hello, hello! we are hurtling towards the end of the semester and moving back home for the summer! there’s a lot to be done, and i’m slowly inching my way towards the finish line…

registration for the fall semester is thursday, so wish me luck in getting into my classes 🤞 it’s like the cornucopia in the hunger games.

today, i finished my writing piece for thursday, did some revisions on a flash fiction piece, read half of my readings for anthropology, and made some designs for my club’s instagram. i’ve been doing a lot of crocheting instead of work these past several days since i’m selling my work on friday… the end of the semester is so busy with final assignments and big events! i have a lot of final projects to do and a final exam to study for, and everything is due at different times 😵‍💫 i’m aiming to keep you guys more updated over the next three weeks until i move out. not sure what this blog will look like over the summer…

So the red triangle in my path scheme:

is now a plum tree guild.

Tilled in some compost from our kitchen waste pile. I have three piles strategically placed around the yard which I call my dirt factories, and I've spent about three years building them up. This is the first year I've used any of it and I was pleasantly surprised to find some nice dark crumbly compost under the layer of half-decomposed recent additions.

That barrow load was only about 1/3 of what I have. It just sort of looks like dirt but u can see the difference in the second pic against that clay soil. Which should be subsoil -- I live in a damn rainforest but the topsoil on my slope has been stripped after decades as a grass yard.

Tilled the area by hand which was laborious. Generally I have a strict no-till approach but this area was so stripped I figured it was worth disrupting it to add some compost. (also I could use the exercise I've been on T for a while and I'm not taking taking advantage of the gainz)

Anyway here is my new fruit tree guild planted, lined out, and mulched.

I put in a santa rosa plum, white lisbon bunching onions, quinault everbearing strawberries, and one Balkan yarrow. On the right side I will add some lupines for nitrogen fixing. I have a bunch on the other side of the path so it'll look real cute.

Also I bought a $30 stone cat

hello, hello! i’m officially home and on easter break ☺️ it’s very nice to be home, especially since i won’t be back until i move out! this week was pretty chill, but i did have an authors conference to go to two nights in a row for my fiction writing class. it was honestly really cool because they were all comic artists! i liked the different expression they can get by mixing both writing and art.

i came home late last night, and i’m very grateful to my friend from high school who happened to be driving through the area on her way back to our hometown. otherwise, i probably wouldn’t have been able to come home this weekend!

i did a lot of shopping and bought some new clothes and craft supplies today. i also started mapping out my april bullet journal, which i’ll hopefully finish tomorrow. i might also have a casual job interview tomorrow for the summer? i’m not 100% sure since my dad is the one in communication with the place i’d be working at (he’s very friendly with the whole staff, including the people who run the place!), but i’m hoping this job works out so i can save up some money for the next fall and spring semesters since as of right now, getting a job on/off campus isn’t plausible 🤞 gotta pay off those loans too!

whoops this ended up kind of turning into a brain dump, but next week i’ll be back to the grind until finals are over in may! i hope you enjoy my pictures of campus these next few days. happy easter to those who celebrate and i’ll talk to you soon! 💕
