Trigger absolutely needs to adapt it till the end, it has the potential to become as popular as the fmab anime
It’s also low enough on the W.A.S scale that it’ll be easy to recommend to anyone with even the passing enough of rpgs. And with the release of Baldur’s Gate, that’s basically everyone
if we're all right about this countdown being about the reboot, im hoping that like, it wont be rushed this time. like i hope they go into each arc with detail and capture the best parts of it.
it might just be me, but i feel like every, if not, most, jshk fans are bsd fans, and bsd manga readers know how much it hURTS that the animators are removing the best scenes for this new season.
so i'm hoping hoping hoping that jshk won't make the same mistake this time around, and definitely not pull a bsd s5.
I had a feeling, a rather strong feeling after a hint left in the PV for After-School Hanako-Kun, and I'm very happy that it turned out correct. There's not a mountain of stuff to cover, but I think it's important (and very interesting!) things that have the chance to be of importance to the Hanako-Kun remake!
So, let's talk details. How about starting with the PV? Lerche was a little sneaky, listing Studio Hibari in parentheses, but I caught it pretty quickly as I was chatting about the PV with a friend. You might think, "Oh, but Hibari is Lerche's parent company, it could have meant anything", and in a way you would have been right. Except, this is the first time Hibari was credited on a Lerche anime- period.
So, everybody already knew about the changes with lead director Masaomi Andou, and character designer Itou Mayuka not returning. What we didn't know is how good the character designs and direction would be. Well, turns out its good, very good.
Lots of little pieces of expression and character acting, as well as some solid direction, culminating in scenes like Nene digging Hanako out of the pile of Mokke.
Depth is actually something that lead director as well as episode director/storyboarder Kitamura Masaki plays at consistently throughout the episode, and it works really well. It puts in perspective how "flat" the first season of Hanako-Kun is, and how much it relied on color design to really bring the best out in it.
Conversely, expressions can struggle here and there compared to the first season. An inevitable fate that the anime would suffer due to Andou's departure considering how they literally use manga panels for their storyboards.
However, the slight differences in facial expressions is something I'll gladly eat if it means that the animation can get a much needed upgrade. Sure, it's not sakuga worthy every other second, but there's plenty of fun and well done cuts like these two Mokke sequences.
And we can owe that to the massive effort Hibari has put into cleaning up this series. Yeah, they essentially dedicated an entire staff dispatch for this first episode. All the first key animators are Hibari, as well as all but 3 for the second key animators. In betweens and other smaller roles for the episode have also been parted out a great deal to Hibari's Vietnam studio, creating a nearly full force effort from the parent to support its child. And it does wonders for the series.
I was intensely curious to see how this spinoff anime would go over with Lerche before this first episode, but now I'm incredibly excited to see how they decided to upgrade the manga they're adapting, and how this might reflect on the quality of the Hanako-Kun remake slated to release this year.

A new multimedia project has been announced, World Dai Star. It will have an anime starting April 9th, game app in Summer 2023 and a manga adaptation on April 2nd.
The staff includes:
MikaPikazo as the character designer
Takahiro (Akame ga Kill, Mato Seihei) did the original story draft.
Kinome Yuu (Idoly Pride) as the director
It will be animated at Studio Lerche.
The story is set in a world after Dai Star stage performers exploded in worldwide popularity in the 20th century. 16-year-old Kokona Ōtori follows her dream of becoming a World Dai Star by auditioning for the Sirius theatrical troupe.
i shouldn't have hope because if anything, we might get NDRV3 anime. Although i wish the Dangan anime and studio Lerche expanded the franchise, they can do a lot with it actually. Lots of things they can adapt, be it Original things, Anime or Movie adaptions.
does anyone of you like, have links or backups of the translations of interview bits from Hamatora official books from back in 2014?
I do remember a few people translating parts here and there (I remember something detailing the jump between animation studios and how Lerche decided to change the story to highlight Hajime....... or something like that) and im tentatively working on a little something that would really benefits from those translations but ten years ago i didnt quite have the foresight to save them for later use
considering that my hamatora art(literal art, not the character) has suddenly been gaining some attention I feel like a few people came back to roam in the tag so maybe some of you have the materials im searching for 😭

So Rampo Kitan – Game of Laplace, or as I’m going to be referring to it from this point on, just Rampo Kitan is a Japanese anime series which was produced by Lerche, a subsidiary of Studio Hibari. The series was directed by Seiji Kishi (noted as the director of various anime including Angel Beats, Persona 4: The Animation, Danganronpa: The Animation and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School) and was written by Makoto Uezu (noted as the scriptwriter for various anime including Danganronpa: The Animation, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Kengan Ashura and Fate/Grand Carnival).
The anime is inspired by the works of popular Japanese author, Tarō Hirai, more commonly known by his pen name, Edogawa Ranpo. He is considered to be one of the key developers of Japanese mystery and thrillers. He was an admirer of Western mystery writers, especially Edgar Allan Poe, for whom he derived his pen name and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The anime was released in 2015, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death in 1965.
Welcome back to a new anime review, everyone! In this one, I'll review Given, a music/BL anime!
As stated in the introduction, Given is a music/boy's love anime with a significant amount of drama. It has eleven episodes, a one-hour-long movie, and an OVA for said movie. Overall, it's pretty short.
What I liked about the plot of Given is that it's not afraid of being blunt. The drama tag means something, and it's written well. The happy and sad moments balance out well, and the ending is highly satisfying.
The movie also had the clever idea of focusing on the main characters outside the leading duo, which was an opportunity to harmonize everyone in terms of development. It was also kept short enough not to become too slow.
I can't promise you that you won't cry while watching this anime. I personally didn't, but if you're really into it, you honestly might. After all, it has some pretty intense & emotional scenes.
Of course, a BL anime's strength must be the cast, and it is! The main cast is adorable, incredibly realistic, and they're very well-written together. It's only four characters (+ one main-ish character in the movie), but it's all this anime needs to shine.
In particular, the dynamics are remarkable. They emphasized ensuring they got enough moments together to build their characters as a group, and I thought this was a wise choice.
The anime focuses mainly on the main duo, which gets great development all throughout the eleven episodes. The movie focuses primarily on the other two... who also get great character development throughout the whole thing!
Funnily enough, this anime has a character with the same name as one of my OCs. It was pretty unexpected, considering I created them with zero knowledge of the manga or the anime adaptation. It's a random fact, but I thought it was rather amusing!
I swear, this anime has the same art style as Fruits Basket 2019... which makes little sense since they were made by different studios. Nonetheless, it is pretty, and studio Lerche did a great job. I especially like the way the characters were designed.
Musically, this anime does the job. It's an anime about a boys' band, so it required good music, and the OST turns out to be pretty okay. The OP and ED are also nice. Though... I was expecting just a tad more.
Overall, Given is a pleasant anime and makes for an enjoyable short watch. If you're into any of the abovementioned genres, this anime's made for you. I recommend it!
Down below is the tierlist for the characters in this anime. Thank you for reading this review!
