Hulu New Releases: August 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
While the other streaming services set up recurring franchises, Hulu has opted to get a bit more experimental with its original offerings in August 2021.
Hulu’s list of new releases this month is highlighted by three original series concepts with promise. Reservation Dogs premieres on August 9. Co-created by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), this story will follow four indigenous teenagers in Oklahoma as they stave off boredom and adulthood. Next up is Nine Perfect Strangers on August 18. This miniseries, based on a book of the same name, is produced by David E. Kelley and features staggering cast of Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Samara Weaving, and more.
Only Murders in the Building is likely the biggest thing to look forward to in August though. Premiering on August 31, this comedy stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as three true crime-obsessed friends who stumble into a true crime of their own. On the movie side of things, the John Cena and Lil Rel Howery-starring Vacation Friends premieres on August 27.
The library titles coming to Hulu in August aren’t particularly inspiring. August 1 sees the arrival of Attack the Block, The Grudge, Watchmen (2009), and more. After that, there isn’t much to write home about. But at least we’ll have all the Steve Martin and Lil Rel Howery we could ask for.
Here is everything else coming to Hulu this month.

Actor criticised for Martin Luther King tweet
By: Sky News
Actor Rob Schneider has come under fire on social media after trying to explain Martin Luther King’s legacy to a civil rights leader.
The Deuce Bigalow and former Saturday Night Live star posted the tweet after congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis said he would not attend the President-elect’s inauguration.
“Rep. Lewis. You are a great person,” Schneider tweeted. “But Dr. King didn’t give in to his anger or his hurt. That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.”
Rep. Lewis. You are a great person. But Dr. King didn’t give in to his anger or his hurt. That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.
— Rob Schneider (@RobSchneider) January 16, 2017
Mr Lewis, who represents an area that includes most of Atlanta, is the most high-profile Democrat to snub the inauguration on Friday.
He was one of the Big Six leaders of civil rights groups who organised the 1963 march on Washington, and was side-by-side with Martin Luther King during the historic Selma march of 1965.
The backlash appeared on Twitter shortly after Schneider’s post, with many users, including fellow comedians, mocking him for “whitesplaining” civil rights to Mr Lewis.
Rob Schneider lecturing @repjohnlewis is the most embarrassing thing he’s ever done. Yes, this includes The Animal.
— Wil Wheaton (@wilw) January 16, 2017
Big Bang Theory actor Wil Wheaton wrote: “Rob Schneider lecturing Rep John Lewis is the most embarrassing thing he’s ever done. Yes, this includes The Animal.”
Stephen Colbert from The Late Show tweeted: “I stand with legendary civil rights hero Rep John Lewis.”
“I’m sure Rep John Lewis will appreciate this lesson in civil rights history from Deuce Bigalow,” another user wrote.
Another user tweeted a picture of Martin Luther King with John Lewis, saying: “Don’t whitesplain MLK to the man who literally sat at the table with MLK.”
Schneider is not the only public figure to criticise Mr Lewis for not boycotting Mr Trump’s inauguration.
Piers Morgan wrote a column on Martin Luther King Day, saying “the people who are determined to delegitimise Donald Trump before he even takes the oath are undermining democracy and America”.
“MLK would have tried to help Trump unite America,” Morgan tweeted. “Not divide it even more.”
