Cang Qiong's rumor mill has a new topic.

Peak Lord Shen hasn't been seen in two weeks. The last time he was seen was flying back from An Ding, where he purportedly commandeered some unknown objects from An Ding's storerooms after a hasty discussion with Peak Lord Shang. He entered the Bamboo house and hasn't emerged since.

The most popular theory is Peak Lord Shen is conducting some sort of toeing-the-line-of-taboo ritual.

Eventually, someone convinces Mu Qingfang to do a wellness check.

The Qing Jing disciples greet their Mu-shishu respectfully, the disciple escorting him to the Bamboo House inquiring as to the nature of his visit, seeing as 'Shizun wasn't expecting shishu today.'

"This master is merely here to visit your Shizun."

The disciple bows after announcing Mu Qingfang's arrival.

Mu Qingfang opens the door.

"Shen-shixiong?"

"Mu-shidi? To what do I owe the pleA—FUCK get BACK HERE YOU ARE NOT"—the sounds of struggle reach Mu Qingfang's ears and he leaps to action, striding in to take stock of the situatio...n.

Shen-shixiong is flat on his stomach; outstretched hands tightly grasping a precocious ball of fluff. His eyes gleam in victory, the scene casting it in a more crazed light. There is a heaviness to Shen Qingqiu's eyes that cultivation cannot banish and miscellaneous stains on his person. And, looking around, the Bamboo House is a disaster. Books, brushes, scrolls, inkwells and fans are scattered around, many haphazardly dropped on the floor. There is. Also. Hay?

Mu Qingfang freezes in the doorway. Ball of fluff and Shen Qingqiu also freeze.

"Is... Shixiong alright?"

This seems to snap Shen Qingqiu into action. He scrambles up firmly but with care, cradling the fluffball. Shen Qingqiu gets himself in order as best he can with both his hands occupied and clears his throat.

"Ah...Yes. this master is fine. To what do I owe the pleasure?..."

The fluffball twitches, wriggling until Shen Qingqiu loses his grip on it. It hops to the floor. A juvenile Whitecrested Snowrabbit of Agility stares up at Mu Qingfang.

"This. Shidi could come back at a more opportune time?"

The bunny starts chewing on a scroll.

"I believe that would be best."

Mu Qingfang backs out of the doorway.

He does send tea to help with Shen-Shixiong's fatigue and a subspecies of carrot that Whitecrested Snowrabbits are supposed to favour though.

I wonder what the next topic of Cang Qiong's rumor mill will be?

This Nest is Not a Home

Little Frozha has a positive few on her life.... At least she tries to, esspecially when it comes to her home life...

The sun was dancing down the sky, all the various creatures of the snowy land were inside of their homes and prepare for the night to come. Except for one little chick, who was still sitting by her fishing hole in the ice, line casted, making little snowrabbits around her while waiting for the next bite.

Little Frozha smiled as she packed more snow into her hands to add to her 25th snowrabbit, enjoying the gentle winds and the soft splashes coming from the exposed water. She glanced up at the large pile of fish she had caught, the pile was bigger than her, but she knew she'd be able to bring it home.

... Home...

She did not want to go home...

Whenever she overheard other children talking about returning home, they always seemed so happy. Like they knew they were ensured to be safe, no catch, no price...

She wished she could say the same, to be happy to return to the nest, to be with HIM, but she couldn't. Not when he did nothing for her, not when he made her go out to hunt for food instead of doing it for them both, not when he-

Frozha was snapped out of her thoughts when her line starting shaking. Quickly grabbing it and reeling in her possible catch. Hearing a splash as another big fish was pulled out of the water. She swiftly threw it against the ice, took out her small knife from her coat pocket, and stabbed it. The fish's failing stopped when the blade entered it's side. Letting out a sigh, she tossed it into the pile, this would be enough for satisfy his hunger. Having already eaten some food herself, she secured her catch, picked it up, and began to march back to the nest with it.

...

