Poptropica Island Ratings

okay I saw a post on here a while ago and someone rated the Poptropica islands. I remember agreeing with a lot of them, but they only went so far so a lot of the newer islands were missed out. I came across it again recently and got hit by a wave of nostalgia so I’m gonna do my own now. Unoriginal content very good. i’ll put a keep reading link to stop it from taking up too much space

Early Poptropica - mega nostalgia but kinda boring. I like the original Poptropicans being pixely and there is a goth gf in the sewers however the giant green spider scared the shit out of me as a kid and the idea of an aircraft graveyard made me sad so 6/10

Shark Tooth Island - also nostalgic but I didn’t complete it for a long time for some reason.. very short. it has a story but its there is nasty shark and people stuck on an island so make a calming potion. the medicine man looks like he is from viva pinata so 6/10

Time Tangled Island - VERY GOOD AND FUN AND HISTORICAL FUCK THAT AZTEC THO DICKHEAD. quite lengthy for an island but this is good because that means more time periods to explore. it’s also educational but i just care about restoring time. very legendary the iconic just jumped out - 10/10

24 Carrot Island - stupid pun point taken off. introduces Dr Hare and people are THIRSTY. you can dye your hair with milkshakes. i thought it was creepy as a kid honestly. i think its mind control or something. but i like it, it still has nostalgia value 8/10

Super Power Island - very legend like. i loooove the antagonists, especially copy cat but i think i had to look up a guide to beat her because i was dumb af. you need a licence to be a superhero but you are a superhero!!! very fun i like this one a lot 10/10

Spy Island - i remember sucking at this one as well as a kid.  i think it fucks with peoples hair and i only remember because my character looks fresh 100% of the time and this island fucked it up i think. i don't really remember it tho. 5/10

Nabooti Island - it’s based on a Choose Your Own Adventure book so good premise. go around the world is also good. you have to get jewels i think. ngl i didn’t finish this one because i sucked at it so i’m just going off the wiki and how far i got into it. fuck the animal puzzle 7/10

Big Nate Island - who the fuck is Big Nate. i only remember the school climbing frame and a stink bomb. fuck you big nate we don’t have your comics in England 1/10

Astro-Knights Island - medieval knights.... IN SPACE?!?! COUNT ME IN. crazy jester bard guy antagonist. people are thirsty for him too. i’m pretty sure you end up in another dimension or something. cyborgs and shit 9/10

Counterfeit Island - bruh i loved this island. pretty sure antagonist is also making people thirsty. you have to go back to Early Poptropica Island to complete it, very cool. investigating crime is cool idea it’s l.a. noire in poptropica. the wiki says there is a glitch called anti-social clown and i have to say relatable 9/10

Reality TV Island - i think i completed this like twice and i remember jackshit. you get to see past characters tho so very good. it’s just doing challenges. 4/10

Mythology Island - VERY GOOD. LEARN ABOUT MYTHOLOGY. you can fight hydra and other creatures, you meet Zeus you meet Hades, Aphrodite is a bitch. 9/10

Skullduggery Island - pirates are always good no matter what. apparently it is one of the hardest islands which explains why i never completed it but you fight other pirates and sea monsters for doubloons or some shit sounds cool to me 8/10

Steamworks Island - steampunk is good. i remember completing this and thinking it was interesting and weird to look at. i think the atmosphere is was lonely tho. there’s a boss battle against a plant i think. otherwise i don’t fuckin remember 7/10

Great Pumpkin Island - it’s Peanuts so it’s nice. very nice and simple. it’s just about the great pumpkin except you’re there. 6/10

Cryptids Island - GOD TIER. CRYPTIDS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA. some of it is scary tho. the jersey devil just fucking staring at you from the window was a shit the bed moment for a kids game. also before the islands got rebooted, it was one of the only islands to have sound effects, i.e. when the chupacabra bursts out the box. honestly because of the balls on this kids game to scare children and also being good island 10/10

Wild West Island - the only thing better than pirates is cowboys. i don’t really remember it but you do go against an outlaw gang. i like cowboys 10/10

Wimpy Wonderland Island - Jeff I know you made doawk and poptropica but did you have to show it. ngl i liked it because i like doawk. but it’s kinda... creatively bankrupt i guess. 3/10 2 points because Rodrick is there

Red Dragon Island - i think more time travel but just to old Japan. you have to save a girl. that’s all i remember. also i think there is a nasty samurai guy. but also evil dragon. i can’t remember because for the longest time this was a premium account only island so i never got to finish it for the longest time. that was a dick move 7/10 for that alone.

