-TOUR BALANCE-

It’s been a few weeks since tour ended, a few weeks since we got home to our perfect California weather and my mint green Prius. Could I BE more LA?

There is a balance that touring can bring to your life I am discovering... I’m sure for a lot of people, it can be incredibly stressful balancing kids, family and time away. For others, it can be dangerous, introducing a loneliness and freedom that can make way for a lot of partying and craziness. For me, I have found a sense of appreciation for everything about my life between the time away, and the time in LA. 

When I am on tour, I am thankful for the freedom to travel the world and sing. I am thankful for the adventures to new cities and the people I work with and have the chance to meet along the way. There is a routine about the lifestyle on the road that I love: the constant schedule, the consistency of work, and the curiosity of what the next show and day will be like. On the other hand, I MISS LA. Sometimes you get lonely and miss your space. When I’m on tour I think about LA and miss the sun, the freeways, having my own fridge, my closet, my shower... all the normal things. Because of touring and having that time away, I am more aware of how much I LOVE my city and my home. 

I have grown up in California, a total California girl. Northern California will always be a place I love, but Los Angeles is where I grew to really know myself. It is where I have had my worst ups and downs, where I have learned to RISE above what scared me the most and learn to trust myself. Los Angeles is where I have learned to be ADULT. Adulting.... it’s hard sometimes isn’t it? 

But being away on those touring adventures just reminds me when I come home... I LOVE ADULTING. I LOVE IT. I love it. I do. I love paying my bills, having a house I love, cooking in my kitchen, driving my car, going to my job, working on my craft, LEARNING as much as I can... It all enriches my life. It is all a reminder of where I came from, the odd and tough phases my heart and soul had to go through to really grow up. Honestly... without that shit we don't learn... I’m now GRATEFUL for the years where I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep pursuing singing. When you turn 30 and feel like you’re life is changing for the better, you appreciate the hell out of it. That’s all I can say. So happy to be home... and can’t wait to get out there again.
