Helloo i want to talk abt the development process about this so heres my rambling below vv

I've been itching to play with blender and tweening for years, but it was just too intimidating to try out. my biggest recommendation is to start small with what you're trying to do and slowly build up from there. ergo: small ass attempts to see if this was even POSSIBLE for me to wrap my head around so made my first test

Very silly headbop animation akin to an edgy animation meme circa 2016. Very fun to do. The whole processes was done through shapekeys in this tab here.

It basically creates a "set" position for your object and then when you manipulate it, like say moving it up, it'll create process that moves the image to and from that position with the "Value" setting. Then you can create keyframes in your animation for the process to complete at a certain point in the animation timeline. And the reason why the "hands" are so much choppier is because you can change the tweening type from smoother transitions to flipping through the frames as they're set. Sorry if this is incomprehensible it took me so many tutorials to understand.

Drew all the files in CSP in separate layers before exporting them on individual pngs. same process throughout development. (with the exception of the details on the boarder.)

SO. i could at LEAST do the basics of tweening, and exporting objects in a coherent way. Now to try a thumbnail drawing for the BIG drawing above, because just because I could make smth jank doesnt mean i could do a whole coherent set.

Test 2! Very rough idea of the big image below. Once again everything here was made via csp, and exported. This was when my friend suggested using the grease pencil in blender which i DID end up using in the final product for a part of the drawing. Still messing with the basics here but it was fun to make the stars glow and play with the lighting settings. The shadow resolution is so high here but my computer could handle it bc of how little parts there were.

I did also try to export the files as one big PNG and chop them up but I couldn't figure it out.

So i went with exporting everything as different PNGS. Which did create an issue with importing? Nothing was exactly to "scale" but it was an easy enough fix.

So with that all handled there was enough confidence to go onto ACTUALLY creating the drawing fully. This part will have more artsy wips than not bc I actually had to Draw. and make so many layers.

So my first instinct was to block out the shapes and color code by how things would be layered. The lighter a shape the closer itd be to the camera via layering

Building up the stage + figuring out colors and the ground. eri did infact have a face considered but i thought they looked cooler without one.

The reason why the star is glowing is bc it has emission on in the shading view! I dont get nodes at ALL and im too scared to try but it looks cool!

I remember trying to add translucence to Eri's sleeves

But ultimately the set up went well! Took a long while to get the animations sorted out (esp bc i switched em up like. half way thru and had to redo/change it up). It was fun to try and get timing right! I believe i wanted to add a squash n stretch effect to Eri's hair, but it looked a bit strange. Would like to try it again at some point.

ANYYWAYY with the GREASE pencil effect

This bit took. a minute. for me to figure out. Getting the symmetry effect to work as well as using a lineart/fill brush. Among MANY tutorials this one was my best friend . Really recommend it if you're interesting in 2d blender stuff.

The effects used was Glow, Shadow, and Rim! Rim being the thing that gave it it's texture. Which. isnt what its typically used for? but it worked anyway!

but heres it without that stuff. strange.

For the Modifiers I used Mirror (symmetry tool) and Noise (which is what gave its shake effect in the video!)

yeag. If you turn up the position slider it uhhh

does that! Very careful balance between clipping layers and such.

This was pretty much it though! Or at least what comes to mind. It was very taxing but very rewarding. I think i got this done in like... 2.5..? or 3.5 days. From the start of the eri color blocking to this. Faster than my other drawings but lord. so many tutorials. rant over

my art process: a simple(ish) guide to how i (kinda) do things

okay!! so, i said i was gonna post my art process after i finished doing the danny phantom piece so... here it is! the drawing i used for a step by step process explanation is actually... simpler? less clunky than how i usually do things. i must preface this entire post by saying that i am fully self-taught for anything to do with art so if there are some things here that are exceeding no-nos... very sorry OOPS

The drawing took an estimated 4 hours total and for software I used FireAlpaca. My tablet is One by Wacom (aka the tiny ass red one). Without further ado... here’s my narrated guide on how i kind of do art!

