off the show he won’t. fucking?? die??? Love seeing the setup for moments when this could turn into a tragedy---both with the ‘what are your reasons for living’, which would have been tremendous and heartwrenching for a character that makes overtures to such deep and abiding apathy, but also the ‘hey this’ll work if you turn into a creature, but you won’t be able to change back’---and then it just gets blasted into oblivion by Travis going ‘nuh uh’. This isn’t a complaint btw this is peak Travis behavior. What a way to go out.

Hey skyjacks listeners! If you're itching to hear more about speir (and more of that incredible song at the end of 179) and you haven't listened to it already, I highly recommend skyjacks: courier's call! Don't think that just because it's all ages means that it isn't as funny, thrilling, dramatic, and high-stakes as the main campaign. It introduces cool new lore to the world of speir and gives you fun new characters to fall in love with.
Aside from the first few episodes, they're all about half an hour long, and there's only around fifty episodes, so don't be intimidated by fear of starting a very long listen. On top of that, there are really fun tales from thornvale interspersed with the story episodes, which tell tales of adventures all over speir (and I'm not even exaggerating, my favorite story from the world of Skyjacks is one of these).
I genuinely think that if anyone enjoys skyjacks or anything about speir, you'll love courier's call