Shrink Ray Island - cool premise but this island expects me to learn morse code 3/10

Mystery Train Island - detectives? on a train? very nice. basically murder on the orient express except no murder and thomas edison is there and also various other 1700/1800 nerds

Game Show Island - basically Reality TV except it’s to save the world from robots. 5/10

Ghost Story Island - wow iconic. this is the only island with voice acting and it’s to fucking jumpscare you i shat myself.  ghost hunting, very cool 10/10

S.O.S Island - it’s basically Titanic mixed with Moby Dick. it’s ok 6/10

Vampire’s Curse Island - i reaaaally like this one. i like vampires. it has a vampire daddy in it so. he kidnaps a teenage girl tho because he thinks its the love of his life who is dead. kinda weird. he does stop being insane at the end tho and says sorry and dies. the girls bf is a dickhead tho. 9/10

Twisted Thicket Island - i think you’re saving a forest from becoming housing. i really like it because it introduces various folkloric creatures like the nokken. i only remember the nokken because i went on akinator to see if he knew what it was and i don’t think he did so i added it and it’s photo to his database. or maybe it was just his photo but i remember uploading something to akinator. 8/10

Poptropolis Games Island - i don’t think i liked this one 3/10

Wimpy Boardwalk Island - Jeff. 2/10 1 point added because Rodrick is also there

Lunar Colony Island - space is good. do i remember this island tho? no. i think theres aliens tho. 5/10 because i like space and aliens.

Super Villain Island - it brings back the most memorable villains like binary bard and black widow. you find out why they are evil. pretty chill 8/10

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Island - what do you expect 5/10

Zomberry Island - the last of us except i think people are just eating nasty berries really. i like it it’s spooky 7/10

Night Watch Island - Paul Blart Mall Cop 6/10

Back Lot Island - you make a film. i can’t remeber it like at all. 6/10 because it sounds ok

Poptropolis Games Island Part 2 - fuck off 2/10

Virus Hunter Island - i don’t think i completed this one either. however it is one of those inside the human body things which is always cool if cliche. 8/10

Mocktropica Island - very satirical what if about if poptropica was run by assholes. ironic since a bunch of islands were made premium only for a while. pretty sure the bonus missions still are too which is why i’m not mentioning them. funny tho 7/10

Monster Carnival Island - spooky yes. people thirst over the ringmaster raven guy too. theres a spooky clown on the ferris wheel. i don’t remember much other than i liked it because it was about monsters in a theme park. 9/10 i remember it was surprisingly short tho

Survival Island - castaway except it’s you. i don’t remember it either lmao. i got out of touch with old poptropica real bad by this time so my next ratings might be unfair sorry. pretty sure it also becomes the most dangerous game tho and some guy wants to actually fucking kill you. ballsy. 7/10 because it sounds ok i should maybe play it.

Mission Atlantis Island - i like atlantis but i didn’t play this one either. you see deepsea creatures which are spooky so extra points 8/10

PoptropiCon Island - poptropica’s answer to comicon. now i did play this one for some reason but i don’t remember it too well either. i was 14 when it came out so. sounds like yu-gi-oh so good. 7/10

Arabian Nights Island - didn’t play it i think it’s just telling the story. it’s a cool story so 7/10

Galactic Hotdogs Island - what the fuck 1/10

Mystery of The Map Island - vikings are cool. island seems very short tho. 5/10

Timmy Failure Island - who the fuck. this would be more impactful if i read these fucking things but i don’t. who the fuck are you timmy. i guess it’s called failure for a reason. (that was mean sorry) 1/10

Escape from Pelican Rock Island - prison break, nice idea. you have like a twin in this one. seems a bit repetitive sometimes tho. theres like 7 days of doing similar things. 6/10

Monkey Wrench Island - it was created to be the new tutorial, i.e. an actual tutorial rather than Early Poptropica. very fast and boring, especially if you already know everything. 2/10

Crisis Caverns Island - i know nothing about this. even the wiki is incomplete. maybe that means its shit then. 1/10 the wiki doesn’t even care too much about this one.

