Netflix is all set to simplify film production process.
Tumblr media
After reinventing the way movies and TV shows are being watched. Now, Netflix wants to use technology to do the same to develop Movies and TV shows. Netflix has been working on a series of experimental apps designed to help some key parts of production - like the scheduling of a shoot, crew management, and the budgeting to pay for it all.One app, in particular, called 'Move', has been in testing with selected Netflix productions since November. During a recent press briefing Chris Gross Netflix’s director of studio technology. said “Ultimately, we are competing with pen and paper,”With 'Move', crews can organize their schedule on set, distribute the script to everyone involved in each scene, and generate a wrap report at the end of each workday.'Move'  does all of this for them in an app, and integrates with email and SMS to notify crew members of schedule changes. The experimental app was initially tested on the second season of “Glow” this past November and has since been used on 10 different shoots. Many of previous attempts to go digital failed because they either tried to force new solutions down everyone’s throats or relied on closed silos, making studios buy into end-to-end platforms from one single vendor. Instead of that, Netflix is looking to build smaller pieces that can gradually replace old workflows over time and is also tapping into existing solutions. And the company isn’t looking at these apps as a way to save some money, but to actually help crews do their job. Ultimately, Netflix envisions that these apps will be used by tens of thousands of people, both employed by the company as well as third-party vendors working on Netflix productions around the world. Why the music industry needs blockchain technology ?
Tumblr media
Being first to put in any of the work, and the last to ever see any profit..such a major pain point for creative people in the music industry. Songwriters, producers and musicians everyone faces the same situation.
They have little to no information about how their royalty payments are calculated, and they never get access to valuable analytical data about how and where people are listening to their music.
Blockchain has the potential to provide a more quick and seamless experience for anyone involved with creating or interacting with music.
Below are some of the features of Blockchain Technology and how it addresses the current problems in this industry by changing the way this sector works.
1. Universal, distributed database
Everybody has access to the database. Any changes that were made is available for everyone to see. Because everybody has access to it, anybody can verify and confirm any transactions made within the blockchain platform.
In a single database for musicians, the industry becomes truly data led, laying down all information such as artist, writer, producers, royalty distribution and more. It becomes easier for everybody across industries to collaborate. Win-win situation.
2. Peer-to-peer transmission
What happens in P2P is that it allows sharing without an intermediary. Musicians highly benefit from this platform because it eliminates the middlemen.
In addition to this, it allows anyone to share their work with a large number of audiences without having to be restricted by issues on agency support, publishers and the like.
While the problem with small musicians before is on how to release their music in the market, in the Blockchain, they can now do so with ease.
3. Identity amid anonymity
Although one of Blockchain’s main feature is anonymity, users may still opt to publish their own work to clearly associate them with it. A user is identified with a 30 or more alphanumeric characters that become unique addresses.
This becomes your proof of identification that cannot be copied or hacked. When musicians acquire their own address, that becomes permanent. Hence, any work released under that address will forever be associated with that identity.
4. Transparency
The Blockchain works in “chains”, so every move is connected chronologically with each other. Once a transaction has commenced, it cannot be reversed and is out there for everyone to see. This is a huge advantage in the music industry where copying or “stealing” work is a problem.
Once the information is out in the Blockchain, the owner or address that is connected with the work cannot be changed. The blockchain effect has inspired creatives in the industry that a better future lies ahead.
If guided and nurtured in the right ways, blockchain holds the potential to give us a golden age of music not just for its listeners, but for those who make it, too.

Walmart files patent applications for drone shopping assistants and smart shopping carts.
Tumblr media
Walmart filed several patents that suggest the company may be moving toward a technology-based future.
With regards to in-store tech, the patents include a shopping cart “sensing device” and a means for tracking customers through wearable. That’s taken in conjunction with the several patents for sensing inventory levels. It’s possible this is a play towards cashier-less shopping, like the kind Amazon is increasingly rolling out with its Amazon Go locations.
As well, Walmart’s other mobile-centered patent is for drones that would assist customers shopping in-store. According to the patent, customers would be able to summon a drone through a mobile device to “provide price verification of a user-specified object or […] provide navigation assistance […] to guide the user to the user-specified object.”
Whether any of this will actually come to fruition is hard to tell. Companies routinely file patents that are never realized, but the idea of a future where drones are at your command as shopping assistants is interesting at the very least.
Walmart reported in February its US e-commerce sales grew 23 percent over the fiscal year 2017 and its online revenue increased 44 percent.
As with any patent, this proposed tech may never come to pass. In any case, it’s a sign of some of the ways that retailers are looking to incorporate technology into everyday business.

Check out this first city to unveil World’s First Public Bitcoin Monument
The Slovenian city of Kranj recently unveiled a public monument to bitcoin and blockchain technology, of which it claims is the first in the world. The monument was financed by major bitcoin exchange Bitstamp, and blockchain software company 3fs.
The three-tonne metal sculpture is situated near Kranj’s courthouse, approximately 20 miles from the city’s capital. The circle surrounding the bitcoin ‘B’ has a diameter of roughly seven meters. The statue was created by artists Selman Čorović and Aleksander Frančeškin.
The mayor of Kranj, Bostjan Trilar, told reporters that the bitcoin ‘B’ was chosen as the design for the monument by the cities citizenry, stating “We asked citizens on our Facebook page to decide what to place in the new roundabout and this was one of the first ideas we received… Kranj has a lot of companies dealing with high technology.” Mayor Trilar added that many of the city’s inhabitants are “tightly connected to modern technology companies, some of them have been successful precisely with the blockchain technology and we thought it was right to honor them.”