1. Sketch Layers

sketches, are ofc, one of the fundamental steps in art. Some artists do them differently, whether they do color blocking/splotches first or silhouettes or your standard messy-lineart-before-the-actual-lineart

i personally do 2-3 different lineart/sketch layers, each layer specializing in different aspects. i took this technique from julia lepetit, a host from the drawfee show--a channel that i really recommend watching if youre an artist, like art, or just generally like having fun background noise while you work on something because... untreated adhd lol

this is the first sketch layer! i color coded them for reference and i use the yellow sketch layer to figure out poses. i use this gesture sketch layer to figure out where i want limbs to go and how i want the body to twist.

after i figure out the posing, i move on to my second sketch layer. the green layer is my refined sketch layer where i figure out the form and anatomy of the sketch. this is also where i start planning how expressions, special costume bits, and hands work!!

the red layer is my last and final sketch layer. technically, the red layer sometimes also doubles as my final lineart! the reason why i do this final step instead of doing the final lineart simply is so i can work on details of the costume. i end up refining certain portions, or even stretching/free transforming the whole body. 

The red helps with the refinement of the drawing bc the ink being a color that isnt black kinda,,,, tricks my brain into not believing that its all permanent. its easier for me to go back and erase/change some parts when my brain doesnt think that everythings final. when im finished, i simply go back and change the color of the lineart to black with the protect alpha function.

this is how the final lineart looks! be sure to close the lineart (aka make sure that everythings connected) so that the bucket tool can work and make your life 2000% easier. 

2. Coloring

my coloring process is kind of... a mess LMAO its super dependent on how i feel like coloring on that day, but this is the usual method i use when im not thinking too much about it.

first are the flats! i use the magic wand tool to select all the areas around the lineart and reverse the selection so that all the areas inside your lineart is selected. color it with a base color, turn on protect alpha, and begin chunking in all the colors.

all of the flats excluding the pupils, background, ectoplasm rings, and danny phantom logo are on one layer. once that is done, we move on to shading!

for shading, i use a combination of the normal pen tool and the airbrush tool to smooth out the edges of the cell shading. since all the flats are on one layer, i simply set this one to clipping mask so that i dont have to worry about coloring within the lines. I only use one color really for shading (here, i used purple) and then protect alpha and add splotches of other colors (pink, orange) in relevant areas.

once i finish doing that, i set the layer to multiply and adjust the opacity so that it looks softer and more attuned to the colors of the actual piece

its at this point that i fiddle with the hue/saturation/brightness settings on the flat color layers to my taste, seeing what works and what doesnt.

i then lightly go over the piece with a bright color (very very very light cyan) and put focus on the areas i think should glow like his freckles, eyes, and ectoplasm rings from where he’s coming out of a wall.

i rlly rlly love layer effects, so i set that one to add and again adjust the opacity to how i want it to look. 

3. Finishing Touches

...yeah i know it looks like a hot mess but hear me out.

on a new layer, make a CRAP TON OF GEOMETRIC SHAPES. ALL OF THEM IN NEON OR PASTEL. i get comments about my coloring methods sometimes and honestly im pretty sure its all due to this step. i make all these goddamn weird shapes, colored according to levels of lighting (yellow in lighter areas, turquoise in areas affected by the glow, purple in shaded areas etc. etc.) and also clip this layer. 

i then set the layer effect to either hue, overlay, or add and set its opacity really low to make it unobvious and cleaner to look at. this is a method that i learned from tumblr user zephyrine-gale who is... exceedingly talented and pulls this off way better than i can WKSDJSKKS

after that... ur basically done!! i add a few more layers like the noise layer for extra texture and sometimes some very light gradients (usually yellow to purple bc of something something color theory)--but after that, the piece is basically finished!

but due to me having at least over a thousand characters I’ll just give a quick summary of the 25 I manage to dig up over 3 sketchbooks.

Y’all can pick and choose which of them interest yall or who you wanna hear more about!

