wouldn't be so bad if the setting wasn't also feeling more and more stale lol
#some of thats inevitable- as the audience gets used to the environment the less exciting it gets#but its also like. book 3 played the settings hand intrigue-wise WAY harder than anything since has been able to#after the heist of Yre all the worldbuilding from then on kinda feels tiny and dareisay boring.#...doesn't help that SD's empire is deliberately stratified and sanitized. which like is the point i wouldn't have it otherwise but STILL.#and then after all that we've just had an endless fight against One Singular Opponent and then literal purgatory#that introduced like. maybe a Yre Itself's worth of setting and backstory and character. but given how much book 3 also put into Devils in#general as well as building characterization for White Chain on the side iirc book 5 winds up feeling kinda fucking desolate.#ALSO STILL NOT HAVING *ANY* CLOSURE ON WC IS. UM. FUCK OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I'M NOT IN THE 'KILL ZAID' CAMP BUT CHRIST WHERES THE TRANSSE#TRANSEXXUALS ABBY?!?!???!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY QUEERS!??!?!
