HEYO! For the fandom ask! Either BG or Fallout!

hell yeah!! okay disclaimer... i've only played bg3. and i need to replay fallouts plural-- so i'm a bit rusty on that front.

bg3:

1. The first character I first fell in love with

i saw a clip of astarion's meltdown after being exploded at rosymorn... i was absolutely Enchanted by his screeching so i bought the game.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now

the conglomerate of tiefling babies you meet at the grove and follow throughout the game. that funky little gaggle owns my heart. mattis swindling your sorry ass. silfy crying!!! mirkon writing you a fucking story?! ide? umi?! DONI?! precious queen mol!?!?

i wish tav could invite them to live at camp. the children need to be housed, dammit!!

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t

okay... i might have to go into hiding after this... but... halsin? it's not that i don't like him. i do. but i like him most when orin is posing as him... whew. my love for gale probably makes this hypocritical*-- he just comes on too heavy, like bro i've never once hinted at flirting with you 🥲 i'msosorrytothehalsinstans

*without a doubt i have chosen the flirty dialog with gale, so jot that down

4. The character I love that everyone else hates

trying to rack my brain-- i stay on the fringes of fandom nowadays, so i don't really know this stuff-- UHH he's an asshole but i really enjoy ketheric as a character? his whole backstory with the curse. the battle with him and myrkul is always a good time. and myrkul looks fucking sick. so does ketheric's armor. necromancy. ✨

(but please rot forever for hurting isobel and aylin)

oh and ORIN... since apparently people don't like her. i support women's rights and wrongs.

5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer

honestly? i don't have one. i feel like my brain has the faves on rotation. but nothing's changed much.

6. The character I would totally smooch

gale or wyllym. unless we're talking domesticated astarion... in that case, well

7. The character I’d want to be like

probably jaheira or karlach.

jaheira with her wit and wisdom. when i get older, or even now, i'd like to be that person. come here sweet babies, let this old lady learn you something.

karlach because she's so excited for life. she has no reservations about who she is. i want to be that jazzed about life and not care what other people think, even if it ruffles feathers.

8. The character I’d slap

mizora. a good openhanded slap.

9. A pairing that I love

i'm gonna list so many... astarion/gale, wyll/karlach, shart/lae'zel, karlach/gale, jaheira/minsc, aylin/isobel, astarion/karlach, alfira/lakrissa, karlach/dammon, wyll/astarion, and now that i thought about rolan/gale it's a real neat concept...

i always thought that halsin and art would be cute.... but.... sad.

i'd like to put each character and minthara under a microscope if that counts for anything.

10. A pairing that I despise

idk, man. you do you... but if i have to say one, mystra/gale. she groomed him. she's gross. in this house we hate mystra.

I've been digging through my drafts and found this quote, I initially rewrote it down to apply to Khal'ian and Issal's friendship/found family . (Sorry that haven't sent anything concrete on Issal yet)

But I realized these could be applied to a number of characters in BG3. The first that comes to mind is Karlach/Tav, due the infernal engine and the pre-update endings.

How would you apply the quote? Romantic or non-romantic? Do you have any quotes in mind that you like to apply to any relationships off the top of your head?

That quote really hits deep, it reminds me of the "it's rotten work" one, and the "don't borrow grief from tomorrow" one.

It feels like more than romantic or platonic love, it feels like unconditional love, utter devotion. Two souls born from the same star kind of love.

I also really like how it makes you face the fleeting life, how to love you must be prepared to be hurt. Yet you still chose to love knowing there's pain waiting at the end of the world, you will still choose to love each and every single time.

It's the whole absurdism and nihilism debate of why do anything at all? Why live when you'll die? Why sleep when you'll wake up? Why love when you'll be left? Because you can, because you want to and because love is what makes being alive worth being alive.

Unconditional love in all of its forms, Eros, Ludus, Storge, Mania, Pragma, and Agape. Love of love itself makes life worth living, makes a cake worth eating and makes a fleeting person worth cherishing.

I'm not one to ship in bg3, but I think Karlach/Astarion fit that quote the best. An immortal and a quickly dying mortal. Two curses of the same type yet different lengths.

Even in the most evil and vile of places you'll find love, look at Ketheric for example, his whole legacy, the good and the bad, is a product of utter love.

Orin truly loved murder, Orin genuinely saw art and beauty in what others deemed disgusting. Orin did the impossible by loving what was deemed forever unlovable.

Gortash loved himself when none else could, valued his own life when his own parents sold him. Gortash love for himself speaks volumes in how he's ready to put the entire world under his feet as a gift for himself, because he deserves love too.