Greek Sea Odyssey - more ancient greece is always good. you get to beat the shit out of zeus this time 8/10

Snagglemast Island - all you do is collect coins. another tutorial one. 1/10.

bonus: home island. legit just a hub. points added because you can do a lot of customisation here and pick up a pet that doesn’t cost credits. 4/10

DOUBLE BONUS: the little haunted house mini thing. very good because spooky costumes, spooky house fun little monster party. 10/10

I finally caught up with the Saw franchise. Yay

Here are some thoughts on that, as well as my favorite trap from each movie, and my rating. How I choose to rate the franchise: LIVE or DIE. _____________________

Saw: When I first watched this years ago, it was not the first Saw movie I had seen. My first Saw movie was Saw II because it was on TV and I just ended up seeing it. So when I was younger I went to Saw 1 and was bored. Now as an adult I sat down and watched it and boy is it GOOD. its damn good. Weird editing which has aged but its easy to forgive. The weird “panic” film editing scenes werent needed but now it just feels normal to the franchise. i like at the end when the two main victims realize the game isnt just an isolated incident involving the two of them but more complex involving more people with their stories colliding. Amanda in the reverse bear trap was pretty iconic though... 

FAVORITE GAME: Reverse Bear Trap

Saw II: traps felt like minigames. Dat needle pit tho. The recap scenes get old real quick. I get it. I put the puzzle together. Amanda returns, doing pretty well. This was my first introduction to Saw so Im fond of this movie. Reminds me of the old days when the syfy channel was once “scifi” and had scary movies on a lot. John is awesome in this movie. I love the scene where he asks for a glass of water. Also memorable traps

FAVORITE GAME: tie between The Needle Pit and The Razor Box

Saw III: the traps were secondary to the plot. Why. But the traps were way more interesting and complex machines. Amanda gets annoying. I dont really like her, shes just gasping with wide eyes in every scene. I like the traps in this one but I feel like this is where the series took a turn with the traps, instead of a player being IN their own trap, they now have to decide the fate of other people trapped because of the player. TBH I feel like this was bad for the series and made a huge impact on the rest of the movies. I remember when I was younger thinking the pig guts drowning scene was stupid and wacky, but now watching it again its pretty intense. I liked this movie and i liked the traps despite it setting up failure for the franchise. Also John dies WAY TOO SOON to allow a handful of movies to continue.

Saw IV: John Kramer dick and balls for the world to see. THANKS. Bad cg blood. Not sure where the budget went. Weird scene transitioning, weird over the top traps, to the point of being unbelievable. no one is going to build a head crushing machine with two massive slabs of ice, its way too big, too complicated, and too stupid. Every white guy in this movie looks the same, its hard to tell characters apart, i get lost with the timelines and story. 

FAVORITE GAME: The Knife Chair

Saw V: boring, with stupid traps, and dusty gray characters. If people would stop screaming, they could easy make it out alive. Also the gore in this movie is just for gore. they didnt need it, and characters could have easily avoided it but its Saw so you gotta have the gore in there.. somewhere..

Saw VI: "RIGHT NOW YOU’RE FEELING HELPLESS"  ... Such a cool scene.. Okay this movie was much better than Saw 5. the traps are getting bigger which is dumb and the traps are killing everyone BUT the player which is dumb, but this movie is entertaining and its brutal. Also.. Amanda redemption? Maybe she’s not so annoying? Also why they keep editing Jill’s eyebags? Stop trying to make her young and sexy, let her age like a human god damn.

Saw VII the final chapter: pandering af. It felt like the writers were thinking “hmm what do our young dumb audience want to see get killed.. hmm.. cheaters?.. dumb sluts? racists? yeah thats good enough.” Dumb reasons. Dumb dumb. John would never, he has more thought into his players.. they pissed all over the character and made it just so dumb i offended on behalf of John Kramer, you all should be in a game and realize you suck balls.. This is all so against the entire purpose of Saw, also bad acting, stupid tropes, weird sound editing, every victim except one was a female just sitting there screaming and then dying so yeah. The only good thing about this movie is the ending, which ties in all the movies and has a nice victory lap for the fans. I really appreciate that. I sat through every movie, give me some fanservice. RIP Chester Bennington.

FAVORITE GAME: Reverse Bear Trap (yes, again. the only good trap in this movie)

Jigsaw: too humorous. But much better than saw 7. The filming felt more tight as well. An overall better movie even though the timeline if fucked. I mean its been fucked for a while so im not really mad. I expect no less. The traps felt odd. But still a fun time. This movie is lacking something in all the Saw movies idk what it is. There’s something about Jigsaw that is more sterile than the Saw franchise. I feel like the only thing dirty about Jigsaw is the blood. It felt clean. Also wHY does Saw have LASERS????

