Anyone else think it's really fuckin weird how the left would never attack a church, even though there's churches out there explicitly preaching terrorism? But we can attack a synagogue for. *Checks notes* a perfectly legal real estate event?
It's absolutely wild. Our country is literally steadily being taken over by Christofascists but all their churches are somehow safe from angry mobs. And even if they (the anti-Zionist activists) completely ignore their own country (it's not like they live here or anything!) and focus entirely on America's support of Israel, the Christofascists are still the big group supporting the worst aspects of Israel and Zionism. They'll sometimes acknowledge this when they fight against the idea that anti-Zionism can very easily bleed over into antisemitism and they need to watch themselves and listen, they'll throw out that little piece of trivia that there are more Christian Zionists in America than there are Jewish Zionists (hell, the number of Christian Zionists in America is at least in the range of, and possibly even higher than the number of Jews alive in the whole world) but it means nothing because they don't go after the Christian Zionists the way they do Jewish Zionists. They never threaten or attack their places of worship. They never pore over Christian publications or groups looking for events to call each other to action over. No, they always focus on everything Jewish, despite their acknowledgement of Christian Zionists. Those acknowledgements definitely seem to be a cop-out, a smokescreen to try and pretend they're genuine in only being anti-Zionist (for a given definition of Zionism).
There's a lot of talk over those types of Leftists who are obsessed with "punching up" but at least 95% of the time in practice are actually punching sideways or even down. And I think this is another example of that. Some probably actually believe that Jews are a super powerful, privileged group institution in America, on par with WASPs, but I'm sure some of them also realize they're not. And that's why they protest and threaten synagogues and not churches. That's why they march into Jewish neighborhoods and intimidate the inhabitants. It's low-hanging fruit. They want someone to attack and their list of targets very conveniently is almost identical to the list of targets of the supremacist culture they grew up in.

Heya! I was just wondering why you had a blue checkmark next to your name? (Just saw the new update and was wondering lol)
So I'm not seeing it, probably because of an extension I'm using, but I'm guessing it's an April Fools Day thing. I think I remember tumblr doing this before, it's making fun of the blue checks on X

Please don't take this as hate, I just want to be educated, but what nuance about Zionism is there? How is it complicated? If you could link me to some articles I'd love to read them
So, like I said this is very complicated and deals with thousands of years of history, and I am still learning myself. I'm a gentile who is not a historian or any other relevant type of scholar, and there's a lot of debate about this just amongst Jewish people, and even among people who identify as Zionist, there's difference in opinion on what exactly it means. I'm just a person doing their best to listen to and support people and their safety and lives.
At it's base, Zionism can be defined as the belief in self-determination for the Jewish people and having their own nation-state in their homeland. It can even be defined as simply being neutrally ok with such a concept. Judaism isn't just a religion, Jewish people are an ethnic group with origins in the Levant. They've been scattered around and have mixed with other ethnicities and cultures, but they're still a group in their own right, as so many others are. I see a lot of people compare the Palestine/Israel conflict to the colonization of the Americas but they are not really comparable, there's a lot more history behind it and the truth is more complex than "Jews are foreigners".
Zionism has definitely been militant and colonial, but there are also Zionists who are progressive and support Palestine as it's own nation-state. Simply living and planning to continue living in Israel can be considered Zionist and there are Israelis fighting right now for the rights of Palestinians and for the rights of non-Jewish Israelis. I recommend looking into the organization Standing Together for one such organized example.
And while Zionism has had ties to British and American colonialism, it also has ties to how Jews have been chased out of their homeland and basically every other place they've ever lived in throughout all of history, with many being murdered along the way. In many ways, Israel is a refugee state. It doesn't make everything done along the way or that their governments and militaries have done ok (which, welcome to the whole world!), but their story is way more complicated than "white supremacist colonizers".
There are Zionists who are militant and violent, and support the complete destruction and eradication of Palestine, I have seen them myself. There are also Zionists who simply want to live in peaceful co-existence with their Palestinian neighbors, and support the rights of non-Jews within Israel and I have also seen them myself.
From my personal experience, I see more Zionists actively working to raise up and support Palestinians and non-Jewish Israelis than I see anti-Zionists actively working to clean their ranks of blatant anti-semitism. I see Jewish Israelis (whose base existence can be considered Zionist) on the ground actively fighting for the rights of Palestinians and non-Jewish Israelis and I see American and Canadian anti-Zionists on the ground actively aiding and abetting hate crimes against Jews and laughing at Jews feeling scared for their lives no matter what their political beliefs are. I see Israelis wanting and actively working for peace and safety for everyone and anti-Zionists cheering on the murders and rapes of Israelis. And there's plenty of people all across and in between that spectrum, I know. Life is complicated. The world is complicated. History is complicated. Too complicated for me to feel comfortable being anti-Zionist or to be against the base existence of Israel.
When life is complicated I turn to and want to work with and be among people who value human life and want peace and safety for everyone.

Ironically, what happened in Amsterdam was the Maccabi hooligans were the ones who started the confusion by tearing down houses and vandalizing Palestinian flags and chanting Fuck You Palestine. But apparently the media is successfully managing to make them look like the poor victims of Ajax fans.
Point me to where in anything I said I was denying that there were Maccabi fans who actually were doing bad and harmful things.
Doesn't excuse coordinating an attack specifically targeting Jews while using antisemitic language. When people are pleading that they're not Jewish in an attempt to protect themselves from being beaten, there's a problem.

