ANIMO CUP 2017: THE EPILOGUE SANGKA-SALIG
Sports fest in La Salle Academy usually happens annually. It is an event which often sponsored by the school in which participated by students for friendly competition to take part in sports, perhaps for trophies or prizes. This event showcased the various talents of every year level from Elementary, Junior High up to Senior High. This year’s sports fest of SHS has come up with a unique theme “THE EPILOGUE: SANGKA-SALIG” which means the lost girl search for the perfect tribe whom she can trust and lean on and together they will defend and win the crown. Also, this sports fest came in various events, may it be in sports, board games, TUGKANYAW (Tugtugan, Kantahan at Sayawan), painting, photography, film showing, amazing race, bench cheering, pop dance, spoken poetry and Wanna Be, as well as Ambassadress 2017.
We all know that school is a place where students are nurtured toward becoming responsible and productive members of society. School provides a means of moulding students into capable employees or professionals in their chosen fields. These sports fest event are considered to be a way to relax the students and temporarily forget academic problems. It is the day to have fun, socialize, come together as a team to achieve one’s goal, to win the trophy. Also, it builds great bond for each strand in SHS and comradely. According to Geminiano 2010, physical education encourages students to have holistic and active lifestyles and practice the arts of winning, losing, and teamwork. In other words, participating in physical education such as sports fest provides invaluable life skills which develop by every students.
DAY 1
The opening remarks of the sports fest themed ANIMO CUP 2017: THE EPILOGUE SANGKA-SALIG happens in a blast! It usually open with torch lighting, Tributes for the four tribes (The house of Wolves, Sharks, Eagles and Lions) representing each strand (STEM, TVL, HUMSS, and ABM), and Bench Cheering Competition before participants proceed to their specific Minor, Board games and Major events.

DAY2
The second day events profoundly became lively as events continues and getting more intense for close fights in different sports within the four strands. The afternoon events also contributed to add the excitement of each tribes as “TUGKANYAW” have been introduced, such as pop dance, spoken poetry, vocal trio, acoustic jam and wanna be.
DAY 3
On the third day, the atmosphere became much intense because of the pressure each tribes had felt, aiming the same goal which is to win championships for every sports. Every tribes cheered for their strands to boost their participants energy.
On the afternoon part, the most awaiting event has come, the coronation night for the next Lasallian Ambassadress 2017!
👑 It’s not just a crown, it’s more of a privilege to put forward an advocacy to make a change.

AWARDING
This is the most awaiting day for everyone, the awarding day! Who gathers the most points on the three day ANIMO CUP 2017? Who will win the over all champion?

1st Runner- Up – ABM (Accountancy business and management)
2nd Runner- Up – TVL (Technical vocational and Livelihood)
3rd Runner- Up – HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences)

SHS ANIMOLYMPICS 20K17 "SANKA:SALIG"
"The battle has began". La Salle Academy in Iligan City is celebrating their sportsfest in the month of November in 16th till the 18th day. The fest was participated by different strands. Starting from the tribe of "Rumaragasang Pating" the Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL).
They are determines as fierce and rapacious from all representing the tribe of wolfs from the strand of Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
They characterize the strength, keenness of vision, and powers of flight, the Mighty Eagle represents from the strand of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMMS).
And lastly, they portray the character of being courageous and the quality of being ferocious the tribe of roaring Lions, from the strand of Accountancy Business Management (ABM).
Everyone felt the excitement and enjoyment as the event is going on. Starting from major events down to minor events. The presence of individuals who are competent and capable of winning from all sports and other highlighted categories. From the guidance of every adviser, the lead of principal and the company the sportsfest celebration goes well. Giving some important announcements and instructions for all students in this event so that everyone would enjoy and no trouble around. Still the present of being well disciplined and being a competent person is present to everyone. It was an other kind of event for everybody.

DAY 1: THE BATTLE OF THE TRIBES HAS BEGAN
November 16, 2017 the opening or the First Day of our sportsfest2k17 started. On the said day there are lots of events present such as Lighting of Torch, Tribute, Bench Cheering and as well as the sports events namely Basketball, Volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee. In lighting the torch Student Council (SC) prepares a short video clip for its introduction. As the torch being lighted it is now officially the start of the sportsfestk2k17. After the lightning of torch the commentator then introduce the four representative icons of each track individually. As follows the bench cheering of each track is ready to present their cheers. As I noticed with the events all were determined and eager to win the crown to be named as Sportsfest2k17 Champions.
Game 1: STEM vs TVL followed by ABM vs HUMMS
All set, as the game started STEM leading dozens of points in the first quarter of the game led by Chester having 10points on a score of 20 – 8 in favor of STEM over TVL. On the second quarter TVL made an 16 – 6 run over STEM in late 2 minutes of the remaining time resulted into a score of (STEM) 26 – 24 (TVL) at the end of the second quarter. Start of third quarter both team has been led by their mvps to force to have a score of 38 – 38 tie game. On the last quarter of the game the TVL fell short to overcome the power of STEM 52 – 50 led by their mvp Chester who made 22points following his game winning lay-up in just 3 seconds remaining time of the game.
Following the game, I can say that it was a good game between STEM and TVL knowing that the opponents are big and tall but it doesn’t makes the TVL afraid of their tallness instead they do their best and made them to strive more even if they lose yet still it was a great fight.

Day 2: Lakbit-Awit
The day was started by the checking of attendance, announcement and scold by the principal. In the morning, they have their continuation of the sports namely Basketball, Volleyball, Frisbee and etc. Also, the game Amazing Raze was started. Some of the students who are participants of the Lakbit-Awit is having their strand in a particular sports. In the afternoon, the Lakbit-Awit was started at exactly 1pm in the gym where all students are required to watch and witness the performance of every strand. The Lakbit-Awit program includes Spoken poetry, Vocal trio, Pop dance and Wannabe. It is a successful day because all the performance was being performed well and no accidents happen in the event.

DAY 3: HIGHLIGHTS OF ALL: FROM AWARDING TO LASALLIAN AMBASSADRESS
The third day event was best of all to watch, everyone is excited about the crowning but before that we all witnessed the performance of each strands acoustic jam and then a short brief announcement for the winners of some events.
Lasallian Ambasadress is the most awaited event of all. Everyone supports to every contestant who represents their strand and lucky for those who win the event. I was amaze by their beauty and confidence, they are the future role model to every students in La Salle, I believe in their advocacy through such things that a Lasallians must be present, through touching hearts and transforming lives from men to women.

THE OVER ALL
In general, the Animolypics 2017 was very successful and fun that it makes the students forget about academics for a short period of time to enjoy the different events and showcase the skills and talents of a lasallian. From day 1 until day 3, the competitiveness and the sportsmanship of the students who participated in each event was being showed in order to get the title of being the Overall Champion of this year’s Animolympics. The awarding ceremony was exciting because there are still major events which the winners was still unknown. As the awarding of the different events goes on, the students already have the clue of which strand will get the Championship. This year, Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) was the overall third runner-up, the defending champions, Technical Vocational and Livelihood (TCL) was not able to defend the title and they were the overall second runner-up. The battle for the overall champion was between the Accountancy and Business Management (ABM) and Science and Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In the end, the STEM strand was declared as the overall champion. They have proven themselves because they were the last in the overall ranking in last year’s Animolympics while ABM remains constant with their position as the overall first runner-up but for us, everyone was the champion because everyone have contributed to make Animolympics successful and have given their best to represent their own strand.
