smth smth tails and sonic came back 2 the resistance in forces and amy was a very different person than she was when they’d known her last

#obviously her base personality remains but like #she became more utilitarian she became more capable of switching between 'amy' and 'soldier' at the drop of a hat #she can be so much colder #this person who would have cried at having to abandon anyone is suddenly sentencing settlements to die without so much as flinching #like...what happened to you amy? (knuckles vc None Of This Is Good Thats Why Its Called War)#i have thoughts abt how this links 2 frontiers and amys refusal to be utilitarian and getting mad at sonic when he suggests they leave the #koco being a coping mechanism / her desire to not have 2 be that kind of utilitarian again

There's a long moment of silence at his words, almost as if she's trying to figure out exactly what he means. She's never met him before - she spends most of her time on the island, and he certainly isn't anyone she remembers from her time serving the Empire. She's since cut herself off from that database, so any new events haven't reached her. He is.. off putting, however. It isn't the slightly wary demeanor he has, it's more in the rapt interest lurking just beneath it. It's familiar; and not in a way she enjoys.