The sky was full of stars when she arrived to the nest, it was surronded by long, giant rock spikes, covered by a massive boulder that's inside was carved out to make a shelter. A faint light coming from between the cloth that covered the doorway and the windows.

Entering the nest, she immediately went to the feasting area and placed it down and opened the fish net, then stepped away from the pile, looked towards he feet, and waited.

Giant footsteps began to approach her, stopping right next to her.

She could hear the giant presence next to her hum with thought, he was counting the amount of fish she caught, she knew for a fact he was. He always counted to make sure she had caught the exact amount he wanted. No more, no less.

Frozha felt a giant hand rest itself on top of her head.

"Good job as always, brat. This will go great with my drinks!" He shouted out.

"Thank you father." Frozha resonded, wincing as the volume bouned off the walls.

"Aight, you can go to bed now." Frozha's father said while he walked towards his meal. The little chick nodded, and retreated to her room for the night. Eager for it to be the morning again.

...

*BAM!*

Frozha jolted awake at the sudden bang, snapping her head towards the sound. Her stomach dropping at the sight of her father slummped in her doorway.

"I'm... hungry, brat..." Her father growled out, his words slurring.

"W-what?! B-but you said what I brought back was enough!"

"I'm..." Her father stomped towards her clentching his fist.

"HUNGRY!!!" He screamed out, his fist in the air. Before swinging it at Frozha.

She tried to block it, she truly did. But, as always whenever this happened, it didn't work. His fist struck her, then again, and again, and again...

All she could process was the pain of her father's srikes, his drunken threats, and the many tears streaming down her face. She didn't even realize her own screams mixed into her father's.

But surisingly, she did something she never did before, she swung her fist upwards and it collided with her father's beak. He yelped and covered it with his hands as he stumbled backward.

Frozha instantly took advantage of the window of time and ran out of her room, and out of the nest.

She didn't stop running when she noticed the heavy snowstorm. She didn't stop running when the thunder boomed and shook the earth. She didn't stop running even though her body was screaming at her to stop. She was done with this life of hers, done with her father, done with that damned nest.

That nest was never her home and she was finally done with all the pain it caused her.

....

Frozha's lungs were burning at this point, trudging through the snow and up a hill (at least she thinks it's a hill, she'd been going up for a while now), the blizzard making it difficult to see in front of her. She was far from the nest at this point. Although she had to admit she had no idea where she was now, and she was exhausted.

The little chick's energy had long since been lost, replaced with an intense hunger. She continued to trudge through the snow for a while before noticing a cave entrance in the rock wall that she was approaching.

"I... I need to rest... Here will be good for now..." She gasped out. Turning into the cave, she collapsed onto the ground of the entrance, leaning against the cave wall and struggling to catch her breath.

While she struggled, her eyes slowly fluttered shut as she slowly lost consciousness and drifted to sleep...

Unaware of the massive yeti slowly approaching her from inside the cave.

It sniffed her before gently grabbing her by the hood of her coat, and carried her deeper inside the cave.

The deeper into the cave the yeti walked, the more gentle sounds could be heard. They became loud enough to were Frozha slighty woke up and realized that she was being carried to a huddle of sleeping baby yetis. Placing her in the center of the huddle, and laying down around them along with the other adult yetis, as they all continued to watch over the babies.

Frozha, now fully aware of the situation she was in, looked around at the sleeping yetis. They all seemed so calm, so content...

So...safe...

As she continued to observe, she jumped at the sight of a few of the baby yetis scooting closer to her. One of them leaning closer to her face, and began sniffing her face. Then it proceeded to squirm itself under her and settle down to sleep, the others following it's lead and settling down against her and falling asleep.

As the baby yetis slept, Frozha's eyes began to fill with tears. She had never felt this safe in her entire life. Never felt this warm.

She continued to savor the warmth as she, once again, drifted off to sleep.

No matter what happens in her life starting tomorrow, Frozha will embrace it with open arms.
