Inspiration...The Velocet is obviously informed by Stanley Kubrick’s interpretation of A Clockwork Orange. We modified our name from Moloko Vellocet, one of the varieties of drug-infused Moloko drinks at the Korova Milk Bar. But did you know our band photo is also inspired by the film - the scene where Alex is tortured upstairs while Mr. Alexander plays Beethoven from a sound system on a pool table, shown here. Ayer @cinexve abrió una nueva opción cultural para disfrutar del cine en todos sus géneros, se llama @cinexartve. La antigua sala privé del @tolon_fm fue renovada con una nueva decoración que a su vez es clásica y rememora las primeras salas de cine, claro está, con un toque fresco y actual. El Gerente Corporativo de Programación de @cinexve #JoseGalarraga nos explicó que uno de los varios objetivos de @cinexartve es proporcionar una experiencia más profunda en el cine, involucrando desde la gastronomía (combos de bebidas y comidas alusivas a las películas, imagen 2 del slide) hasta los debates y cineforos de todo tipo de género fílmico de cualquier época, como por ejemplo proyectar la primera película de #MaryPoppins y luego compararla con la nueva versión que estrena @cinecolorve en diciembre. Esperemos que pronto se pueda abrir un debate de películas basadas en cómics 😀. Tuvimos la oportunidad de asistir a #ElPrimerHombreenlaLuna, película que suena a muchas nominaciones a los Oscar que estrena @venalcine este viernes. Sin embargo la lista de películas que tienen preparadas @cinexartve es extensa y con muchas sorpresas (ver última imagen del slideshow), este viernes proyectan #ElResplandor de #StanleyKubric. 2001: a space odyssey - gang. Went to see it in the cinema for its 50th anniversary. Henk was the only one in the sold out (though admittedly small) room who'd seen it in the cinema when it was first released! I'd seen it maybe 5 years ago but had forgotten 99% of it (typical). The beautiful images really need a cinema screen and the clever camera setups are still very cool. And it's great to think about how they made all this in the 60s. Only from what I call the "lsd-part" onwards I struggled to stay awake (also typical) but managed to do so after all (result) although I lost the plot a bit. Would recommend seeing in the cinema if you have the chance, but be patient (I'd recommend bringing sweets). Also, don't be like me and go ask to turn the lights off at the beginning bc you think they'd forgotten (it's part of the show). #2001 #2001spaceodyssey #spaceodyssey #stanleykubric #louishartlooper #louishartloopercomplex #cinema

Before Stanley Kubric knew he was going to make some of the best sci-fi and horror movies ever (like A Clockwork Orange and The Shining), his first claim to fame came as a 17-year-old photographer for LOOK magazine. He took these pictures in the New York subway system over two weeks in 1946.
