SLBP Write-up Masterlist

Do you love Samurai Love Ballad Party but wish you could read more of the official content?

Under the cut is a stupidly long post of about 2 years of my collecting story events, main stories and various special bits, all written up in Google Docs and now open to your wonderful eyeballs. Some notes are also there if you care, if not just click some links and enjoy, send this to someone who might find it useful and/or check out my fanfics (sparkletwink on AO3) if you want to support the ridiculous amount of effort I put into it. Thank you.

Mid-way through my SLBP play I’d started writing a load of fanfic for it and wanted references, so started this collection with the vague intention of eventually sharing it with anyone who might have missed old story events, or for having to enjoy when the servers eventually go down. I don’t write up everyone any more, because it takes a LONG time, so I’m sorry if any of your faves are missing.

If you have any epilogues that you’d like to donate free free to send me a link and I’ll tack them on when I have time. An asterisk in the title of the Doc means I have the epilogue but haven’t written it up yet. 

[Ep] refers to a story event including its epilogue, [POV Ep] includes an epilogue from the lord/ninja’s point of view. My MC is called Arekkusu Yuri. I adjust the spellings to British English for my own sanity (sorry ‘Murica) and fix any obvious errors in the writing, but leave any indecipherable nonsense from confusing translation. However, if you notice any mistakes other than that, just leave a comment in Docs to let me know.

(Note: I won’t be giving trigger warnings for questionable behaviour from the characters because I just don’t have the brainpower to check every single story for potential triggers. If you’re in the fandom you probably already know the writing can get dark, e.g. abusive/controlling relationships, death of loved ones, lack of informed consent, unchecked mental illness. Go into anything you read carefully and don’t hurt yourself for the sake of a dumb story.)

SLBP Fluff - Mitsunari/MC

Just some fluff inspired by the recent Lover's Handbook SE, in which MC temporarily rescues a cat and names it Sakichi. @voltagefandomproject

It isn't fair.

Ishida Mitsunari has never, until this point, had any particular faith in the fairness of the universe. His life, he believes, has been a solid argument for the general hostility and unfairness of the universe. But at this moment, watching that damn cat nuzzle at her chin, all he knows is jealousy. It should be him rubbing against her soft skin. That joyful smile belongs to him, not a stray feline that leaves hair in his futon and scratches in the tatami.

The fact that she's named it Sakichi is just rubbing salt in the wound.

And so, he thinks as he watches them from the doorway: it's not fair.

The grumbling sigh that escapes him attracts the attention of both of these nuisances. Sakichi-the-cat leaves her to come lean up against Mitsunari's hakama, leaving a pale grey trail of fur along his dark hakama. His breath leaves in a disgruntled hiss, and he ignores the rippling giggle as he stomps into the hall.

He regrets his surliness later, after Sakichi has been delivered to his new home. Her smile is not quite so joyous and Mitsunari doesn't know how to comfort her. It's clear she misses the cat.

He taps at her bedroom door that evening. Her lamp is still lit, and he can see her faint shadow moving through the paper screens. Her head snaps up and she hurries to open the door.

"Lord Mitsunari!" Her face is a picture of surprise. She steps back to let him in. He enters and sweeps his gaze around the room. Her futon is laid out and he can still see remnants of grey hair on the bedclothes. He feels his eyebrows draw together and her gaze follows his.

"Oh." She smiles ruefully. "I'm sorry. I couldn't bear to wash away the last memory of Sakichi yet."

"Foolish. That cat will have forgotten you by his first meal with those people." She flinches, and he mentally kicks himself. He’s come here to make her happier, not drive her further into melancholy.

She doesn’t notice his internal struggle. Her hands come up to clasp her elbows and she shakes her head. “I know you’re right, Lord Mitsunari.” She offers him a weak smile.

The dimming of her usual glow aches in his throat and he swallows awkwardly. Say something nice. Or at least not mean. “You miss him anyways,” he mutters.

She nods. “He was just so . . . affectionate.” Like you aren’t, she doesn’t say out loud, but he hears it anyways, he thinks. “Without any hesitation.”

Mitsunari takes the few steps to her futon and sits by the foot of it. He clasps his hands in his lap and stares at the floor, gathering some courage.

“It is – difficult, for some.” That isn’t a complete thought. He tries again. “For those in certain . . . positions, displaying affection thoughtlessly can be dangerous.”

He doesn’t dare look up as her footsteps approach. Her knees, clad in a pale night robe, enter his field of vision as she kneels in front of him.

“I know,” she says softly.

He clears his throat noisily, and comes to the part of the situation that has irked him the most – that isn’t fair. “Why did you name him Sakichi?”

Her voice stays soft. “I know your position means you need to be reserved in public.” One small hand comes to rest on his clasped ones. “I thought, maybe, I could pretend it was you, without being too obvious.”

He can’t help the derisive snort, but opens his hands to grab hers before she can pull it away. “You might as well have named it Mitsunari and dressed it in one of my shirts, foolish woman.” He lifts his gaze to hers. Her smile is still weak.

“I know I’m a fool.” She squeezes his hands and shrugs. “But I know what I want, too.”

“I want things, too.” He pauses, and she waits in silence. Apparently she’s decided not to make things easy for him tonight. He lifts her hands to his mouth and mumbles against her knuckles. "Is it all right if I'm a little more honest about what I want?"

Her smiles blossoms into the joyous expression he’s been missing, and she throws her arms around his shoulders, knocking him back on his elbows. “Of course, Lord Mitsunari!”

“Only in private!” he stammers hastily. “Only – for you.” 

“Only here,” she agrees, hugging him tight. “Only with me. That seems fair.”

Snowball fight, Hide-Mitsun (as if Mitsun would agree to side with anyone else LMAO) vs Nobu-Inu, and Akechu is sitting it out. 

I made this thinking “I feel like only Hide would dare to throw snow in Nobu’s face”. I know there was this snowball fight event way back whenever, but even though the story writes it as “Nobubu is too stronk”, I just think it’s because nobody dares to actually smack Nobu in the face with the snow.