Also because I’m extra, I made sketch icons for the 25 characters, info under the cut

I’ll talk a bit more about my actual Original Characters first, starting with

Aiko! Otherwise known as Echo

- A marked individual in a steampunk world that gets mixed with magic, because I like both of those things

- Echo runs an underground lab that does helps the underground world with replacing body parts, illegal surgeries etc etc

- Even though she marked, which puts a bounty on her head already, she is well respected by the community for not cheating for your money, stealing your cash, or shanking/killing you mid-surgery

- however, Echo does long for adventure and sometimes do get bored in the lab

oh yeah,, Echo like stealing eyeballs, so if you’re low on cash and wouldn’t mind losing an eye, you know who to call!!

Bonus:

Here’s Echo’s boring, undeveloped sidekick!! I don’t like her and I don’t know how to make her better. Yes, she doesn’t have a name.

here’s my god playboy that left “heaven” due to having an early mid-life crisis, I call him God boi cause;

- He goes by many names! 

tbh, he’s probably the closest character I have to being genderfluid/-neutral? I’m not sure,,

- The god has many powers, from lightning to shapeshifting

- The shapeshifting part allows him to change every part of himself, allowing him to change depending on his situation.

- God boyo, or originally Aristide, is obsessed with the idea of perfection. A god should be perfect, if a god is out of line, he is no god. 

- Same goes for him, which means whenever something is wrong with him, it affects him, extremely

However, leaving the land of gods to live among humans aren’t all perks

- Aris isn’t immune to diseases or injuries. In fact, he actually fell down and died on impact when he came to earth, being reborn into another child immediately.

- He doesn’t gain his memories back automatically tho!! He has to have a major shock to the brain in order for him to remember his previous lives

- Sometimes the shock isn’t enough either, when you have a thousand over lives, you won’t remember every single one of them. So forgotten lovers coming back to haunt because your brain hates you? That’s everyday for him!

i just,, i like playing with the concepts of god,,

Up next we got Ayeka Himura! A japanese student going to a neighborhood, but still a pretty good, school living close to poverty due to her father’s constant spending habits and obsession with art supplies. With the household lacking a mother due to wacky shenanigans, Ayeka takes care of her two younger siblings and the house, all while maintaining a very well-paid job and slowly loosing interest in actually studying for a good, honest job.

She’s the group’s resident sweetheart and really does not want you to do stupid shit, stop doing stupid shit. She tutors my son up there ^^ even though he’s actually smart and just refuses to do his work properly. But she still deeply cares for him.

the last girl of the ching chong trio and the reason I had to switch up my son’s design is this girly over here! Her design was too business-y and formal so I enrolled all of them into college. A rich girl who doesn’t know how to deal with her g a y thoughts. Tried sending Li Shen some flowers once. She didn’t realize attaching her name would be a good idea and son got a good laugh.

i like paranormal stuff so they apparently look into that shit in their spare time. They’re all actually really fun characters to do prompts with I swear!! send some in and I’ll write them

a robo girl that i created during social studies cause they were talking about taxes and i just went, “what if,, a robo runs on taxes,,, and like,, she haunts you down for not paying your taxes,,” thus she was born! I don’t know what to name her but she is set in the future so-

Time to go future-apocalypse style because I love that setting too and was upset that I didn’t have any ocs in that style. So I created Alex A. ! A cybrog filled with memories of the previous generations as a sad attempt to preserve human life.

He’s accompanied by his sister/cousin idr i didn’t draw an icon for her, didnt like her design. they go on a hunt for food and to return with nothing. She gets to meet this other dude who has a plant arm im pretty sure i based him off someone’s elses oc but i cant remember. The 3 are forgotten. Kinda want to bring them back tho.

