They never met before but he marries her because he lied to a judge to get her out of a prostitution charge, and they quite like each other but they get divorced cuz yadda yadda yadda, "she's after my money" "I don't want his money" that type of thing, but anyway

The point is she has his baby, and in the end she hears he's about to get married and goes "no one is gonna marry my baby's dad!" and gets dressed up, gets into a cab and just lifts the baby so he'll see it through the window of his car as they drive next to each other and knowthey had a kid. So naturally he opens the door of a moving car and climbs to her cab

Also, shout out to the friend who was living with her for taking the divorce settlement money she was refusing under setting up an account for the baby and pretending it was from a surprise inheritance so they'd have money to raise a baby DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION
