He did get a plane

In exchange for me being a bad mother, coming back from work five days after that horrible incident in the morning, I went to the store and bought Sam a model plane. I even had it nicely wrapped up, and practiced a speech as I was driving.

However, the house was quiet when I got home, so I got super worried. I found a note in the kitchen from my husband saying that he took Ben to the museum to see some old planes, and that they won’t be back till late in evening: “Get yourself a glass of wine and relax a bit. I am sorry”. Even though I was supposed to be happy about some free time on my own, I stared at the package in my hand and felt horrible. They could at least have invited me to go with them there.

I took a shower and went to bed, since I caught this terrible headache at work. Must have been the drift, and I did go there with my hair wet. As I couldn’t fall asleep at instant, I kept thinking about what I did wrong with Sam. I tried being a really good mother, implemented everything my mother did with me, but somehow it always turned out to be that I am the bad cop in the family. Could it be my husband’s fault? He is trying to spoil him more than he should have been.

At some point, I heard the door open, and realizing that I have forgotten the gift for Sam in the kitchen, ran downstairs. But he was faster. As he opened it, he screamed “Thanks Dad!”.
