So, I decided to make some fan art, then it turned into this little joke. Note: 1. yes I know Amy makes a cameo but she's not a playable character, so this is just Nack/Fang sorta rubbing it in. At work doodling concept designs of the typical items you'd find in a sonic game. Relatively the same except for the animal capsule. I would rather it be destroyed like an enemey badnik would be rather than trying to land on a small button at the top. This also keeps the flow of the game from slowing down too much. Yes, there should and will be platforming but the platform elements should exclude items and enemeies. The items should be a reward for traversing platforming elements. Break the capsule, free the animals and keep moving. Atleast, that what i think. Another animation concept. I may not make a lot of freinds saying this, but Sonics trademark figure 8 animation always bugged me. When someone runs, their feet make contact with the ground and remain in contact until the lift behind them. Now i understand he is a cartoon character and logic should should not play a role, but it never made sense to me. So i took it and redesigned the way it looked. I tried to add a lot perspective to the ribbon but i don't want to spend too much time on it since it will look more accurate in 3d....and it already midnight and i have to be up in 5 hrs. Something i loved sonic 3 & knuckles for was the sort of trasitions between acts and zones. I want to take that to a new level, attempting a completely seamless experience. Imagine beating an eggman boss, Sonic poses for the result screen, small cut scene happens, and then straight to gameplay in the next zone with NO FADE TO BLACK! I feel like that would make the adventure feel more connected. Firstly, thanks to those who gave out their 2 cents on sonics concept for the fangame i want to develop. So this is the design i want to roll with. I was afraid of the longer quills but i think it will add expression to his animations. They can stick out when sonic is surprised or angry. They can have more movement as the wind runs through his hair at high speeds. His body & limbs are a bit longer than his classic design for easier recognition of his movements in 3d space but at the sametime, reigned in keeping him short in stature so he can believably roll into a ball. I think its a nice merge of classic and modern sonic designs to make....sonic the hedgehog. No longer classic sonic or modern sonic....just one Sonic the Hedgehog. Again, thank you all for the input. He may see a few more changes in the 3d modeling process but this is the general concept i want to model off of.
