This might be a bit long but bare with me, I have a thought that it might be interesting to discuss about. Luigi has died before. I don't mine like how you loose in a game from touching the tip of a spice, I'm talking about him actually dying, heart stopping and everything.

First off, there was a literal cutscene in a Super Smash Bros game where Luigi got his soul reaped out of him, which some may say it's not dying but how can you possibly say that?

Then we have the classic arrival and end of the final battle of SPM, where Dimentio blows up Mr L and in return sends Luigi there even if Jaydes says none of them are dead. So did that mean that Dimentio simply harmed Mr L enough to knock him out and free him of Nastasia's control? No one knows. Then we have the part where Super Dimentio looses and Luigi and spat back out while the massive head is exploding. That, after being stretched into a monster and having his energy used to its limits during the battle by both Dimentio and the Chaos Heart should have killed him but didn't, or did it and something forced a bit of energy back into him to keep him from dying?

Then we have Luigi's Mansion. This only applies to the second and third game but it should get my point across. You can get golden bones that then Polterpup will eat and lick Luigi's face to bring him back to life, because there are no mushrooms to give him extra lives. Some say that Luigi just passes out because there are zzz floating when his health reaches 0 but we all know that that's not the case if it wasn't a game, especially in boss battles.

Get it now? Luigi has faced death multiple times and came back to tell the tale.

I'm just going to protest that the golden bones count like the 1-up mushrooms, AKA a way that in-universe allows the player to come back from death/failure so the game can continue. If you count the golden bones as a Strange Event narratively, so is the 1-up shroom.

On the other hand, the other examples you mention are indeed, very strange, especially the Smash Bros trailer. Still thinks that this is a BRUTAL way to "kill" Luigi (although Mario got impaled by Ridley in another trailer. Smash ain't a good place for the Mario Bros).

Super Paper Mario is indeed a curious case. Did Dimentio "kill" Mr L entirely, leaving only Luigi behind in the Underwhere ? Was death the only way to defeat the brainwashing ? Was is just the shock of the explosion that knocked Luigi out of it ?

But with all the various evil entities possessing or mind-controlling Luigi over the years, how much do you want to bet that at least some of these possessions turned wrong and actually killed him ?

Sure, Bowser regularly gets possessed by other villains too but he's all but stated to be immortal (and going by Dry Bowser, he IS immortal as long as you toss him into a pot)

Maybe Luigi did die more than once...and yet, for reasons no one could explain, he just. Came back. People barely noticed, assuming each time he was just fine while possessed. Maybe it's luck. Maybe the universe wasn't one with its favourite chew toy. Maybe he kept something from each villain that unsettles the fabric of reality, thus his chronic bad luck.

All Luigi knows is that sometimes, things happen around him. Ghosts. Laws of physics breaking. Prophecies setting him up as a destroyer of worlds. People forgetting about his existence. Just slipping in and out of reality. Like he wasn't supposed to be here anymore but still found his way back.

I love the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once, but I cannot shake off the fact that the villain’s plan was eerily similar to Count Bleck’s plan in Super Paper Mario.

The trope of “I’m going to destroy all of existence because I am in pain” isn’t a new trope, but it very rare to see. And both Count Bleck and the villain of EEAAO (who I somewhat forgot the name and still want to keep obscure for the surprise) want to destroy the multiverse with a giant portal because a parent of theirs disapproved of someone they loved. 

Now I’m not saying that EEAAO ripped off Paper Mario. Both are very compelling stories that revolve around the idea of love from different perspectives. EEAAO has the protagonist going on a great journey of self- discovery which is mind bending and fun to see while SPM is an interesting Mario game that explores more of the in-game characters and more of the side characters. Both EEAAO and SPU are very obscure and almost hidden gems that tell a story of love from different perspectives. It’s just interesting to note how similar they are and how cool it might be if SPM inspired such a movie.

Extra spoilers: They also end very differently too. In one- the antagonist was already feeling uneasy with their plan and wanted the protagonist to very much put an end to them. They do get somewhat convinced out of it, but not as much as the other antagonist who really just wanted to end things due to how overwhelming it was. One is able to reconcile while the other sacrifices, both with the hope and promise of better life ahead and its beautiful and you need to check out both!

1st week in college

お久しぶりね！！

i’ve started my college for almost 2 weeks now, and so far it’s good. i am very happy with the facilities around here, and i am grateful that my dorm is so near to most of my classes. 

i gotta admit, i’m kinda sad that i’m pursuing my pre-u in matriculation college, because i was offered into 2 years programme in Life Science. keep in my mind that here, most of the people will get 1 year programme. so i feel a bit dumb bcs people tend to look down on SES (4 semester system) students. 

but on the bright side, SES’s schedule are less packed than SDS (2 semester system), and we learn the back to basics on our 1st year.

sometimes i’d like to think that God is giving me another chance to fix my mistake during SPM years, bcs i srsly do not cover up some of the basics during SPM. 

as a life science student, we’re studying Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. for the 1st semester it is compulsory for all of us to take English as extra subject bcs during our 3rd semester (2nd year) we will be taking MUET (Malaysian University English Test) 

at my college, we need to be active in our co-curricular activities as it will contribute 10% in our finals exam, and that very marks will be needed in order to apply for university level. 

there are a lot of clubs and organisations that u can join in order to gain your co-curricular marks. currently i am my female class representative and i am looking foward to join much more activities! 

i’m not an active person so i am aiming for positions like secretary bcs i have 2 to 3 experience as a secretary during my high school year and i love managing stuff! and who knows if i’m lucky enough to be a sports team manager right? :)) 

so far, physics is the scariest bcss on the first day, she told us to stand up and name all of the derived quantities, AND I FORGOT! i didn’t even get the chance to name any bcs others alr took the opportunity. IT WAS SO EMBARASSING T-T 

she’s scary, i don’t really like her class honestly

biology. my biology teacher is a very detailed person, and i like her for that. she alr provide all of the materials for us, all we need to do is follow her instructions and study well. that’s all i can tell about her for now

chemistry. this is my 1st time getting a male teacher for chemistry. he likes to crack some jokes and he explain the concept using the terms that we all can understand :)) but i cannot fully say that i like his way of teaching YET. bcs i wanna see how he deliver the complicated topics to us. 

maths. surprisingly, I AM LOVING MATHS HERE! i like this teacher bcs she teaches us with full and detailed explanation as to why this number turn into the other stuff :)) she gave us lots of hw too but i don’t mind that bcs i do be needing lots of exercises T-T

uhh so far that’s all for now…

this is personal, but i am actually very lonely here :(( idk why, i just don’t feel connected to people around here. it’s so lonely but (sigh) i don’t care i guess…..

anyways, i’m planning to hit the library tomorrow to check on some of the reference book and consider if i should buy them or not :))

yes mr l and nastasia is a rly good one bc like... there is so much to Explore there. i rememebr in the post i pointed out that every time the minions messed up, nastasia usually punishes them, but when mr l goes missing she blames herself for the incident... like it might be bc he was the only one who Died (thanks for that dimentio) but it makes me wonder... if nastasia felt an extra bit of Responsibility for the new guy.... she was one of the only people besides dimentio who like. Knew luigi was mr l. wonder what that was like. and then after the events of the game luigi and nastasia... she’s probably pretty hard on herself just bc she’s really lost and misses the count so i can’t even imagine