Neon! A character set in the future utopia of lazy people, where gamers rise up. its the best I can describe her story without getting too deep. She the new hacker on the block, joining the underground gang of elite hackers. She’s another one of those wacky characters that just has fun. I mean, when you know your way around codes and the world you live in is full of it, would you not take advantage of that?

anyways,, Alexzandra is one of the more older ocs I have that didnt get a big revamp. Only an au I develop to the point I forgot the actual shows and the original cast are a little different from the source haha what? She’s the emotionally unstable german war veteran, yes the wife thing isn’t mutual, and haha shes only 27~. I cling onto her so much?? She’s hits a lot of “edgy” points but I still love her cause idk,, the story I made for her is something I hold dear cause Alexzandra was one of my first ACTUALLY DEVELOPED CHARACTER. Is it wrong to say I hold her really close to my heart? Is that weird? probably a little cringy sorry haha. I probably project a little into her which might have strengthened my love for her ack. Her story delves more into the depression very unstable needs to talk to someone side and i get scared talking about my wife’s story online so uhh, idk ask me specific questions about her, I’ll be more inclined to talk.

Dr Watts! The spoiled ass dick that stole dst Wilson’s house and yes this is a dst oc, yes im slightly sorry.

He’s just fun?? almost ran a blog with him and a friend’s oc. He’s your typical uptight old science gramps that took advantage of the fact that no one knows his real name that he calls himself a doc. He’s not. I put everything about him up to a 9-10? He’s one of those wacky characters and I love him for it! His story is really wonky tho so might need help solidifying that part 

and from the angry old man to my sweet man that will adopt you even if you’re noisy or call him ginger. Pilot here is a TF2 OC I made to interact with other tf2 OCs cause some of them are fun and i wanna join in :((

He’s the Canadian stereotype, and yes, he adopted scout, that was one of my character notes. 

Like the actual cast of tf2, there’s barely any real story to him. I only gave him a vague I don’t know my past but hey, i fly really really well. He participated in war unlike certain men but he’s still really nice and will only kill you if you hurt his family. Which he doesn’t know so he just considers the cast his family. He keeps mentioning a wife though, pretty sure he doesn’t have one but you do what makes you happy son.

Ai! an oc I HEAVILY revamped oh my god i hate her old vers. So if yall remember my random shouting of missing my og son, Aru. Here’s his bff. cause he barely has any actual friends that give a shit. And I just cant have that. but here’s your yandere revamped into a last minute addition. I actually feel like I did Ai a lot of justice. I don’t want to delve too deep cause I will start making charts. I’ll do that in a separate post if yall are keen

Isamu Aena! a mp100 oc I made by accident cause idk,, I was thinking about lolita fashion and all of a sudden, the actual oc I was going to make turned into a mob psycho oc. She’s one of my few ocs where her sexuality matters (she’s gay yeah) cause it plays a role in her storyline. She went from being “manipulated”/used to Mob’s wingwomen. She spots out things that can help him in the romantic department cause she’s into romance. A student of the school Mob infiltrated and a fantastic tailor, not to mention a pretty decent pyschic. wait where do models get their lolita stuff from,,

im gonna ignore that and move onto Lillian Yi! Who, i swear i did not meant for it, is very close to lloyd. I mean,, none of the ninjas were with him after s3, who you think he’d meet. Lillian is a survivor from the Great Devourour and yes I’m still pissed LEGO stole my backstory for Lillian to use for Harumi. FUCK YOU LEGO, i still love both of em tho,, The event did leave a big scar and it made Lillian job jumping for a bit, ending at Chen’s Noodles in S6~, where ya know,, stuff got better. She was a medalist for gymnastics and continue the activity, even after her parents’ death, to please others. She was already lost at the time so staying in the sport would help, right? Needless to say, after being rejected at a cop academy for youths, or something similar, she gave up for a while but got back into the idea of saving people by using her skills she already had. It helped with the weight and feelings and meeting the green ninja was a very big bonus. Also Lloyd dubbed her the “mysterious stranger” when she refused to speak in fear of her identity, slight shame, and maybe a bit of being star struck. It helped Lloyd too in a sense where he had something to distract him from Zane’s passing.

 Their relationship was eventually formed, strong and almost unbreakable, except for harumi but uhh thats a different story. Throughout the seasons, they stayed close and lloyd was always comforted by Lillian went times get ruff.

