breaking down the journey from arlet to the mahina woods into separate days to like. make it easier to write, and then had the very sad realisation that the closer they get to the woods the less keika will recognise ):

#bc he and ahuru spent those first few days so unused to the sunlight that they walked a lot of the way with their eyes/faces covered #so like at the very start keika notices a bridge and remembers it as the one he and ahuru hid under after their run in with the sheep #and hes literally mapping out the path they'll need to take based on those memories #but the closer he gets the more and more he has to rely on just. the general idea that the mahina woods are That Way #and idk its just sad to think that the closer he gets to home the more unfamiliar the path becomes #and like when he gets there and hes standing on the bank he realises he doesnt remember how he and ahuru crossed that first time #so he doesnt even remember HOW he left his home.
