I’m wondering if anyone else has come across a similar problem. I’m using ZendMail to send emails from Office365 SMTP on a server hosted with A Small Orange and I’m getting the following error:
stream_socket_enable_crypto(): Peer certificate CN=’servername.asoshared.com’ did not match expected CN=’smtp.office365.com’
I’m using TLS and port 587.
I contacted ASO and they said that dealing with third party email is beyond their scope of support. I suspect that the server is intercepting SMTP requests. Otherwise, why would the Office365 SMTP server be replying with my server’s SSL certificate?
Does anyone know specifically what needs to be changed on my server to prevent this from happening?
Disclaimer: I know that ASO was acquired by EIG and EIG is the devil, but this hosting plan was set up before I was aware of that.
