It occurs to me that “Hunter, short for Witch-Hunter” is not entirely out of line with actual Puritan hortative naming practices (or at least, is certainly evocative of them), so now I’m just thinking of Belos giving all the grimwalkers similarly intense and unwieldy names that they may or may not have been aware of in full, depending on whether or not they made sense out of the context

(Frankly, if Hunter’s “full name” is just a little more roundabout -- like Hunter-of-Dark-Things, Hunter-of-Evil, etc -- you could maybe even make a case for him have been told the whole thing at some point)
