UAE Team Emirates formåede ikke at nå sine mål i UAE Tour, hvor teamkøreren Adam Yates trak sig tidligt fra løbet på grund af en skade. Nu vil UAE Team Emirates fokusere på Strade Bianche, holdets Tadej Pogacar har allerede indvarslet det første løb i den nye sæson. Taking place on the white gravel roads of Tuscany, Strade Bianche is easily one of the hardest and most beautiful races of the year. A race in which the strongest rider always wins, it makes sense that the event’s list of winners reads like a Who’s Who of the sport’s best racers.

For example, Slovenia’s Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) won last year’s race with a solo attack 50 kilometers from the finish line in Siena, an incredibly gutsy move that only a rider like Pogačar would attempt (and pull off). And before Pog, previous editions were won by the Netherlands’ Mathieu van der Poel (2021), van Aert (2020), and France’s Julian Alaphilippe (2019). Clearly, this is a race where only the best succeed.

On the women’s side, van Vleuten is again the top favorite: she won the race in 2019 and 2020 and finished second to Belgium’s Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) last year. And keep an eye on Italy’s Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo), who won the race in 2017, and Poland’s Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM Racing), a four-time podium finisher who’s still searching for the top step.

È arrivato il momento di fermarsi un attimo e tirare un po’ di somme.

Non parto mai con idee precise di quello che voglio scrivere. A volte durante la giornata mi vengono in mente alcune cose ma non ho mai la prontezza di annotarle e tanto meno la capacità di ricordarle.

È passato il Natale, credo il più bello di sempre. Per molti è stato strano, triste, diverso dal solito, ma io ho avuto la fortuna di avere vicino tutto ciò che mi faceva stare bene.

Abbiamo pranzato a casa con i miei, poi sono scesi Giulia e Piero, siamo andati tutti e quattro a salutare le nonne e poi abbiamo passato una serata con tutti i miei amici, cosa posso chiedere di più di questo?

Ho visto i miei genitore sereni, la mia amata nonna contenta e sopratutto ho avuto accanto te che mi rendi così felice e mi fai sentire amata ogni in ogni singolo giorno e in ogni singolo istante.

Abbiamo raggiunto il nostro equilibrio e mi sento davvero libera di provare le emozioni che mi salgono da dentro.

Ieri prima di uscire a fumare una cicca ti sono saltata in braccio, in maniera così spontanea, mi hai detto che ti ha fatto molto piacere perché hai potuto notare quanto io fossi felice e hai appurato che stai riuscendo nel tuo intento nel farlo.

Siamo così simili in così tante cose, nel nostro modo di essere, nel modo di affrontare le cose, nel nostro attaccamento alle nostre fantastiche nonne, nel nostro modo di essere con le persone che amiamo, per l’impegno e l’amore che ci mettiamo in qualsiasi cosa facciamo. Per tutte le nostre coincidenze, dal neo sul piede, alla stessa ferita fatta nello stesso giorno nello stesso punto della mano, dai tatuaggi che abbiamo per le nonne alla quantità di cicche che fumiamo al giorno 😂

Questa mattina ci siamo svegliati abbiamo fatto una doccia, siamo usciti in terrazza e abbiamo guardato mio papà pulire la macchina, stava cantando sereno senza sapere di essere osservato, abbiamo riso tanto nel sentilo “intonare” quegli acuti imbarazzanti, ho avuto per un attimo gli occhi lucidi, non so se per le risate, per aver visto mio papà così contento o se perché in quel momento ci fossi tu accanto a me a goderci un momento del genere.

Mi dici sempre che se non ti avessi raccontato di cosa successe ormai 6 anni fa, tu non avresti mai pensato che mio papà andò via di casa.

Anche noi abbiamo ritrovato il nostro equilibro, sia lui e mia mamma, sia io e lui e io sono veramente felice di questo.

Ho abbassato la guardia anche con lui perché credo che se lo meriti, a modo suo sta dimostrando quanto ci tenga.

Poi ho avuto l’idea della bici, via in sella, abbiamo raggiunto il cimitero, ti ho fatto fare il percorso che faccio di solito io, un saluto a Enri, una cicca da Vani e poi dai nonni. Che personaggi.

È stato un po’ strano all’inizio, non è proprio una cosa così comune da fare, è una cosa che solitamente faccio da sola, ma poi è stato tutto così normale, è stato speciale anche questo, “presentarti” persone che hanno fatto parte della mia vita che purtroppo non ci sono più. È stato normale e speciale perché tu hai la capacità di fare e creare tutto questo, noi due insieme riusciamo a farlo.

Poi siamo andati nel nostro posto, quel magnifico posto, oggi risplendeva con la luce del sole, ho dato da mangiare ad un cigno come faceva il mio nonno poi siamo andati al ponte cercando di riprodurre la nostra prima foto, senza grande successo perché forse siamo così diversi rispetto all’inizio.

Prima mentre guardavamo Pocahontas sono rimasta colpita dal discorso di nonna salice delle increspature dell’acqua, “così piccole all’inizio poi guardate come si ingrandiscono”

Noi siamo così, siamo partiti da un tocco, da un puntino che si trasforma in un piccolo cerchio e ogni cerchio diventa sempre più grande. Noi diventiamo sempre più grandi. I nostri progetti e i nostri obiettivi lo diventeranno. La nostra relazione crescerà sempre di più.

Quel tocco è quel tuo messaggio partito come uno scherzo ma che nascondeva la verità, o forse quella sera, la prima sera dove ci siamo conosciuti. Ha poca importanza da dove siamo partiti, l’importante è ciò che siamo diventati e ciò che saremo in futuro.

Mi hai detto che ti piace la mia famiglia.

E io adoro la tua, la cena della vigilia è stata bellissima, adoro ascoltare i tuoi zii parlare dei loro viaggi, delle loro avventure nel mondo, guardare il loro entusiasmo, la loro complicità “ti ricordi?” quante volte se lo sono ripetuti, sembrava parlassero di un viaggio fatto 5 anni fa, invece era di 20 anni fa.

E io ascoltandoli non riesco a non immaginarci così, per le strade di grandi città a provare cibi mai provati prima, in campagne sperdute con piantagioni di riso in oriente, nelle spiagge bianche delle Maldive, sotto alberi di ciliegio in fiore in Giappone, nella savana circondati da bufali giraffe e leoni e spensierati per mano a camminare sopra le mie adorate piastrelle a fiori per i marciapiedi di Barcellona.

Non vedo l’ora di fare un viaggio con te.

Adoro tua mamma e l’amore che esprime quando parla di voi, adoro come dimostra di credere in voi e nei vostri sogni, rinuncerebbe alla vita per voi.

Amo te, quando mi parli di tua nonna, con tutta quell’emozione e quella fragilità, amo te quando piangi perché ti senti libero di poterlo fare al mio fianco.

Amo provare tutta quell’empatia come prima, mista alla mia immensa paura di perdere la mia nonna, amo anche piangere insieme a te, amo il modo in cui mi parli per farmi calmare dicendo cose fantastiche.

Amo te, i tuoi modi di fare, il modo in cui mi fai sentire, amata e protetta.

La fiducia che ho nei tuoi confronti perché come potrei mai dubitare di un uomo che mi guarda con quegli occhi, pieni di amore e volontà. Non butteresti all’aria tutto questo per una cagata, sei troppo intelligente per farlo.

Sai quanto sia importante per me la fiducia, quanto non siano ammesse le bugie, nessun passo falso, al primo sei fuori e mi pare che tu lo abbia capito.

Non sarò più la persona che ero un tempo, non passerò più sopra a nessun tipo di cosa che mi fa stare male perché io ora mi voglio bene davvero

Ormai è passato più di un anno dal Senegal, quel viaggio che io definisco “il viaggio che mi ha salvato la vita” quanto sono cambiata, quante cose sono cambiate, quante cose sono successe in questo 2020, un anno maledetto alla detta di tutti, un anno di svolta per me, di cambiamenti, anche di sconfitte, ma l’anno della mia vittoria più grande. Tu.

（1）How to watch the Kerwin Frost Telethon Supershow live from anywhere

The very first annual Kerwin Frost Telethon Supershow takes place this weekend live from Los Angeles on a screen near you. Full of music performances, appearances by pop culture influencers, and even a live celebrity auction, the 12-hour event is dedicated to fundraising for the Know Your Rights Camp. Kerwin Frost is aiming to raise $5 million dollars during the benefit which will go towards the liberation and well-being of black and brown communities in several ways, including through youth daycamps, a legal defense fund, and also a pandemic relief fund. Among the performers and guest stars include Anderson.Paak, Asap Ferg, A-trak, Beck, DMC (of Run DMC), Jaden Smith, Kehlani, Lil Nas X, Lil Yachty, Mac Demarco, Major Lazer, Miguel, Yo Gabba Gabba, and more.

The first annual Kerwin Frost Telethon Supershow is being broadcast live via YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok Live, which means you have a variety of options to watch the benefit this Sunday via either on your phone, your smart TV, your tablet, or your computer. You can find direct links to watch on these platforms via the Kerwin Frost Telethon Supershow website once the show begins. Then again, if you're having trouble watching the benefit, you may need to look into a VPN service. Certain sites can be blocked due to your location but a VPN lets you change your location virtually so you can access more content like the Kerwin Frost Telethon Supershow. （2）How to Watch the NBA Restart Online

After COVID-19 cut basketball — and everything else — short, the NBA has been working on a way to finish out season the season safely. Tonight is the debut of NBA Restart, which will let the top 22 teams in the league finish out the regular season and send 16 of them into this year's playoffs. Each game will be held in an NBA bubble, meaning the teams will play with no fans in the arenas and players will be regularly tested before and between games.  Tonight's tipoffs include the Utah Jazz vs New Orleans Pelicans at 6:30/5:30c followed by the Los Angeles Lakers playing the LA Clippers at 9/8c. If you're quarantined in a home with cable you can catch the games on TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV, all of which will be broadcasting nearly 50 games over the course of the next three weeks as the league finishes out regular season.

Coming hot on the heels of last Saturday's Strade Bianche in Italy, the return of top class cycling from the coronavirus hiatus continues with the 77th edition of this iconic race across Poland. The riders took off from the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów on Wednesday, with the five-stage event set to be concluded on Sunday in Kraków. You can access all of these services on most mobile devices, media players, and connected TVs, including Amazon Fire TV, Apple, Android, Chromecast, PS4, Xbox One, Roku, Samsung smart TVs, and more.  The UEFA Champions League restart begins August 7 at 3 p.m. ET with Juventus vs. Lyon and Manchester City vs. Real Madrid. （5）How to watch UFC 252: Heavyweight legend Daniel Cormier says this title match will be his last

UFC heavyweight titans Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will face off in their third championship match during the main event of  UFC 252, streaming live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on August 15. Cormier knocked out Miocic in the first round of their first meeting to claim the heavyweight title at UFC 226 in 2018, but Miocic returned the favor with a fourth round knockout to reclaim the title at UFC 241 in August 2019. The grizzly fight left Miocic's eye in need of surgery after the match, keeping him out of the octagon for a full year.Cormier, now 41-years-old, has said the  UFC 252 main event against Miocic will be the last fight of his career. The UFC legend enters UFC 252 with a career record of 22-2 in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, with his only losses coming to Miocic and Jon Jones android tv box. Cormier has spent lots of time in the commentary booth for several UFC events through the past year and will likely return to that role after UFC 252.UFC fan favorite Sean O'Malley will fight Marlon Vera in a co-main event match. The fight was originally scheduled for UFC 239 but O'Malley was suspended for six months by the USADA in 2018 after two positive tests for a banned substance. After serving the suspension, O'Malley has scored knockouts and performance of the night honors in both of his fights. Vera lost his last fight against Song Yadong in a five round decision.UFC 252 will begin with early prelims at 7 p.m. ET, while the main card is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. ET. The main event will be available on the ESPN+ streaming service, but will require an additional pay-per-view fee of $64.99 along with the cost of an ESPN+ subscription. Fans will not be in attendance for UFC 252 or any of the other events due to the coronavirus pandemic. UFC has implemented at least 18 different safety precautions for staff, including advanced medical screenings, temperature checks, and social distancing guidelines.

Paris – Roubaix Velotech Top Tips

This weekend we see the Paris Roubaix return to its original calendar date in April for the first time since 2019. 2020 it was cancelled and in 2021 it was held in October. Whilst there are a lot of fans who loved the late-season festivities of 2021 the UCI and the organisers have returned the “Hell of the North” to its original date. We asked James our resident super fan to collate a favourites list for the men’s and Women’s races. So, if we get it completely wrong blame him.

Women’s Race – Lizzie Deignan took the inaugural Women’s Paris Roubaix in 2021 with an incredible show of skill, power, and endurance. This year we have a litany of the world’s best female athletes. Let’s look…

Marianne Vos pictured above 2nd Place in 2021, Vos arguably the GOAT of cycling male or female is the favourite to me, she has already placed 2nd at Gent Wevelgem and last year she matched Deignan for speed over the last 15km. So, my pick for the winner is VOS.

Here are a couple of others that are of interest.

Elisa Longo Borghini 3rd in 2021 is not in great form now but worth keeping an eye on along with Marta Cavalli the winner of Amstel Gold and a top ten in 2021 this is a great outside bet. My final tip is Lotte Kopecky, left Kopecky till last because I was going to make her the outright favourite after a stellar start to the season but last year she rolled in 15th at Paris Roubaix. However, this year she has already won the Tour of Flanders and Strade Bianche, so it might be worth putting an EW bet here too.

Men’s Race – Last year was the classic mud fest with Sonny Cobrelli pictured above taking a very emotional win. However, due to recent health issues will not be defending his title.

Favourites – Normally I would probably lean to Van Aert, but his recent health issues and his late entry do not bode well for his form. However, do not write him off for an amazing comeback win. The winner, in my opinion, will be Van De Poel his training and his season have been all geared towards this and there is no doubt that unless there is a technical issue he will be in the selection when it happens. Stephan Kung has had a great start to the season with 5th at Flanders and 6th at Dwars door Vlaanderen, this consistency is worth placing an EW bet on. My Wildcard is Filippo Ganna, he has been focused on this race for months and all it takes is for someone to let his wheel go and they won’t see him again.
