Top 5 husbandos?

Oh, thanks for the Ask again.

My experience is kind of limited at the moment regarding husbandos, but I do have a few favourites. I'll make a list below.

First to mention is Tadanobu Nomura, age 33, from Metro PD (Voltage Inc). He's a Deputy Chief, master negotiator, and a chronic flirt but still a gentleman. Once you get behind the flirty cover, he is caring and loyal. (Plus handsome...) Nomura was my first Husbando and he is still one of my favourites after all these years. He set the bar extremely high for the future husbandos. (And also probably the reason why I tend to like husbandos with beards...)

The second one to mention is Kaoru Rindo, age 42, from Cafe Enchante. He works for the Government's Paranormal Measures bureau (GPM) and is in charge of monitoring Café Enchanté and its patrons. There is still a lot to learn of him, but so far he has been a hard-working gentleman with a sparkle in his eyes. Every encounter with him ends up getting me blushing... I guess he reminds me of Nomura... *cough*

The third husbando is Ginnosuke Oguri, age 41, from In Your Arms Tonight (Voltage Inc). He's a successful hotelier and a gentleman tease. He is quite a flirt as well, but the most mature and professional one of the three. The circumstances are not optimal for romance when you meet him and the burn is slow, the feels are intense but sweet at the end...

Choosing the 4th and 5th were a lot harder than the "top 3". I could of course go with the "face value", but there needs to be something else than just a beard (or a fluffy fur on the shoulders...). This is where the challenge comes as I don't know that many husbandos deeply enough to say they are my top 5. There are many potential ones, but I need to get to know them better first.

With that said, my tentative 4th Husbando (at the moment) is Sosuke Kikuchi, age 26, from Finally, in Love Again (Voltage Inc). He is a deliveryman who also has a thing for windsurfing. Sosuke may come off as blunt and earnest, but deep down he is shy and sweet. Sweet with a capital S.

And lastly, tentative husbando number 5 is Shusei Hayakawa, age 27, from Our Two Bedroom Story (Voltage Inc). He is a popular flirty guy at work, but actually a hardcore gamer, a gentleman, and a sweetheart. While I don't enjoy love triangles in general, everything else made up for it.

As for honorary mentions, some potential future husbandos:

Motonari Mouri, from Ikemen Sengoku. All I only know is that he is a rebellious pirate, some sort of antagonist in the game, but I already fell for him from face value only. Unfortunately, I need to play Act 1 with some other husbando in order to meet him in Act 2...

And there is this guy, but he's quite a mystery for me yet...

I’ve been playing FILA since the beginning and i’m so mad that i’ve just now purchased and playing THIS! Like i have played and replayed FILA in both the original app and the Love 365 port so imagine my surprise when i saw I have not purchased THIS STORY😅😅😅

Finally, In Love Again: Sosuke Kikuchi Route Review [SPOILERS]

You know what I love about Voltage’s Love365 app? The free stories that they make available for brief periods of time. It’s a) really generous of them, and b) provides great insight into whether that route (and others) in a game are worth buying! Sosuke Kikuchi’s route in Finally, In Love Again is only available for free for the next three days, so you should check it out if you have the spare time :)

I don’t exactly fall into Finally, In Love Again’s target demographic, but nonetheless, the premise was great! MC is a 34-year old Japanese pastry chef who faces strong pressure to date/get married from friends, family...even her shitty coworkers at the snobby bakery she works at. I get the sense that finding a partner by a certain age if you’re a women is viewed as even more important in Japan than it is in Western societies. In any case, luckily for MC, she’s in a dating sim, because before long, she finds herself not only starting a new job at a cooler bakery, but also surrounded by a bunch of hot younger men, all of whom are interested in her!

Enter Sosuke, the ��cool” guy (Voltage’s description) 8 years MC’s junior. Heads up: I have no idea what inspired the “cool” label, haha. Sosuke first meets MC as a delivery man. He’s blunt/brusque at times, but it’s really obvious that he’s super interested in MC from the get-go. Sosuke end up being the designated delivery/pick-up person for the online orders at MC’s work every night, so he and MC get the chance to grow closer as the story progresses. They bond over MC’s cake experiments (which he helps with) and tea. It doesn’t take long before he’s directly confessing his love to MC...but MC’s hesitant due to the age difference and her career aspirations. But lovely Sosuke’s willing to wait:

“Well, that was fast,” you might think. Not really. Spoiler: turns out the poor guy is a childhood friend of MC’s younger twin brothers, and has been in love with MC since he was six. Literally. So needless to say, there were a lot of super adorable flashbacks in this route! I honestly spent a good amount of the story just feeling sorry for poor Sou though, because even after learning all this about Sosuke and getting to know (and become attracted) to him, MC’s hot/cold towards the dude until the very end. It’s hard to blame her, given the obvious strong cultural norms - even her brothers initially disapprove of the pairing. But...I dunno. The way MC treated Sosuke was pretty much the gender flip of one of my absolute least favorite tropes in romances: namely the wishy washy guy who’s scared of love until the very end. :/ In any case, MC’s behavior aside, this route’s ending is pretty freaking adorable, if utterly ridiculous! Let’s just say that professional sailing and live-on-TV love confessions are involved.

So, TL;DR: did I totally love this plot/storyline? Not exactly. There were many aspects that I did appreciate though. First, Sosuke’s backstory (much younger childhood acquaintance with a massive long-term crush) is a trope that I have literally never seen in any female-oriented romance, so that was a novel experience. Second, there was a strong cast of side characters: MC’s mischievous twin bros, her peppy supportive female co-worker, and a snarky gay florist, just to name a few. Third, I enjoyed the focus on MC’s career; there was pretty good insight into how she got to where she is today. And finally, I appreciated the fact that MC isn’t yet another young plucky heroine. While I really enjoy reading those types of stories too (see: IkeSen), this MC and her concerns over marriage/men/age felt super real!

Personality: 7/10. Sosuke doesn’t strike me as the brightest crayon in the box (seriously...who stays in love with the same person for 20 years with zero feedback?!) but he was endearing.

Appearance: 8.5/10 This guy is really good looking, if a little forgettable!

MC: 7/10. MC’s wishy washiness on the whole love thing really hurt her character appeal, but I enjoyed her backstory (34 year old woman feeling lonely)

Plot/Payoff: 6/10. The plot wasn’t especially thrilling, but it still somehow managed to feel “authentic,” despite the ridiculous setup.

Personal enjoyment: 6/10
