Ok so I just binged Netflix’s Fate The Winx Saga.

And honestly Im pleasantly surprised.

If you really watch the show without expecting it to be like the first 3 seasons from the original cartoon series, it really is a nice show. Of course the characters arent too complex and the dialogues arent mind blowing. But all in all it is entertaining, the special effects are visually appealing, it has interesting plot twists and the story itself has a lot of potential. Its a maturer version of the kids series (and seeing where the original winx cartoon is at right now) I feel like is refreshing to watch.

They did well with the setting and cast. Before I watched the show I was unsure if Abigail Cowen fitted the role of Bloom. But having watched it I can definitely say: she almost embodies her. Her eyes, face structure, hair, body language and acting is so fitting to Bloom and really made me look forward to seeing more stuff with Abigail as an actress.

The only bs things in my opinion were some aspects they messed up with Stella, Flora, Musa and Tecna. So Stella in this series is 99% every bad character trait ever and is nice for like 1% of the show. And that they gave her this stupid obsession with Sky and making her the obstacle between Bloom and Sky is just wtf. I dont know why. Secondly Flora doesnt appear in the series (fml cuz she always was my favorite as a kid), instead her cousin Terra is part of the squad. Musa isnt asian and also Tecna isnt existing somehow, so far at least.

Apart from these things I really enjoyed this new take on this universe. One might say the coloring of the scenes is too dark, but to me it is fitting considering the series wants to be „more serious“. I like the area they chose to film everything and specifically enjoyed all the forest scenes. Musa being a mind fairy instead of a music fairy was pretty interesting to watch. I also enjoyed Beatrix, a new character, and her fierceness very much aswell. I liked the details that they kept the same and there were definitely some nostalgic moments to enjoy. And sad moments for crying too

I could go on and on but overall:

I definitely recommend watching it. It also only has 6 episodes. I really hope it gets another like 3 seasons.

Try to watch it more like an own original with only the same basic ideas from the winx world.
