Hey! I saw this theory pop up a few times, so I was wondering if you had any thoughts on "Lucien is Mathieu's father"? Personally I don't think it makes sense but what do you think? (Also sorry if you don't accept these asks anymore, your just, like, the only person who'll ever talk about Mathieu lol)

Yo i dont mind asks on this stuff of course! The only issue lies on my end with like. not remembering a word about TES lore anymore except for some stuff specifically on mathieu but like. you get me

this got a lil long so i put it under read more. tl;dr i dont believe it and i think canon goes directly against the theory, BUT its super fun so why the hell not?? lets have a looksee 

As i said I think its an interesting theory honestly! and I dont think its supported by canon (as far as i remember) apart from one line “there's someplace I need to start and that's with father's beating heart and when that's done I'll sing and dance to celebrate a dead LaChance” which more than likely means ill start with father and then that will get me to lucien and its said this way bc its hard to get shit to rhyme but at the same time......... there is Absolutely a lack of a time in between father being killed n lucien dying in the poem. It also seems to directly compare the two as if ones death directly causes the others death, and with a lack of time in between it...... yeah it implies theyre the same person. absolutely

also, in his diary “Oh yes, and I have something special planned for Lachance himself” comes before the poem where he says the above quote so it could be an elaboration (the something special is taking his heart), and it could be referred to as a starting place because he intends to kill the night mother, not just lucien, and he has to start with lucien

Not to mention it would explain how mathieu knew who lucien was. He refers to the one doing the act of killing as “the hooded man in Sithis' name” and “the dark man” so one could argue its not lucien that did the killing. Also “my daddy's hands are red with guilt” could be seen as the definitive act of pinning the guilt on lucien, if he is that father mentioned

...........but tbh, im pretty sure the death of the father was how mathieu got into the brotherhood in the first place, since you need to kill someone to attract their attention in oblivion (i mean its mentioned in game, but also mathieu is compared to the player character so i would imagine they both got in the same way through killing one person). We also know on the topic of knowing lu’s name from his journal that “father prayed and guess who came” basically. either lucien introduced himself to the father and mathieu oversaw/heard hence how mathieu knows about the praying, or when lu came to his mother he explained the situation or at least mentioned it to her and math overheard then? Just saying, but mathieu seeing his father, mentioning it to his mother and the two of them having to lie in wait over it, lucien arriving, the two of them knowing whats happening, and then his mother telling him to hide? that makes sense. May not be what happened, bc in the poem he tells his mother that he was lying under the bed, but he could just be recounting what happened in the journal.

It wouldnt really work bc if lucien was mathieus father, he’d know how much math’s mother meant to him and it would be extremely suspicious if mathieu turned around and was like hey! shes gone now im going to become an assassin like dad who killed her! ya know? but tbh i get the impression w lucien not that hes careless? but if his child was like “hey i wanna be like you dad!” hed be kinda like “oh shit! Yeah kid!” in a way. you feel?

HOWever. I actually really like it. Its a fun little theory?? Honestly holy shit if you wanna think of lucien as mathieus dad??? So much power to you. You do that. For real. that one line in the poem may only be one line However most of what we know about mathieu comes from that journal. Most of what I know about mathieu came from going through it line by line, word by word (ah, those were the good times), so its a very powerful part of mathieu’s lore!

I finished the elementary novel The Ghost Line. so without further adieu ( and w/o major spoilers) ( @ledochas, @addictedtobeinghimself and @holmescouture because i think y’all might enjoy)

hiGHLIGHTS

so like a cta driver got murdered. right and he’s killed in a completely locked room???? (this is quickly solved btdubs anyway) and then it becomes related to something else. but you know spoilers.

- so a huge chunk of this novel takes place in the sewers so sherlock wants to investigate so he calls up Bell to join him and literally tells him nothing about it whatsoever other than to wear something waterproof so Bell is just like fine and has to cancel on his friend. 

- “of course he could ring holmes, but he knew it was no good, even if holmes answered. one thing the consultant was good at guilt tripping. anything less than total commitment t the task at hand was met with withering sarcasm and disappointment that holmes was not afraid to show”

- and bell is like  ‘i have no choice so i guessss’

- sherlock actually says “the queen wears these, you know?” when he offers wellington boots to bell

- he also almost changes his opinion on the NYPD which i can only guess is fairly low which is like #rude to bell

- meanwhile gregson and joan are going to a gala at the new york natural history muesum and she has like the stair case moment with sherlock, gregson and bell.

- ~reactions~

- gregson like straightens his jacket and bowtie, and like i wish there was more said about bell because bell/watson is beautiful but all it says is “his eyes widened” which is lacking and i’m upset

- sherlock is like mmmm you could have done like better ( “adequate watson” uM RUDE ) which ruins the whole mood of her staircase moment

- “apparently you’ve been reading those magazine again” and then cites the actual list that he’s referring to and so it’s probably canon that sherlock at least glances over women’s fashion magazines

- gregson calls joan beautiful and sherlock a sourpuss in the same breath which is wonderful

- and then there’s a lot of case work and interviews and deductions and plot moving forward and an entire trek through the sewers of new york

- also aLFREDO IS HERE AND I ALMOST FORGOT HOW MUCH I NEED HIM IN MORE EPISODES

- he loves a restaurant all bad belly burger and it’s super close to work space and it’s like maybe a ~problem~ because he’s into the food a lot

- in particular an extra thick, white chocolate, mocha, banana, and curry milkshake

- it’s “off.the.charts.”

- also “alfredo, you are going to get a bad belly yourself if you keep this up”

- he also was listening to will.i.am

- holmes broke into the car that alfredo was working on. apparently in the time he took to get food, holmes has been in the car for like half an hour. just ~chillin’~ 

- he calls the inside of the car a womb 

- “and while i know far better than to admit this to a fellow addict, i must admit to finding the new ca smell to be quite... alluring.”

- alfredo is literally willing to break the law. the same law that he went to jail for. to help save joan watson.

- like honestly same. i would definitely break the law to save joan watson.

- holmes tells alfredo to his face that he is lucky to have him in his life and honestly i just wanT TO DIE

- “alfredo didn’t like it when holmes didn’t talk. when holmes didn’t talk, things were bad, bad, bad.” 

- holmes calls him a maestro. that he has a mind that renaissance geniuses would be proud of. if twitter existed in the 15th century like oh my god???

- alfredo keeps calling holmes is friend. he also refuses to abandon him in the museum when they’re trying to find watson. 

- alfredo also calls him optimus in a tranformers reference. 

- “holmes could take on the devil himself and come out on top” is a thing alfredo actually thinks. 

- i mean he’s technically right because like jamie moriarty was a thing.

- sherlock: “do you trust me?”   alfredo: “you know it”

- honestly i might cry??

- “yes, he trusted holmes. trusted him till the end.”

- never mind i’m crying

- fucking alfredo WHY AREN’T YOU IN THE CURRENT SEASON I’M STILL UPSET

- watson is trapped in a fucking store room closet and actually thinks WWSHD aka what would sherlock holmes do??? 

- her answer is immediate. it’s the same thing she would do and this beautiful partnership actually added 10 years to my life

- sherlock holmes has no chill or ability to not think super high of himself

- she does this because he’s been keeping soil samples in the spice rack which watson has been using to season ACTUAL FOOD. she doesn’t realize until they’re at the cta driver’s murder scene and he thinks that watson has been eating them in order to tell the difference in soils

- i wanted to just die

- “the mighty sherlock holmes admitting that a support group will do him good? i’m going to tell alfredo you said that”

- sherlock basically saying noooo it’ll ruin my cred, my reputationnnnn. noooo.

- but like he says it in a ~fancy~ way