I’m back with more questions!
1. Is your interest in Godzilla exclusive to the Monsterverse, or do you like other media too? (This is a purely selfish question; Godzilla Minus One is one of my favorite movies and I weasel in an excuse to recommend it to everyone I meet. Consider this my recommendation to you!)
2. Other than the core six (Robin, Raven, Cyborg, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Terra), who’s your favorite Titan from Teen Titans? If you can’t pick just one, I don’t blame you— I can’t either! Mine are Jinx, Bumblebee, and Jericho.
3. When it comes to Marvel and DC, are you into the comics as well as the screen adaptations?
It's not exclusive to the Monsterverse, but the Monsterverse movies are the ones I'm most familiar with (other than Godzilla vs. Kong which I didn't really enjoy and haven't rewatched since I first saw it). I actually haven't seen any of the other modern Godzilla movies but they're on my watchlist! My other fully watched Godzilla movies are actually the original up to.... Son of Godzilla, I think. (After checking, I think this is right other than I don't think I've seen Ebirah, Horror of the Deep.)
Jinx is one of my favorites of the other Titans too! Bumblebee could be considered a favorite too but it's more like... all of Titans East I really like. I also love Kid Flash and Red Star.
I've only seen screen adaptations. I'm interested in checking out some comics but it's... intimidating yfeiuhwd If you have any recommendations though, my ears are open!

Just saw the fandom asks thing!
I don't know you that well, which is a shame, so I thought I'd put it to rights and just ask you what your favourite pieces of media are?
Alternatively, one reason why you love Cats or what your favourite song from it is.
:)
Hello!
My favorite pieces of media can change a lot but right now I'd say, well, Cats of course (including the 2019 movie), Spider-Man: Far From Home, the 2003 Teen Titans animated series, the 1985 Clue movie, and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.
I'll answer the alternative questions too gyfeihdu
One reason I love Cats is how much there is under the surface of it. It's a campy musical about singing and dancing cats but there's deep themes in it and also just so much you can do with it. My favorite song from it is Macavity the Mystery Cat!

Fandom you're curious about looking into? Or movies/shows you want to check out?
I've been kind of eyeing Mouthwashing actually. I've already seen there's a bunch of bullshit in the fandom but I've gotten some peeks into the good parts and there's a ship that's intriguing to me. Haven't played the game or watched a playthrough yet though.
Dude, I have a whole mental list of movies and shows to check out, both connected and unconnected to fandom fegyrhwiud The one that's sticking out in my head right now of wanting to check out for fandom purposes is the Fallout show. I'll also be seeing the Wicked movie on Christmas but idk if I'll be into fandom stuff for it.

That AITA you reblogged reminds me of the people that I've seen who get mad at darkfic when canon is like Interview With the Vampire or Hannibal. Like I really don't know what you expected?
The guilt complexes are real. Their apparent definition of "critical media consumption" is "fanning and posting and making content for this piece of media I love while also actively campaigning for it to not have the right to exist and there's absolutely no mental dissonance going on here."
That one Interview With the Vampire fanzine that imploded because they weren't gonna allow literally canon-level content in it is one of the wildest things I've ever learned about.

Have you heard about Cats: The Jellicle Ball at all??? A friend of mine got to see a performance recently and it truly sounds like an incredible take on the musical 8D
I have heard about it! A friend of mine also went to see it, it sounds like possibly the most unique take on the musical I've ever heard of. I know there's some mixed opinions around it because of going a more human route rather than, you know, cats, but I've enjoyed other productions like that. It's fun to see all the ways people reimagine the show!

Victeazer kid asks?
Name: Lollytussle
Gender: female
General Appearance: Mostly white with some scattered very light orange stripes, and some darker patches of orange and black on her head.
Personality: She's very fun-loving and energetic. She has an accepting personality but it can get lost in translation as she's more playful and teasing than compassionate and gentle. When it comes to physical stunts, acrobatics, and the like she's very daring, but when it comes to actual conflict she's more prone to run than stand her ground. She doesn't hold grudges but she also tends to not take things seriously enough and the two can sometimes be related.
Special Talents: Very bendy and flexible, like even for a cat. Other Jellicles are awed at the positions she can put herself in and the crazy places she can fit herself in because of her contortion skills.
Who they like better: Victoria. Victoria's a good balance to Lollytussle as a parent and in a surprising turn of events, also tends to be the less strict parent, which makes Lollytussle like her more in that immature kid way.
Who they take after more: Rumpleteazer. Her playfulness, teasing nature, and love for acrobatics come from Rumpleteazer. Unfortunately so does her tendency to not take things seriously enough and act without thinking.
Personal Head canon: Her relationship dynamic with Rumpleteazer is a less serious version of the dynamic Rumpleteazer had with her own parents when she was young. Lollytussle sees Rumpleteazer as the stricter parent, so the one more prone to be annoying, and she also gets annoyed at Rumpleteazer being stricter when Rumpleteazer is otherwise very similar to Lollytussle. But that's also why Rumpleteazer is a bit more strict, because her own ignorance and tendency to not take things seriously when she was younger led her into bad crowds. And she is doing her best to not be too strict, as her own parent(s)' strictness also led to her chasing freedom in what ended up being harmful ways.
Face Claim: Hmm.... Michele Tibbitts!
