Byun Baekhyun 변백현 🐶 Overview

Byun Baekhyun is a South Korean singer, songwriter and actor. He is a main vocalist in EXO, EXO-CBX, and the leader of South Korean supergroup SuperM. Baekhyun has been labeled as the "Genius Idol," and is regarded as having one of the best vocals in Kpop. His solo songs and individual albums have broken records across the world, and he has also participated in numerous acting projects and variety shows. He keeps fans entertained on his multiple social media platforms, has a very cute corgi, and is one of the only men to look good with a mullet. Please join me in celebrating EXO’s 🐶

This post is part of an effort to celebrate the accomplishments of EXO over the past 10 years and to provide tangible avenues for supporting these artists in 2022 (when they will likely be leaving SM Ent.) and beyond 🖤

Baekhyun began training to be a singer when he was 11 years old, influenced by South Korean singer Rain. In High School he was the lead singer in a band called Honsusangtae (lit. "coma") and won a local music festival. In addition to musical activities, Baekhyun trained as a martial artist in his youth and has a dan 3 black belt in Hapkido. 

His first solo song, titled "Beautiful" as the soundtrack for the EXO Next Door, became the first soundtrack single from a web drama to top digital charts. “Dream,” his collab with Miss A’s Suzy, won first place five times on music show programs, sold over 1.3 million copies, and debuted at number one on the Gaon chart. His collab with Soyou entitled “Rain” reached number one on every South Korean online music chart, an achievement known as "all-kill.”

His first solo mini-album, City Lights, sold over 500,000 copies in July 2019, breaking the Gaon Chart record for the highest monthly album sales by a solo artist. The second mini-album, Delight, garnered over 732,000 pre-orders, making it the most pre-ordered album by a soloist in South Korean history. On July 1st, it was announced that the album had sold more than 1,000,000 copies, making it the first solo album in South Korea to do so since Another Days in 2001. In 2021 his self-titled Japanese debut album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. In March that same year he released his third Korean mini-album, Bambi, which replaced Delight as the most pre-ordered album by a solo artist in South Korea at over 833.000 copies. It debuted atop the Gaon Album Chart and is Baekyun's second consecutive Korean-language album to have sold over 1 million copies.

Since May 6, 2021, Baekhyun has been enlisted in South Korea's mandatory military service as a public service worker. His expected discharge date is February 5th, 2023 and we eagerly look forward to both his return and to the amazing creative endeavors that are sure to follow!

19 reasons why I love Seo Changbin for his 19th birthday

1. his personality: changbin probably has one of the best personalities ever. not only is he very funny and can brighten the mood in a room with his remarks but he‘s also an honest guy who the members can count on when in need of opinions. he doesn’t shy away from voicing his thoughts through lyrics either. the members also described him as someone who is good to talk to. he helps people who he cares about like he did with felix when he first was a trainee in jyp and he worries for his friends, too like he does for chan. changbin shows so much love and affection for those he loves!

2. his rap: changbin probably is one of the best kpop rappers right now. his flow, pace, rhymes and pronounciation of words just are so unique and to be honest he‘s just on another level. he has so much character in his voice and can make a song so much better. his raps always are killing parts.

3. his visuals: it is clear that changbin doesn’t fit in the standard korean beauty definition which probably makes it harder for him (to gain korean fans and to be recognized). but no one should be able to deny that he is honestly so beautiful and handsome. his sharp features, beautiful eyes and overall charisma just make him such a visual. he looks very manly and his confidence just makes him even more attractive!!! we love a binsual!

4. his lyrics: as I mentioned earlier changbin is not afraid to voice his opinion through his lyrics. he always manages to express how and what he is feeling. sometimes it‘s like he‘s telling a story through his lyrics (esp. in 3racha) and it really makes you pay attention to his words. his lyrics are always so powerful and they touch on important subjects like his solo song IF does

5. his solo IF: honestly, if you haven‘t listened to it yet, do it! it describes the feeling of anxiety/ always feeling anxious and I don‘t know. I just love him for being able to show such a "weak" side of him because I think many people will be able to relate to his lyrics. For me, IF has such a huge importance and I just feel like he understands me as I can relate to his every word.

6. his variety skills: changbin is so skilled in variety. he always makes his members laugh and he loosens up the tension (sometimes he creates awkwardness, too but that comes with trying to be funny). he just is so funny and sometimes v shameless. his reactions also are perfect!

7. his height: his height is perfect and no one can tell me otherwise. once again fck beauty standards because his height is adorable.

8. his laugh: I mean have you heard his laugh??? it‘s just the most adorable thing on this world and he deserves all the laughs on this planet.

9. his love for his family: it‘s so obvious that he loves his family so much. I mean that one ep where he showed his home and his parents explains it all, he just seemed like a happy bean. also the fact that he never traveled bc he wanted to stay w/ his family is so adorable and warms my heart. his family seems to have such a big importance in his life.

10. his hair: it‘s just so beautiful and fluffy and when they curl it I die bc wow.

11. his confidence: I mean have you seen their performances?? also his lyrics: he literally brags about his arms and he just knows how much ppl love his rap and how good it is. he should be confidentx100000 because he has every reason to. (every person on this world should be confident!)

12. his aegyo: his aegyo can be very cringy and painful to watch but in the end it‘s always cute and puts a smile on my face :)

14. his singing: his singing just blows me away every time because he has just such a soft voice that is so beautiful. he has so much talent and honestly, he could‘ve also been a singer. truly an all-arounder!

15. his stage presence: changbin on stage is just overflowing charisma and confidence. he just draws one in and then one isn‘t able to take one‘s eyes off of him.

16. his dark concept: it just is the cutest thing ever because he is like one of the softest beans when not on stage. his "I love dark" will forever be iconic. binnie binnie changbinnie :)

17. his friendship with chan: they always room together and chan said he sees himself in changbin. it just feels like they are brothers. they match so well and seem to play a big role in each other‘s lifes. I just love their relation!

18. his style: changbin is the definition of hip-hop style with his bucket hats and black pants and big tees. in my opinion, changbin has such a good style and knows how to dress well!

19. his love for his fans: he just loves stay so much!! stray kids all do and we love them too!
