It's national puppy day! On this day, let's work to stop the horrors of puppy mills and back yard breeders. Please Don't Shop, Adopt!! Great dogs, even purebreads, can be found at local rescues and humane societies. Please support these organizations first!! If you must shop from a breeder, please follow these rules to avoid supporting puppy mills and unhealthy breeding practices: DON'T buy online or sight unseen. If their inventory is big enough to sell and ship online, it's a puppy mill! ALWAYS visit in person, see the living and breeding conditions, and meet the parent dogs. ASK for medical records and vaccination records of your puppy AND and their parent dogs. IF your gut tells you something isn't right, then it isn't. If you see signs of abuse or neglect, report them to the ASPCA immediatly!! Remember, if money changes hands with a breeder then you've just supported that breeder. DON'T fool your self into thinking I'll buy this dog to "rescue" it from these conditions.