Also Lillian is my most light-hearted characters and I think that says a lot

Then there’s Nite “I don’t want to be your dad”. A character that is supposed to be in the ninjago world but barely interacts with the main story and only stays in his self contained plot. He was supposed to get a bf but uhhh idk. He’s the master of shifting and streams that online, taking out small crimes, and is actually really shy and doesn’t like interacting with people.

Living with her uptight grandma and her big bottom energy bro, she has the dom energy thing going. and apparently folks on G+, or the people who comment about her, thinks she’s really pretty, which was oddly a thing back before UA. She’s the dick you can like, not like Bakugou but she will definitely want to fight Bakugou. 

A gum-related quirk is not full of perks when its only your hands. I’d dive more into her like her insecurities and stuff but I’ve been here for probably 3hrs. Sorry anon.

I haven’t really talked about me being uncomfortable shouting blogs out randomly before. I’m sorry I had to use your message as an example, but I also wanted to answer the rest of the ask. I’m sorry I made you uncomfortable.

I have written about this in the past, and so I am going to link to where I’ve talked about this before, (Here!) But I am also going to include a few new tips since, well, that post is from Oct of 2017.

In regards to your question- I would try and focus on original content first. I know that might be weird to see me say, as for a while I had a constant queue going on this blog, and nowadays I mainly just reblog other’s posts rather than making new content, but there are reasons for that.

If you make your blog pure reblogs, all anyone is going to come to your blog and see, first and foremost, that you seem to be a reblog blog and nothing else. It’s good to build up a small following based on the content you produce to where, mainly, a majority of your followers are there because they know you write and like your writing.

It’s hard to get a following for the content you produce if you don’t produce any, and if you focus on fandom reblogs instead.

Does that make sense? If not, send me another ask and I’ll try to explain it better.

Expanding on old tips with some new:

- Make sure your blog is easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile.

With this I mean including hotlinks onto your description for mobile like I have here:

This is so people can easily find out where I post my fics, my masterlist, and (back when I used to accept requests) my rules. It’s handy for mobile users. The coding for this is:

Of course, remove the shitton of spaces I put there so the coding shows up, but that’s an easier way for folks on mobile to view the important links you have on your blog.

For desktop, make sure your theme allows the text to be seen clearly. 

Good example:

Tumblr makes the text a bit blurry in this picture (thanks you pos site), but the text shows up well with the background, isn’t too hard on the eyes, unlike this-

With my theme, this box is a bit small, the text isn’t as bright as it could be to ensure readability, and it kind of hurts my eyes. I have no idea why I set it up like this, but since people don’t really visit my blog much anymore I’m way too lazy to change it.

- Harrassment. I really didn’t think the harassment issue in the mm fandom could get any worse- from the hard r*ka discourse and the constant bullshit discourse of shipping wars that is prevalent in every god damned fandom, but now zines and supporters of some zines have received even worse harassment than the basic stuff. A good thing to do with this is to try your best not to let it get to you, and block whoever is sending you the messages. That’s it. There’s bullshit baiting on this site constantly that says if you don’t answer rude ass, unjustified, hateful anons, then you’re a ‘coward’ or some ridiculous bullshit- and that’s exactly what it is- bullshit. The block button is there for a reason, and don’t be afraid to use it.

- Do not get upset if your blog doesn’t take off. Firstly, I’m sorry if this comes out as negative, but please, please, do not beat yourself up if your blog doesn’t get popular. Please just do this for fun, and if you receive a lack of notes on your posts, I can guarantee the main reason for that is going to be because this game has been out for almost three years now. I can promise that the main reason, and probably nearly the sole reason, that my blog took off was because I started it two years ago when the fandom for the game was still booming. And yes, the fandom for this game is still alive, but it’s dwindled significantly. A large number of blogs I followed for MM content have moved on to other things, and with Cheritz refusal to update us more with the promised After Ends/Ssum, people are dropping out pretty fast. 

That is not your fault, and will never be your fault. It’s probably going to be hard getting a lot of followers, if that's your goal, for your content with how long the games been out, but in no way will that ever mean your writing is bad, or less, or anything negative. 

