btw in my heart, future trio is there for the darkrai arc... i'm thinking that celebi figured him out and so she and grovyle and (hesitantly) dusknoir go back in time to try and stop him from changing the future back to what it was. thats when the big reunion is...

i dont really like to give pokemon that dont have fur, feathers, etc. “anime hair” (no shade to those who do, its just not for me) but im making an exception for kiran’s snivy illusion because its not real and kiran’s committed to the “hair over the eyes to mask xyr true feelings” bit

Are there any distinct differences in how Dusknoir treats Rin in the future when taking her in - and when they see them again in treasure town? Even if they don’t recognize them at first?

for sure! rin is a very different person before and after she loses her memories. in the future, she was pessimistic and uncomfortable. she felt weird and alienated being one of the last humans on the planet and yearned to be a pokemon like her father (even if he became a pokemon in a traumatic way- which he didn’t tell her). she was skittish and overly critical of herself and others.

dusknoir was extremely happy to find another human. it was a beacon of hope for him. he fell in love immediately, and rin actually eased his own anxieties. he was a fairly good father to her, trying to teach her to be an upstanding human. buuut he did put pressure on her as one of the last humans to “honor their past”. which made her feel worse for not wanting to be a human. she looked up to him though and trusted him with her life. their relationship didn’t sour until the planetary expedition team (or whatever it was called) came in and dusknoir allied with primal dialga. but i’d say their relationship was overall more quiet and tender.

by contrast, vulpix rin is MUCH more chill. she’s enthralled by the world around her and is extremely passionate about exploring (even if they didnt save the world, theyd be on track to graduate early because of how diligent she was). it’s easy to make her laugh and dance and sing.

so when dusknoir was in treasure town, he would get swept up in dances with her and the others! their relationship was more jovial and playful here, with them taking over spinda’s cafe and spending the night drinking and having fun. dusknoir liked the chance to decompress and chill with this nice, chill vulpix. and since she’s still a young 20 something, he looks out for her and makes sure she’s not in over her head for the tougher dungeons.

duskull raising rin alone in the future and warning her to keep away from other pokemon..... luxray raising nimbus to fear other pokemon for their own safety..............................

starfallverse stuff i’m pondering…..

-bidoof sticks around for the entire expedition arc and he goes with rin and nimbus all the way to fogbound lake ^^

-following on bidoof, he becomes the guildmaster when wigglytuff retires

-in their past life, kit used mew’s dna to create mewtwo hoping it’d help in the battle against dark matter. however, something went wrong (maybe dark matter immediately corrupted it due to it’s feelings about basically being created for war) and mewtwo was estranged from them…. they only truly reconcile after kit/nova regain their memories, but mewtwo had managed to resist dark matter the second time around enough to help hide pokemon from yveltal and help with its mega form

-team act is Worse. alakazam’s actions are more fueled by xenophobia this time around, pokemon square probably wouldn’t have listened to gengar after thinking on what he was saying, but the anxiety around the natural disasters AND alakazam’s endorsement was what got them to form an angry mob. they also end up getting absol killed i think??? not sure. someone dies.

-related to the above, i think humans had a bad rep at first in rescue team

-eris takes kiran to the human world with him sometimes. rn it works on equestria girls logic but kiran could also just stay a zorua. xe’s good friends with eris’s kid.

-chip’s dad is officer nidoking from se2. still trying to think on their exact relationship, but i do think nidoking was personally angry at armaldo because he had a little one of his own (in an ironic way i actually don’t want him to have the best relationship with chip…. we’ll see though) chip looooves his mama delcatty though and visits all the time.

-speaking of, idk the exact timeline rn but rescue team and explorers have like. 30-40 years between them??? not sure exactly. se5 takes place before rescue team though

-carracosta had a family before nova…. he’d lost them in an accident a few years before he found nova abandoned in the forest. he’s a little cold due to the trauma but he confronts that during psmd and vows to do better by nova once shes back….

How do you handle dungeons in Starfall? Are the pokemon inside them sentient, illusions, or something else?

good question!! as of right now, it's sort of a mix of sentient pokemon and illusions depending on the dungeon? like, the magnagate dungeons in GTI? all illusions. none of those guys are real, they're manifestations of the dungeon's power.

sentient pokemon are wayyyy more common in normal dungeons, though. there are some illusions here and there, but not as many. sometimes they're wild pokemon that live in the dungeons normally and are just trying to protect their territory or find food.

but in harsher dungeons, The Wind takes over. The Wind is actually the dungeon itself, in a way, or an extension of its power. if a pokemon is trapped inside of a dungeon for too long, The Wind grabs control of their body and forces it to be a part of its defense mechanism. After a few days, when the pokemon is weakened, they get spat back out again.

I alluded to it a bit on bugsofpetalroot blog here ^^ i was gonna go more into detail about it if someone asked for an elaboration. (granted, i'm gonna reboot the blog, but this lore is still intact)

also i think eris didnt learn about kiran being a zorua until like….. inflora forest, when kiran opened up about xyr past for the first time…… up to that point, kiran had been presenting as an oshawott only and hiding it. but after eris and the rest of paradise learns, kiran uses other illusions for fun
