'Tails Skypatrol' was released on the SEGA Game Gear 29 years ago today in Japan. Support us on Patreon

During the process of updating the designs for Witchcart and the Witchcarters, Aaron Hammerstrom made some spritework based on Tails' Skypatrol to see how designs would work at that scale.

As far as I know Aaron Hammerstrom has not uploaded these in high quality anywhere, thus I've attempted to recreate these and upscaled them to view properly. (Note: Some colors may be off, I've based the colors mostly off of the ripped sprites from Spriters Resource but Hammerstrom must have fiddled with the colors a bit because some of the colors are a bit different).

An interesting thing to note is that while Witchcart, Hockewulf and Bearenger's faces were left relatively intact, Carrotia's face is a total resprite. In fact, 95% of it is totally original save for the bow.

I re-read the Tails 30th anniversary comic a few days ago and I noticed this with cover B.

I searched online to see if anyone noticed too and nobody was talking about it. (Unless I missed something, which I wouldn't be surprised tbh)

There is a small chance it's a coincidence, but c'mon, there's way too many things that line up for it not to be.

Rumour: Classic Amy, Game Gear titles, physical release for Sonic Origins Plus, now-deleted report claims

The rumour stemmed from a now-deleted report from ComicBook.com that alleged new information concerning the Classic Sonic collection. We found out it was written in the form of a press release, which suggested to us that the details were officially relayed under a predefined agreement, but we have no way to verify this.

If true, and according to the report, Origins Plus will allegedly have:

12 Game Gear titles emulated and playable,

Classic Amy as a playable character in Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3, and Sonic CD,

Knuckles as a playable character in Sonic CD,

All previously released Sonic Origins DLC included,

Scheduled for a 23 June 2023 release.

The Game Gear titles in Origins Plus were reported to be:
