Coffee Chemistry Chapter Five- One Year Later

Everyone in New York knows that Tony Stark doesn’t wake up before ten o’clock in the morning.  Except that’s not quite true anymore. He wakes up to the smell of coffee, which means his bed is going to be empty. Still, he throws an arm out just in case. Nothing. So he grumbles a bit before rolling over and sitting up, wiping at his eyes. “Time, JARVIS?” “Eight-thirty in the morning, sir,” “Too freaking early,” he huffs. “Well, maybe if you’d come to bed at a decent time,”

Inspired By You Chapter One- The Artist

Peter is completely in the zone, head bowed, body contorted like a circus act, his hand aching from the constant back and forth. But he’s so close to being done, and this piece is so good, and if he can just- He yelps as a piercing ring cuts through his haze. He groans, knowing the only person who can get through his do-not-disturb settings is the last person he wants to talk to right now. Forcing his body to straighten out, he reaches for the phone he cast aside hours earlier. “What do you want, Nat?” “Well, well, excuse me for having the job of a lifetime,”

Coffee Chemistry Chapter One- Something Fancier

Everyone in New York knows that Tony Stark doesn’t wake up before ten o’clock in the morning.  So it’s no surprise that when he wanders into the tower coffee shop at eight AM, there’s a soft wave of whispers. It doesn’t bother him at all. He knows to many of his employees he’s like a ghost, as elusive and out of reach as JARVIS himself. In fact, he doesn’t normally come down here at any time of day, but he might have harvested the machine in the lab AND the penthouse for parts.  And he hadn’t actually gone to bed yet, but he really wanted a coffee.

Inspired By You Chapter Four- The Project

“You’re staring again,” Peter murmurs. Tony snaps his attention back to his laptop screen, feeling hot under the collar for being caught. “No, I’m not,” “Tony,” he laughs, poking him with his foot. “You’re supposed to be writing,” The last two months had been utter bliss. The two of them had gone on plenty of dates, both large and small, but found one of their favorite things to do was simply work alongside each other. Tony would take his laptop to Peter’s apartment or Peter his iPad and sketchbook to his, and they’d sit side by side, working on their creative pursuits. Peter usually worked on the illustrations unless he had a more pressing deadline, and Tony was on his next book. “I know,” he sighs. “I just like watching you. You’re cute when you’re focusing,”

“J. I’m dreaming, right? Tell me I’m dreaming?” “You are entirely awake, sir,” Clinging to the trunk with all his might is a young man, shirtless with brown curls damp from the sea. He looks human… until you see the red and blue tail that comprises his lower half. “That’s an actual mermaid?” he asks.  “It appears so, sir. And he is in distress,”

Treasures Untold | Chapter 2- Legs Are Required (But Walking is Hard)

“Peter, wait up!” Peter laughs and flicks his tail a little harder, racing towards the shipwreck with eager delight. “Gotta keep up, MJ!” “We’re going to be in so much trouble!” she complains, clicking at him in annoyance. “Then you shouldn’t have come with me!”

Hi, Sweetheart | Chapter 6- You Can Look

“You can sit and look pretty, but that’s all,” he says with mock sternness, turning back to the stove.  “Okay,” Peter laughs.  When he turns back around, he expects Peter to be sitting on a barstool. Instead, he’s sitting on the counter, legs crossed and unbuttoning the top two buttons of his shirt. He’s wearing navy blue slacks that cling to his thighs like a dream, making his breath hitch. His soulmate gives him a small smirk, indicating he knows exactly what he’s doing.  “You are trouble,” Tony scoffs, pointing a finger at him.

Hi, Sweetheart | Chapter 7- Partners & Parenting

They fall into a comfortable silence as they work. Once he’s done with the table, he lets Tony enlist him into finishing dinner since they had gotten side tracked with Morgan. He likes the tiny kisses they exchange as they pass each other and he loves when Tony grabs him from behind, just to hold him because he can. “Love you,” Peter murmurs, turning his head to kiss him. “Love you too, baby,” he hums. Then, much to Peter’s surprise. “You’re a good dad,” “What?” he asks, his eyes filling with tears. He turns in Tony’s arms, looking at his face for a sign of a joke. Then he slaps his shoulder. “You can’t just say that to me, Tony. People are coming over!”

Hi, Sweetheart | Chapter 8- Complete

Coming back from the dead is apparently really hard. Coming back from the dead when you’re a de-aged Tony Stark is apparently even harder.  The press conference goes horribly. Half the internet thinks he’s a clone. The other half says he’s had plastic surgery and not the good kind which he takes offense to since it’s just his face. By the time it’s all over he’s wondering if they should’ve said he was his own son or something.  It’s made worth it when he and Peter take a well earned vacation to a tropical shore, holding hands and existing together without a single worry about who sees them.

“We’re going to be okay,” she whispers.  He knows what she’ll say next. She’s going to tell him to rest like she always does. She’s going to tell him it’s okay to die. He glances down at the mark on his wrist, still, stark white like it always has been. Hopefully, his soulmate will forgive him.  He holds on, waiting for her to say it. But it never comes.  Instead, Peter is suddenly in his face, but he looks different. Sharper, older. Maybe it’s the haze of dying, but he swears he feels a tingle in his wrist. “Tony? Hey baby, I need you to stay with me, okay?” Peter is saying. Something pricks his neck. “I need you to fight, honey. Fight for Morgan. Fight for me,”

Hi, Sweetheart | Chapter 5- I Love You

“Hi, DUM-E,” Tony coos, petting the robot like a dog. He laughs when the arm nearly knocks him over. “Yeah, I missed you too. Where’s your fire extinguisher, huh?” “He lost fire extinguisher privileges,” Peter says bitterly. “He kept blowing out my bunsen burners,” Tony throws his head back and laughs at that. Peter wants to cry. He never thought he’d hear him laugh like that again. Instead, he allows himself to smile and pull up a screen, pulling out a few projects that he thinks Tony will like. He’s concentrating on searching for one when his spider-sense tingles just before two arms wrap around his waist from behind.  “Tony,” he whispers, closing his eyes. “What are you doing?” “Hugging you,” he murmurs, resting his chin on his shoulder.

This is… does Pepper know you found this?” “No,” he admits as he stares at the formula for the Extremis serum. “But it’s not what you think,” “Then what?” “I think I could heal your arm,”

“I don’t want to replace him. I can’t replace him, I’m not him, I can never be him,” Her brows pinch together in confusion. “And why would think any of us want you to?” And it’s so much like Karen’s question earlier that it knocks the wind out of him. Had he made it all up? Ton- he had said that he wanted Peter to be better than him, but not a better version of him. All these things he had thought he was supposed to be… when maybe he was only ever supposed to be himself.

Color would've been best. Black would've been acceptable. White he could've lived with. But not gray. Anything but gray. When Peter gets a gray soulmark on his eighteenth birthday, one that he's seen a million times on the wrist of the man he loved, his whole world shatters. The weight of Tony's death already a heavy burden to bear, he's not entirely sure how he'll make it through the rest of his life without him. As the years go by, he tries to heal, but between the mark on his wrist and the echos of a video message he can't even finish in his mind, it seems like he'll never truly recover. But four years after Tony's death he makes a discovery that might just give him a chance. The chance to change his soulmark from haunting gray to beautiful color.

“Hello everyone! I am very excited to welcome you all today for a very special presentation with some very special guests. Please welcome Tony Stark, author of the Iron Man series and his new book ‘Til the End of the Line’ and his illustrator and partner, Peter Parker!” There’s a roar of applause throughout the crowd as Tony and Peter step onto the makeshift stage, holding hands. They sit on the high stools that were provided and sit down. Peter slides his sweaty palms over his pants nervously. He can’t believe he’s here, with his boyfriend, on a book tour for his art. “Thank you, thank you,” Tony laughs into the microphone. “I think I can speak for both of us when I say that the support for this project has been more than we ever dreamed,”

Inspired By You Chapter Three- The Library

‘The Library’ was an old library that some chef had converted into a restaurant. All the dishes were inspired by popular book series, and the dining room had all the original bookshelves still intact. Sitting at the bar, you could even pull books off the shelves and read while you drank. It was a reader’s paradise, and Peter had always dreamed of going. “How did you get a reservation?” he laughs, falling into step alongside him. “Well, full disclosure, it’s not exactly a reservation, and I did have it lined up already,” Tony says. He looks nervous again. “Um, they’re considering putting an Iron Man dish on the menu? They asked me to come for a tasting, and well, it seemed fitting,” Peter stops dead in his tracks. “Are you serious?”

He bounds out the front door and down the steps of his apartment building. When he makes it outside, there’s a sleek black car with tinted windows that he approaches cautiously. The window rolls down to reveal Tony smiling at him, peering over the top edge of his sunglasses.  “Need a ride, sugar?” Peter laughs and rolls his eyes, reaching forward for the car door. “You’re such a dork,” “Look, I worked on the coffee pick-up lines the whole way over, and nothing was working,” he smiles. Then he takes off his sunglasses, and his eyes soften. “Hi,”

Coffee Chemistry Chapter Three- Better Brew

“Who’s that?” Peter asks as DUM-E comes rolling over, angrily gesturing at the coffee in Tony’s hands. “Yeah, yeah, I know,” he sighs, pushing the bot away from his precious cups. “This is DUM-E, my usual barista and jealous robot,” “He’s so cute,” Peter coos. DUM-E (the attention whore) spins around excitedly and extends his claw for him to pet. “Aww, look at you. Who’s a good robot? I bet you make great coffee, DUM-E,” Tony feels like the wind is knocked out of him at the adorable sight before him. He shakes his head to clear it because he can not be crushing on the college barista. That is not a smart idea. But then Peter gives DUM-E a freaking boop on the claw, like he’s a kitten, and yeah, wow, okay, today is not a smart day.