I’m probably incoherent, but my end point is to Not Beat Yourself Up if your note count on posts isn’t high. Don’t compare your posts with blogs that have been out for a while, don’t think that your writing is bad- Keep your head up and keep doing what makes you happy, and please god don’t get in the mindset of comparing yourself to others, because it’s a hard hole to climb out of once you dig it.

that sounds really negative but wheeze please just do this for fun. Please keep it for fun, because otherwise, from at least my personal experience, it can be very draining if you don’t keep it at the ‘for fun’ part.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? 

 I wrote more words and more fic this year, but a bunch of it were very short stories! Shorter than my usual, I think. I am also very in love with the Destiny AU so I think that had a lot to do with my high word count. I also wrote a lot on the side I never posted, ahaha. I think I was very distracted this year by too many fandoms/ideas. Ah well.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? 

Nah. I’m predictable. I’m still side-eyeing the genji-as-a-motorcycle AU though. I did that?

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? 

 CARRY. It was Carry. I loved writing that stupid fic. It was so dumb but I feel so vindictive and about it because I wrote it to have fun and also to express some exasperation about a couple of mcgnj tropes I felt were kinda not-my-thing. BUT!! it makes me happy that a lot of other people enjoyed it too and also @vfordii drew THIS.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? 

 I don’t feel like I took any huge risks. I am pretty comfortable with the subject matter I write (--though I think it’s more of a matter of motivation and sticking to it). I, uh, did write some bottom/sub mccree which is somehow not all that popular within the mcgenji fandom and let me tell you this was hugely a case of “if no one will write it then I will but I will complain about it for the entire time”. I wouldn’t consider it a risk though, but I did learn a bit about how to comfortably write dirty talk without needing it to be explicitly written. I don’t think it shows up a lot in my current fics but I’ve been taking note of what sounds right to me vs how much I want to write, if that makes sense.

Also for the record all my mcgnj fic is implied sexual dynamic sub/bottom mccree, like, in the case it ever happens. (I’m kidding. Or am I. I am. (Not really.) No, I’m dead serious.)

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? 

 Finish the damn fics I start, why don’t I!!!!! (This is a constant goal.)

I do want to write some fandom stories for original characters. I also want to write more explicit fic without shaming myself out of it. What are the nastywords all the hip young adults are using nowadays? I don’t know and I get conflicting reports, but by god I will try to learn.

My best story of this year 

Hardcase, which is admittedly a small drabble but I think.. it holds very well under Destiny 2, despite my frustration with how Cayde is portrayed in comparison to the Destiny 1. I’ve always had this specific opinion about Cayde and his mysterious (and not so mysterious) agendas. Dude definitely has a hero complex and this fic sorta toes into it. Plus, I like any Cayde angst related to Andal.

I feel like, out of all my fics this felt the most complete, and one that I was most satisfied with what I wanted to convey with a limited amount of words. I’m aware that I’m not… really made for longer stories, so I guess… I like to play to my strengths? And this was it.

My most popular story 

 According to AO3 hits and kudos, it was make you sway, another mcgenji fic that started with the same motivation as carry. I think.. it’s obvious… that I, uh, like writing a specific brand of Horny McCree, in that he’s not so much embarrassed by his attraction to Genji but just slightly exasperated by it (and his timing). And, haha, also Genji not being 100% on top of his libido is a nice change of pace too. I remember having fun with this!!

Story of mine most under-appreciated, in my opinion

feel something is one I’m super fond of. It’s very short, but I feel like it’s my best r76 fic in terms of the relationship I want to portray, especially post-Overwatch. I like the way I wrote it; in my opinion it was very to-the-point, and doesn’t have the happy ending they don’t quite deserve (yet) but in my mind it’s still a very positive fic without being too idealistic? Not that either way is bad, it was just something different for me, personally.

