So about Chan i believe he feels attracted to more badass people/women, but once he gets a crush he gets very...helpful. Its not a very continuous dynamic, but lets be hones most of us aren't very logic when it comes to love. Often we desire exactly that which we lack in us, and when we have it we try to attract it by giving them what we lack, but they already have it. Like with chan in that case.
