On the way back home yesterday we stopped at a massive plant and garden center. We found some houses built to attract bats. They look like standard bird houses. The bat houses are affixed to a wall or tree. Bats are very efficient at eliminating mosquitoes. We have a very bad problem with mosquitoes since we live in the Dordogne River Valley. We like the idea of housing bats who will make a feast in the garden of the mosquitoes….probably Rafa will hunt the bats as the Shibu is bred for hunting. Rafa goes crazy over cats and pigeons on our walks. I can only imagine her curiosity regarding the bat houses. They will be affixed very high in the tree. No bats allowed as Rafa’s prey.

Balancing the ecosystem is difficult and much more than slogans and political correctness.

the photos document the fact that these christmas decorations existed and were being sold on Saturday 29/10/2022 @ 17h45 in Bergerac France @ KLO

the KLO in Bergerac is permanently shutting down… 40% mark down with even more price reductions to come before the end of November

this store sits on the outermost part of the town…the parking lot is a vast terrain of dust & sinkholes…no one bothers with parking protocols…walking to the front door requires fortitude because the people backing out of the parking lot really don’t care

once you reach the entrance you are greeted by 2 massive beyond belief plastic pots in a bizarre 80s fuchsia color…both pots are full off cigarette butts and burnt 🔥plastic stuff/whatever…maybe the kids burn 🔥 plastic stuff/whatever while smoking…both palm trees in said pots are dead

inside the KLO it is full of shit and treasure. Antoni left with bounty and saved 30€…he earmarked, in his mind, more treasures to be procured when the prices become more interesting

too bad about the exterior dumpster look…KLO is cool and will be missed

Yesterday 28/nov/2022 @ around 15h05 this photo documents an aluminum display stand with buckets of fake plants in KLO Bergerac…the colors are amazing…the reflections of light and colors on the aluminium surfaces are excellent

i am exhausted with plants dying all the time…it’s very depressing…of course some live…our garden pot survival ratio is about 1/3 lived and 2/3 are dead…half the lawn is yellow tufts and bare earth…very depressing statistics…i was later toying with the idea of all fake plants on the balcony this summer

i am politically aligned with real plants for planetary eco-survival…however, I have no instincts for nurturing them if the truth be known

which is all such a bullshit 

eco-survival of the planet is going to require more than passive political alignments and eschewing fake plants….people like me are going to actually have to get up off our collective butts and learn how to tend our gardens for this planetary eco-system to survive

i’m glad i didn’t buy the fake plants in KLO at 70% off

many restaurants have become mediocre for taste and quality

the best food is at home and why bother with someone else’s menu…people here know and prefer excellent food

Antoni’s tomato and vinaigrette salad picked fresh from the garden far surpasses the boring, tasteless industrial food now offered in most restaurants

if I can ever afford stratospheric French haute cuisine again I’ll will try to book a table
