FERN GULLY, OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA Follow us 👉🏾 @reggaevibe_tours_jamaica Follow us 👉🏾 @reggaevibe_tours_jamaica Follow us 👉🏾 @reggaevibe_tours_jamaica For more weekly, awesome information!!! ________________________________________ Fern Gully is a tourist attraction in Jamaica, located between the beautiful Ocho Rios and a small community known as Colgate. The Fern Gully roadway starts in Ocho Rios and goes south for approximately 3 miles, taking you along a scenic and winding stretch of road filled with many species of ferns tunneling over the road. The lush, green area got its name from the spate variety of ferns growing in the area. It is believed that there are approximately 300 different species of ferns in the area as well as other plant species which includes, banana trees and Jamaica's national tree, the Blue Mahoe. The roadway through Fern Gully emerged when a catastrophic earthquake hit Jamaica in 1907 destroying one of the eight rivers in the Ocho Rios area at the time. (Ocho Rios when translated from Spanish to English means 'Eight Rivers', given to the area because of its then 8 rivers by Christopher Columbus when he arrived in Jamaica in 1494). The riverbed was then paved giving rise to the roadway. @reggaevibe_tours_jamaica "WE ARE MORE THAN JUST A TOUR COMPANY" 1st 📸 by @jamaicaexperiences 2nd 📸 by @fly_like_a_wasp 3rd 📸 by @stronglikeamother 4th 📸 by @franniee31 5th and 6th 📸 by @zhatgirl_jade 7th 📸 by biancacarli_way Source http://www.jamaicatravelandculture.com/destinations/st_ann/ocho_rios/fern-gully.htm @jamaicanhope #jamaicanhope #visitjamaica #thingstodoinjamaica #riversinjamaica #jamaica #facts #onelove #caribbean #countryfacts #jamaicajamaica #joinmeinjamaica #traveltomorrow #proudjamaicans #sweetjamaica #that876life #jamaicalandwelove #proudjamaican #reggaevibes #ochirios #diplyfacts #wanderlust #ferngullyjamaica #ferngully #explorejamaica #wonderful_places https://www.instagram.com/p/CDlvxWTDhqL/?igshid=19kxjqus1a2j0

Things to do in Lytham and Blackpool
The winter months are almost upon us however we are still welcoming guests to the holiday cottage in Longridge, Lancashire. At this time of year we mainly host guests for short breaks, people that want that special break before the onset of Christmas.
A lovely day out is to have a nice walk and visit the  seaside resort of Lytham. On the Fylde coast Lytham is approximately 30 minutes drive from The Shippon Holiday Let, it has numerous golf courses, windmill and old Lifeboat Museum. It also has a wide range of  bars, pubs restaurants and independent and also High Street Shops. https://www.visitlytham.info/
You can also take a walk along the promenade or beach which is fantastic for blowing the cobwebs away. We also like to call at Whelans Fish and Chip shop located on the High Street just a short walk from the promenade. In our opinion this is a must visit. It has won lots of awards and it has a restaurant if you prefer to sit in or if you are like ourselves then we have them on the front looking out to sea. Quite a few famous personalities gave visited here including Gordon Ramsay, Carl Foggarty and Ryan Giggs.
Lytham hosts the Lytham Festival in July each year, this event is becoming increasingly popular with famous acts including Rod Stewart, Kylie, and many more having played.
Just down the road from Lytham is St Annes  where you can see the Victoria pier that was built in 1885 ,it’s built in cast iron with a wooden deck and includes shelters and pavilions in cast iron, glass, and wood. Well worth a visit and a lovely photo opportunity. Here is a little more information  on the history of the pier https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Anne%27s_Pier
If you like wildlife then have a walk down to Fair haven Lake there is a footpath that you can walk along or even hire a boat in the summer months. Events do take place here so its probably best to check before you go. All of these places are a lot quieter in the Winter months and are a great day out.https://www.visitstannes.info/

If you fancy going somewhere that is more action packed then a visit to Blackpool may be on the cards.
The UK's favourite beach resort features world-class attractions from a theme park to an aquarium, stunning beaches to the Blackpool Illuminations, a water park to a zoo,  wax figure celebrity look-a-likes and the unforgettable Blackpool Tower. Here is a little more information regarding the tower https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackpool_Tower.
These amazing experiences are underpinned by a year-round programme of events and fantastic shows. It has a great promenade that is ideal for cycling from one end to the other.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the world’s most ride intensive amusement park so if it’s adrenaline fuelled adventure you are looking for; you have come to the right place!  Blackpool Pleasure Beach is always ahead of the game when it comes to thrills.  The park is home to the UK’s tallest roller coaster, The Big One, the UK’s first looping coaster, Revolution and the UK’s first suspended looping coaster completely over water, Infusion.
Most of the year there are events going on here so please have a look https://www.visitblackpool.com/ for further details.
We hope that you enjoy our little mini guide of a day out on the Fylde coast on a winters day.
Bye for now
