idk if this means anything but the promo image for nendoroid apollo's perceive effect sheet features him zeroing in on phoenix's hand. when you think abt it, phoenix in aa4 always keeps his hands in his pockets so if the promo image for the nendos DO mean something it's probably pointing to the fact that phoenix's tell/tic has something to do with his hands

Thinking about the whole "The sins of the father are the sins of the child" thing SoJ pushes so hard as to why Nahyuta was kicked out of the royal family. Nahyuta is terrified at the idea of the same stigma falling onto Rayfa, that he would be at the beck and call of Ga'ran. Not only does it show how much he wants to protect his sister, but also how difficult it must've been for him growing up and how it has to have affected him when he decided to return to the kingdom.

It made Nahyuta work so hard to regain his people's trust by turning himself into a truly model citizen with his religious and law work. He gets treated with the respect and love a prince deserves by everyone in Khura'in, even if no one ever mentions the disgraced royal status until the last chapter. The amount of pressure he probably had to endure all those years and that Ga'ran then used to her advantage...

But even if the people of Khura'in hated Dhurke so much, I can only imagine them initially giving Nahyuta the cold shoulder because he probably reminded them of Amara every time they saw him. And it was bitter and sad because he was Dhurke's son too, yet to them the queen lived through him.

2-4 really is the perfect setup for Phoenix's character because it forces him to choose between his two most important principles and his reasons for becoming a lawyer (protecting people he cares about VS not letting someone innocent be falsely accused with no one on their side) and then 6-5 looked at this and said "so they liked that maya got kidnapped right"

you know i think the thing that feels weird about dual destinies and spirit of justice compared to the rest of the series is the scale

i also personally feel Nahyuta's mental illnesses probably overall started as a child. Dhurke did his best to keep his kiddos happy i'm sure but i can't imagine that there wasn't a lot of trauma involved throughout Yuta's childhood, and no one really would have the education or tools to identify what Nahyuta was struggling with-- not to mention that Yuta strikes me as a deeply Internal person, somebody who doesn't want to talk about himself or show weakness, especially not to his dad, who also does. that exact same thing because of his own trauma n issues. Dhurke would never tell Yuta to keep that stuff to himself, but i think Yuta would get the feeling that he's supposed to just "man up" and deal with it because everyone else (ie, the Dragons, and Dhurke ofc) is tough and just Dealing with the horrible hands dealt their way (though inside everyone's breaking down, they just wanna be strong from the kids or strong for the cause, whatever, but i think when the kids aren't around, everyone is a lot more vulnerable)

not to mention i bet you Yuta's heard Dhurke say some flavor of "i'm a man, men can deal with it" or something to that effect and that stuck with him so, so much.

he wants to be tough. he wants to be good for Dhurke. but he's just hurting himself, and Dhurke is none the wiser, though sometimes the cracks start to show a bit throughout his life.