Most fun story to write

devil gave me a crooked start was a fic I pulled right outta my ass but wrote it all in one sitting after I came up with a couple of lines of dialogue; “So I’m stuck in the future,” “Would you like to know the future you?”, etc etc. It helped that Blizzard had just released McCree’s Blackwatch skin (WITH THE BLACK LEATHER CHAPS!!!!) and while I wasn’t comfortable about Blackwatch Genji having any sort of romantic relationship with Blackwatch McCree, I was sure as heck willing for Present-Day!Genji having some good nasty fun with a younger McCree.

Also I had a stupid amount of fun writing triple threat: genji/genji/genji, and I’m now just seeing a pattern that I enjoy writing characters being humorously turned on and having fun getting their rocks off, so there’s that. What a revelation.

Most Sexy Story 

God im sorry but I wrote a mcgenji week drabble about blackwatch genji and mccree beating the shit out of each other and it’s the opposite of romantic and definitely not meant to BE romantic, but fighting can be sexy without being horny, right?? RIGHT???

Story with the single sexiest moment 

to a point, to your knees.  

It takes a huge effort for McCree to sit still after that, spine tingling and heat crawling over his body. The switchblade knife in Genji’s hand spins once in a little flourish, drawing McCree’s gaze to it. 

 His attention caught, Genji places the blade at his thumb and forefinger. He slides the knife between them once to no effect, then another time. McCree can hear the grating metal against each other and then the hiss of steam, knife edge still wet with spit from when McCree had held it on his tongue. 

 “Shall we see how sharp your mouth is now?” Genji asks, running the knife through his fingers once last time.

Genji sharpening McCree’s knife with his fingers and McCree getting hot (literally, metaphorically) and bothered by it is a personal achievement. For me or McCree, that’s up for debate.

Though I have to admit I’m absolutely still pissed about not titling the fic “cut to the feeling” instead because that’s a far better name for a knife kink fic an also my third favorite carly rae jepsen song.

Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story 

 I don’t think anyone was surprised about even my most wildest fic. I think a friend of mine was initially disappointed that the knife kink fic was tagged for “mild blood” instead of straight up bloodplay. I’m sorry.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters

I never quite like this question because I always have a good idea of how I want to portray a character in fic since most of my fics tend to lean on the introspective side of things. down and doubt is a very McCree-centered fic that deals with Gabriel, as well as Genji in relation to Gabriel. I wanted to show a lot of things about how McCree and Genji fight together, and what each of them thinks about the whole Gabriel Reyes = Reaper thing. I didn’t hit all the points, and I unfortunately had to scrub a scene off that I definitely want to rework in another fic, but I think I had the basics… present in the fic. I guess what did surprise me was touching on Soldier: 76, though the dynamics between him and McCree is another thing I want to write about for a later fic.

Hardest story to write 

  Intersect , mostly because the later half was such a visual story I had wanted to tell in a form that wasn’t all writing. I think It would have done better as a comic but what can u do? I still very much like the first half, which I had rattling in my head for the last year and a half, really.

I was aiming to write about McCree having hang-ups about Genji, and how he views himself—a washed out mercenary with no clear goals, in comparison to Genji, who’s off in a better headspace than him but still interested in McCree anyway. And it’s not so much a reunion fic I wanted to show but a story where it’s just ok to try and reacquaint yourselves with someone who might be a new person to you. I think. I very much did not want it to be a reunion fic.

Most disappointing 

 Intersect!!!!!!!! It was so jumpy!!!! I had a lot of expectations for it!!!! I wanted it to be so much!!!! In the end I just gave up trying to make the words all fit and banged out the rest of the story and let it go. I’m still upset it didn’t come out the way I wanted it but I think it was better to just post the damn thing rather than let it rot in my drive forever. I felt better for posting it but I don’t think I can reread it anytime soon.

Easiest story to write 

 I lot of fics that fall into this category were the drabbles like Wake Up Calls. I really like writing about mundane moments and little glimpses of a developing relationship, especially for mcgenji, because my headcanon of them consists of a bunch of little moments that somehow build up into a rolling romance that sneaks up on both of them. I think it’s why I have such a hard time writing one long cohesive fic about them. There just isn’t a Big Ah-Ha Moment for them to me? I guess? I guess. I’m rambling!!

Biggest surprise 

 That I continued the mcgenji motorcycle AU, honestly. I love it to pieces and it’s fun but god do I think it’s such a chore writing the build up leading to the parts I WANT to write in the first place!!!!!

Most unintentionally telling story 

  gift for gift started out as a very Gabriel Reyes-centric story but somehow I got passionate about Widowmaker and so it’s also very much about her as well and how she functions within her lack of autonomy. I wanted to explore Gabriel’s motivations/drive to push forward without mentioning just what, exactly, he was going for, which was surprisingly very easy.

Story I’d like to revise

Intersect, not so much revising it but revisiting some of the themes and concepts, especially about McCree. I’ve talked enough about this fic. Anyway.

Story I didn’t write but will at some point, I swear 

 Well. It’s more of a WIP at this stage but I want to write my epic 100k, 50 chaptered Guardian/Fallen romance fic for Destiny but we’ll see how that goes? Mostly I’m waiting on Bungie because I’m so dry on Bungie lore and I have no idea what the House of Dusk is up to and that’s kinda important to my story—which is, not really at all, but I would LIKE to make sure.

oh yeah, while im sitting here listening to vocaloid and thinking about it, im gonna make a post abt how the main vocaloids (the most popular ones i think. at least the most iconic) act. basically, personality headcanons

miku: because of songs like world is mine + kocchi muite baby, i imagine her being tsundere (or himedere ofc, but himedere just seems like a more posh version of tsundere to me). she’s rude and frequently reminds ppl that she’s the most popular vocaloid, and sometimes she might start mess just for the heck of it. since she’s tsundere, she of course has a sweet side, buut.. its well hidden. her bossiness is part of her charm!

rin: tomboyish and spunky! she’s very active and likes to have fun. she’s a type b tsundere (normally kind but becomes violent sometimes. miku is type a- normally mean but becomes kind). also very impulsive and childish. she’s very protective of len and will fight anyone who’s mean to him. and its not like len doesnt need it, because len is

len: a pwussy boi not as loud or rough as rin, but level-headed and more aware of other’s feelings. the peacemaker. sometimes he can be a bit of a doormat because he doesnt like to say no;; but on stage, he becomes a whole different person! it may seem like he’s trying to steal the show sometimes, but only on stage can he stand out like that-- behind the curtains, he’s quite shy

luka: beautiful face... beautiful voice... beautiful body... luka’s really got it all and she knows it. and yet, why is miku more popular than her? she wonders that a lot and competes with her junior a lot, but she’s not mean about it. is she blunt? yea. but never purposefully mean. oddly enough, despite being painfully honest, she just cant say the truth when it comes to who she loves... (go google it)

meiko: tbh i dont know much abt meiko. i dont care much for her either since i dont like her voice a lot. sorry meiko! she’s definitely the wine aunt and loves to have a good time ( ;-) )

kaito: the princely type, but he’s prone to clumsiness and ditziness. kinda like tamaki from host club now that i think about it... since a lot of vocaloid look up to him, he tries his hardest to be a good role model and always do his best. how he acts on the surface and looks vs his actual personality and love for ice cream and tendency to day dream and be immature... gap moe

gakupo: this guy LOVES japanese history, but his favorite part is the samurai. he constantly tries emulate them and their virtues (The unwritten Samurai code of conduct... held that the true warrior must hold that loyalty, courage, veracity, compassion, and honor as important, above all else) through... MUSIC!! he’s also a bit of a playboy, and kind of a hothead, and he’s more serious than kaito. touch his sword collection without his permission and you’re a goner (AKA, he’ll get really pissed but rin will come and kick his ass before he can really do anything)

gumi: i bet she and rin get along, cuz their personalities are similar, but gumi is more... intense. she does many ~boyish~ things too, but she’s not childish like rin and is more of the big sister or nice neighbor type of gal. probably skateboards.