FAVORITE GAME: Backwards Shotgun (I cant find trap names on the fan wiki)

What i like about the series: john kramer real OG. Traps are cool af (though they get wackier and wackier), the classic Saw theme music plays at the end with a 5 minute recap with weird editing followed by the signature “Game Over”. Hated it at first, but i took the stick out my ass and i enjoy it. 

What i dont like: every character who isnt John (after movie 1) is kind of empty and shouldnt be on screen as long as they are. John’s wife was so uncooperative the ENTIRE time she pissed me off. also for the love of god i cant keep up with the fucked up timeline and please get actors who dont look the same. _________________ No one’s above the SAW! 1 – Ring

3 – Bait

Once upon a time there was this gorgeous rose in the garden. I smelt her heady scent first, taking deep intoxicating breaths. Ok today I won’t talk about bad feelings – even tho it would be soooo easy.

Patterns. I love them, I look for them, they makes me feel safe. When I understand and predict, my Capricorn mind can finally relax. This is why I love astrology: with their chart I can have an approach on people, an insight in their mechanisms and anticipate their reactions, and so behave accordingly. I feel like I can be a better person with them – while knowing that like all beliefs I can also be wrong and do bad stuffs. But I least I know it, and I try my best eh.

11 – Snow

Christmas yeah, holidays why not, but THIS, this is the reason why I’m waiting for winter with so much excitement! To open the stores and see everything so white, so pure, so pristine; to feel like a child again, far away from the muddy wars and the melting ices; just to breath a little and feel at peace one more time.

Being invaded by the Nature… picture it. No more power to charge up our phones, no more wi-fi to connect to others, no more anything just the primal green like millenniums ago. This is what could happen if we lose the fight against the Earth that will take place during the next decade. But what does it have to be a fight? 23 – Ancient

I think a lot about my grandma, how old she has become these last years, how sick, how less capable to live alone, and how alone. I know I should call her more often, I know I know I know; but I feel bad when I call, when she forgets her train of thoughts, when sometimes can’t even say my name. I remember these nights when she was dancing at the balls, when we used to play card games and domino, I still can hear her laugh. Why time had to run that fast?

24 – Dizzy

Weed, poppers, ecstasy, cocaine, or just this glass of wine before going to bed. I’d take anything to be just a little bit less myself. Sometimes I can’t stop hating who I was, hating who I am, hating who I could be but I’m not – I could change, but I’m lazy. Drugs are so much easier to take, they love my denial, they find home in my body, and I love them back for how they make me feel. I know I’ll cry tomorrow for each smile they offer me this night, but who cares of tomorrow?

25 – Tasty

You know I look good, but I taste ever better. My lips are always sugar-flavored, with this nice candy package hidden in my pockets. Sometimes I suck a lollipop, sometimes I chew a piece of flesh. Kiss me, lick me, bite me, and you’ll admit the sweetest truth: my name is not Flöra Délice for nothing.

26 – Dark

We all have a darker side and in our manichean world it’s in the darkness we can find the light, in the wrong we can learn to be right, after the lies we can accept the truth bla bla bla fuck you and fuck your binarity: embrace all the shades of yourself, open up to the nuances of humanity, deconstruct your black-and-white world where we’re all moving colors. There is no god or bad people, there are just people trying to do what they think it’s the best for the others or for themselves.

27 – Coat

A second skin up to my nails. A jacket I can put on whenever I want just because I can. The extra colors I need to feel myself.

28 – Ride

You’re like a roller-coaster: there’s some ups, there’s some downs, always moving and always fast; you make me worry before, you make me scream during, you make me breathless after; but I have to admit I always feel good adrenaline when I’m with you, and I lack your energy when you leave. In the end, it’s true what it’s said: the rush is worth the ride.

29 – Injured

Today my right leg is still hurting. Long story short I drank too much and danced more than usual – my body wasn’t ready. Nothing really bad I hope, but I’m still concerned as usual. I just hope I’ll be fine for Halloween, because missing a party because of a party is not my aesthetics. Not at all.

30 – Catch

Tomorrow, I’ll be yours and you’ll be mine. That’s all I’ll be saying, but how knows to how many people? I mean it’s gonna be the Halloween party, there’s gonna be a lot of monsters, and I’m gonna suck catch ‘em all!

31 – Ripe

Everything that starts has already ended.

The day has come. It is today that all rises to its end. The finish line, the last moments. Will we stay together tomorrow? I always wonder “what will be tomorrow? will it ever come?”, because I fear what’s coming, I fear these times of the year. But tomorrow is somewhere somewhere else, and it’s today that has to count, so let’s make the best it. Let’s be together.
