Sad news today we lost another beloved cats actor who is stephen hanan aka the original gus and bustopher

He’s one of the best obc actors in the show asides from ken page as deuteronomy to bett buckley’s grizabella. He had recieved praise as his characters during its opening night and even won a tony nomination for it.

During the musical’s 6 week rehersal before opening night he covered his time through this book called “a cat’s diary” which do reccomend reading it as it holds some interesting history regarding cats on bway. He also did some roles such as playing captain hook and also samuel from pirates of penzance

May he rest in peace in the heavyside layer and may he meet ken, timothy and rene on the way.

OBC Cassandra

I cannot understand how René Ceballos's Cassandra is not more popular on here. There has never been a more cryptid queen. Not to mention René is simply gorgeous even out of Cats makeup. She deserves some love.

I had a lot of fun drawing this. and I'm really proud of how it turned out.

Original London Gus gives off a more sickly, fragile look of an elder. The lack of facial hair to me contributes to it, at least going by photos use for references (thanks Cats fandom wiki). Stephen Tate's narrow face shape (unless it's the photo angles) helps also.

Original Broadway Gus has a fuller, wider face. So to me, he appears more of an elder whose old age is getting to him slowly with each passing day. Stephen Hanan having facial hair (unless this Gus has it for his costume design) I think contributes to said thinking.

couldn't find a great pic to colorpick from for either of them so i just did my best to make the palette work. The bottom ones should be more parsable at a distance for pfps, but I like how the top ones look on their own lol
